I know we've got the opposite thread, but I thought we could come up with some of our own phrases.

Fred-ian Slip - When a former big club is on the decline, they start to believe that subpar players might be the answers to their current problems. An example of this is 'Could Fred play right wing?'. This decline in standard can be described as the 'Fred-ian slip'

Dark Mata Principle - When a team is in bad form they will turn to anyone in the squad looking for an answer to their current predicament. However, the reason these players are initially not in the first eleven is that they are not good enough in the first place. The process of bringing a squad player in, seeing that he plays crap, sending him to the reserves only to bring him back two weeks later when other players also play shite is called the Dark Mata Principle.

Schrodinger's Matt - An executive at the club who is simultaneously responsible for all signings but never seems to actually make any signings. Named after Man United's Matt Judge who spends most of his time assembling bids that he knows will never go through.

Lost Da-pLot. The principle that the longer a player is out of the first team, the more he is highly rated despite never showing any good form at all. If your mate is telling you that the answer to United's problems is a 21 year old full back who has played six league games in his career, he is starting to lose Da-pLot.

Pogbadox. Being a great player on paper yet never showing it in-game, besides a fancy turn or side step every so often. Despite this, has cult-like following due to YouTube highlights.

“he’s got a world class skillset but he’s actually a bit shit, he’s a bit of a pogbadox that one”

Darm before the storm - the feeling that United have made a good signing before we watch them play and realise how poor they are.

Darmian is such a great signing. An Italian international for 15 million
That’s just the Darm before the storm.
