Just have the Bournemouth-Southampton game on and that's pretty one sided in Bournemouth trying to create a rivalry with their south coast neighbours. Bet Saints fans would be way more excited if they drew Portsmouth in the FA cup this season, they couldn't care less what Bournemouth do/don't on a weekly basis.

So Bournemouth don't really have anymore else given the other local teams like Weymouth/Poole are very much non league.

I always thought aswell Leicester got plenty of goodwill in their title season because they don't really have any fierce local rivals either so seen more as neutral club. I know with Cooper there's dislike of Forest but they had Martin O'Neill for years and there wasn't an issue, Forest-Derby is the big rivarly in the East Midlands.

Must be strange to support a team and not have a rival to really spar against on a weekly basis at Work or socially.

Leicester and Forest definitely do not like each other. I would say that’s a pretty strong rivalry.

Coventry is one I would say don’t have any particularly strong rivalries and the ones they do have always seem a little one sided from their side. Wolves and West Brom are focused on each other, Birmingham and Villa are focused on each other, and Villa are also kinda sorta focused on Wolves and West Brom and vice versa. Nobody really cares about little old Coventry.

In terms of the bigger clubs, I feel the same way about Chelsea.

Arsenal and Spurs seem to be far more concerned with each other, and you can't convince me that anybody cares about Fulham.

Brentford very much care about Fulham. QPR don't love them either.

Leicester and Cov is a rivalry.

Yeah Coventry isn't that far from Leicester generally and they were regulars in the premier league in late 90s. Just haven't played each other in the league for over a decade.

They’re not so much geographical rivals, but Brighton and Bournemouth are two progressive, modern and well run clubs who came up towards the top flight at roughly the same time and don’t have a natural local rival at their own level.

They should have at each other.

Tranmere?

Parked out in the Wirral, too small to be rivals with Liverpool and Everton.

Wikipedia is trying to tell me Chester, who they haven't played since 1991.

Also mentions Wrexham, Bolton and Oldham but I'm not convinced.

Brighton hate Palace.

Leicester Forest will do for Cooper soon.

Ah ok. I didn’t realise that.

Although now you mention it, the one time I was in Brighton I took the train from London and we went right past Selhurst Park.

In terms of primary rivalries, you’re right. Arsenal and Spurs are both each other’s number one, while teams like QPR and Fulham are more one sided, though a bit more serious and reciprocal from our side towards QPR. Both Arsenal and Spurs probably have us 2nd though, not sure if some Arsenal fans put United 2nd, but Spurs and us are definitely as close to a primary rivalry as it gets. I’d say they’re #1 for us by some distance.

Chelsea’s should be Fulham but the latter have been nowhere near Chelsea the last twenty odd years. Doing well this season though, maybe we’ll get a meaningful west London Derby this year.

They’ve had quite a few seasons in the PL in the last 15 years. It’s never anything serious. Same with Brentford. A lot of Chelsea fans actually quite like Brentford. Among the WL clubs, for Chelsea, it’s just QPR that Chelsea have any animosity towards.

According to a survey from a few years ago, Gillingham are the least hated professional football club in the country, and no other club's fans in the top 4 divisions consider them a rival. They consider their main rivals to be Swindon Town, who are about 200 miles west; a rivalry unreciprocated by Swindon.

I thought that one was made up by Sky or something? There's a good 70-80 miles between Croydon and Brighton.
It’s only about 40.

Still doesn’t seem very local though.

Hartlepool Utd must be everyone's second team up in the north east.

Fecking hate losing to Chelsea to be fair . After Spurs for me its Chelsea and United. Losing to United while unpleasant (deeply) I can stomach as our rivalry has had its ups and downs as since 2004 one of us have been rubbish or both of us have been rubbish, however losing to Chelsea always winds me up as before Roman their record against us was absolutely dire. Saying that begrudgingly their team now looks exciting despite the university size squad they have. And Chelsea also have what we deeply want, a CL trophy. Being a top London team in terms of titles we are still miles ahead but the CL is the one which would really put us up there in Europe.

I was going to say Brighton but they have that weird hatred going with Palace and both been in the prem since 2017 so it's a prominent "derby" now.

Stoke?

They seem to think they have a massive rivalry with United but we barely acknowledge they exist outside of the “can he do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke” meme.

There’s a lot of one way rivalries. Colchester Utd absolutely hate Ipswich, sing all their terrace chants about us. I’ve yet to meet an Ipswich who cares in the least. Surely it’s the same in Manchester, with a lot of teams (Bolton, Oldham maybe?) hating Utd, but more than likely Utd fans have a soft spot for one of them?

Port Vale, no?
