Funny how any link of giggs to a decent job was met with so much anger, venom and dare I say hatred, but similar appointments or links such as Gerrard, lampard, bellamy, arteta are met with balance. Not always agreement but no screaming about 'entitlement' and earning ones stripes. And no this was not just re the United job. We seem to specialise in fans with a fundamental dislike of our team, ex players and even a 'tactically limited' Ferguson.

Anyway rant over, a surprising appointment but for some reason I think lampard will do well and will be clever in who he surrounds himself with coaching wise. John Terry is looking for a gig  if all else fails he can get uncle 'arry on the ol dog and bone
I think the difference is Lampard, Gerrard would likely have gone further down to start with (or have atleast been smart enough not to publicly state otherwise) if they had too whereas Giggs made it abundantly clear he wouldn't.

They've nicked Jody Morris from us (was our Under 18s coach for the past few years).

Expect Derby to get a few Chelsea kids on loan.

Also, I'll put this here...
I've heard Jody Morris is meant to be quite the talented coach, is this true? A Chelsea fan at work was really upset at this news because he was holding out for Jody Morris to somehow take over from Conte! Safe to say that was highly unlikely under Roman.

How they speak in front of camera has nothing to do with their quality of coaching or rating their intelligence. Some are camera shy and some can express better. Gary Neville speaks so well but he failed as manager.
That’s harsh.

Neville took on a impossible job in a country he never played in and a language he couldn’t speak. I would have liked him to take a championship job.

As for Giggs. The negativity about him like Terry comes from what both have done outside football.

That's the best I've seen Derby play since he joined. Usually they're pretty wank.

But it was against us so I still don't think it means much.

What's the verdict so far for someone who doesn't watch any Derby games? Firmly in the top 6 with a game in hand over the other 5 teams (a win puts them third) & a good go in the league cup would indicate they're doing well, but other than the obvious stats I'm clueless.

As Harry Redknapp once said, "he'll go right to the very top". Doing better than Slippy G who went to a two horse league.

I only know the stats too, and they seem to suggest that they're pretty much where they are every year as of late.

17th of December in each year:
2018 - P21 37pts 5th (play tonight, go 3rd if they win, 4th if draw)
2017 - P22 41pts 4th
2016 - P22 36pts 7th
2015 - P21 41pts 3rd
2014 - P21 38pts 3rd
2013 - P20 37pts 4th

Remarkably consistent considering they've had about 10 managers in that time including caretakers and Shteve twice.

Must admit I always liked him and I'm glad he's doing this good with Derby.

Of all the English players I think he has the best chance of actually becoming a great manager. He seems to actually have a bit of intelligence.

To be fair it's common knowledge that Lampard's one of the sharper tools in the shed, even outside of football he's success with investments etc is well documented.

He's been very good with Derby in my opinion watched the odd 40 mins of his game and the standard of football for a novice coach has been very dynamic. Nailed on to take charge at Chelsea if he can get some experience in the prem.

There's a lot of discussion among Chelsea fans about when he will arrive. It all seems a bit presumptuous if you ask me. If Derby win the play off he will be seen as the new special one. If Chelsea come calling after such a victory he would have a hard decision to make. Lets see what happens but with the transfer ban Chelsea are going to struggle and they will need to rely a bit more on their youth players. Who knows the Chelsea youth players better than almost everybody else. Jody Morris. He could come too. I'm sure Mason Mount could brought into the fray as well. The synergy is hard to ignore.

The season after next would be best. Lamps would have another years experience, trransfer ban lifted and hopefully RLC and CHO fully fit again. The Chelsea connection has played a major part in the Championship this season. Apart from Lampard, there's been Mount and Timorri having fine seasons, and over at Villa we have Terry as coach and Abrahams scoring the goals.

Another year of Sarri may frustrate the fans but it can only help the players to learn to actually play passing football.

The season after next Lampard maybe sacked for taking Derby down from the PL. Football waits for no one.

He’s doing a great job and I really like the high energy game he has Derby playing. He has Richard Keogh looking like a reincarnation of Baresi ffs. Absolutely nailed on for the Chelsea job at some point and I think he’ll do well.

I watched a few of Derby's early games and Keogh was absolutely rancid with the ball and I really couldn't see how it was going to work with him playing like that but he's really grown into the role.

Be a shame if he does. He won’t be allowed to build a team from the ground up with youth.

Be better off at a club that does

Yup, he used to be atrocious on the ball. He was bloody brilliant the other night against Leeds with his marauding runs.

I would like to see Derby promoted just to see what Lampard can do at the Premier League level. If he does half decent the bigger clubs will be lining up.

I'm not so sure about that.
We already have Chelsea youth now breaking thru -Christensen, Loftus and CHO.
Next season, we might well have Abraham, Mount, Timori, Reece James contending for places.
Would be fantastic to see Lamps in charge in 2 years time with 6 or 7 of 'our own' in the team. After all, that is something Roman has always wanted to see and why he invested so much into our youth setup.

Depends on who the manager is. If Sarri goes and you get Allegri in, he'll want funds for players. It's all short term success with Chelsea IMO;change managers every 2 years

Abraham isn’t good enough for an elite PL side. I fully expect him to be sold.

Watched the play-off and he was very limited in just about every department
He’s ridiculously limited. If Villa get promoted I see them making a move for him or maybe Bournemouth if they lose Wilson. Nowhere near good enough for Chelsea.

John Terry fan here.
Are you? I am certainly not, I feel sorry for Dean Smith having to deal with the rediculous fanfare and media attention good old JT gets. This game will be billed as JT's Aston Villa vs FL's Derby County. To be fair, I had far more time for Lampard before I saw first hand what a precious little man he could be, unable to take a bit of banter from fans as his team got schooled and pointing out fans to stewards in attempt to get them ejected. Then changing his story regarding some serious allegations from something being said to then it being a gesture, lost any respect I had for him and Derby after that. Derby County pulling some Real Madrid level sh!tehousery with they stadium sale to the owner at a massively inflated price.
