Is it wrong for me to say that he should be at Carrington and not on fecking holiday?

Another Anderson taking the club for a ride. When the club is doing well it’s not so bad but he must know how rough things are. He comes over as selfish and out for number 1. I’d love to be wrong but that’s how it looks to me.

I’m not sure what else can be done but sell him.

Alot of people had no issue with him missing the start of pre season to get married, so yes it's probably wrong of you to want deny him well earned mini break..

He’s probably on his 2nd honeymoon with his sister.

Presumably he’s going to have Christmas off as well?

Suppose he’s preparing for either a career in event management or looking to present a holiday show - he’s barely a footballer!

It’s not the attitude of someone who is chomping at the bit to get into the side is it? Was a very strange signing in the first place, and now we seem lumbered with another player who has no desire to play or improve as we pay him far too much money. He’s made it, hasn't he!

My post was somewhat of a mixed message!

    Here is my opinion:

I’d rather see someone who has not made a single appearance, due to him skipping pre-season to be training during this period rather than be on holiday.

I still don’t get it, tried looking back in this thread also but I’m non the wiser.

Why all this hate, is Fred on holiday?

If he’s having a long weekend during the international break and it’s been sanctioned by the club, why does anyone give a shit? Do you angry bastards really feel that an extra 4 days training at Carrington will make all the difference?

My question still stands, do you know for sure he's on holiday before saying what you'd rather see ?

I see is as misguided anger. Who knows, he could be on a special training regimen while on vacation too

Anderson was fine for us, especially early on. Fred on the other hand has barely featured at all so far

Maybe I’m being a bit unfair, Anderson was by all accounts popular. Fred does not seem to have been around enough to integrate what with weddings and holidays. Every photo he seems cheerful enough so I’m thinking there are no serious events in his private life. If that is the case he needs a boot up the ass

Although I don't think I'm angry (I couldn't give a shit about him like about 99% of our squad full of cnuts), I think that I'm slightly amused by how fecking stupid our players are. When you're in his position, when you're a player that has done virtually nothing to justify his fee or wages, when you'd struggle to name 5 games in which he looked above average (or just average, he's been mostly shit), when there's a tea lady and a doorman in front of you in candidates to play for our dire midfield, what you'd expect from a person with a brain is to lay low and work or at least he could've gone on his holidays, not posted a single photo on IG and nobody would ever know.

Instead, our idiots when things go shit for them do stuff like this, post some 0.012% cringe shit on their social media, give some idiotic interviews about being big men and having thick skin or further expand their 'brands'. Mata at least had decency to stop his blogging (which usually has more substance to it than 99% of the shit other morons do with their free time) when things were going shit for us. But then again I do know that Mata could be shit but have IQ of a human being, whereas I do have a strong suspicion that's recurrently enhanced by our 'players' that most of them have IQ of a withered plant.

They just don't see things the way fans do and it's not a surprise. Fred and the likes of Lingard have more than enough "material" to criticize in terms of actual football played for us fans to go OTT and just burn anything these players wanna share with their followers. We've become too obsessed with details when we don't have a lot of info.

Which is always going to happen at every sports club (and not only, applies to politics, 'celebrities' and all that) in the world, no? I mean it's quite predictable, yet most of them either seem not to have grasped it or simply don't give a shit. If it's the former, well then, if it's the latter, then I don't think that they give a shit about the criticism they receive for being morons.

I don't think they're that stupid, they just don't care about the average fan. Most of them are focused on satisfying the need of their entourages and receiving validation from them. Fans don't have much influence.

you're right of course. Why is the club allowing him to do what the feck he wants? Had anyone done any background checks on this guy prior signing him for 50m?

If he's on holiday, it's sanctioned by the club unless it comes out it wasn't and he gets fined. You'd think United would have encouraged Fred and his wife to do their planning for the summer. Or maybe it was deemed ok with the expectation that he'd be back after international break. If the latter is the case, I really question the coaching staff's ability to manage their resources. We're really short in midfield...did they really think it was fine to have a first team player missing for so long when he could use the team building and adjusting to the damn league? There's got to be more to it.

At this point, I feel strongly some United players need to be put on a social media lockdown. Fed up with it, they're paid a fortune as it is, they should, for that kind of money, be doing literally nothing but focussing on their jobs. And yes, that includes relaxing to perform to their best, but it doesn't include running away on holiday when you've done nothing, but nothing, to justify your wages since your big move.

Unfortunately, the club probably encourages the players to be active on social media, as it brings attention to 'the brand' of Manchester United.

Reckon he's got something lined up for Jan already and Ole's told him he's got a hall pass. Manager doesn't fancy him at all & also was annoyed about his wedding timing/general fitness. I had a lot of patience for him but i'd be shocked if he can turn his United career around in all honesty. Can see us signing Fernandes for a fee + Fred.

This is an interesting point. I also vaguely remember reading that the club owns some of the image rights of the players, moreso than other clubs, which is why we pay higher wages - not sure if this is true or not.

Well he got married last year, and had another wedding this year - so he’s probably having a 2nd honeymoon.

Granted these players don’t care, but you would have thought when your not in the team and generally regarded as crap and a waste of money - you would want to be seen as pulling your socks up and Trying to get into the team.

Then again we gave him a 5 year contract worth tens of millions, so he probably doesn’t care less about actually playing.

Yeh. You’d think professional would like to establish himself as soon as possible. But that’s what you get when players on long term with undeserved high wages. And playing for a club with no high standard and lack of leadership.

Let's be totally honest, he's been completely useless. Too lightweight for the PL and as inconsistent a passer as you are ever likely to see. Skipping preseason says it all about his attitude.

Once Ole is allowed to sign a midfielder or two I'd expect Fred to be out the door.

Bunch of Jon Snows in here drawing far too many conclusions from what I see. Nothing to suggest he’s awol in Greece or anything. If he doesn’t have permission then we’ll soon find out. People are still pissed about his wedding, but that was one week nearly 3 months ago. Should be irrelevant at this point.

We can’t really say why he’s not played yet. And I don’t think we can say he’s a waste of money yet either. He showed promise at times last season, and seems to be victim of a formation change more than anything to me.

With you up until this. He's been completely ineffective so far and at 50m looks like a huge waste of money.

His transfer is up there with Bebe levels of weirdness for me.

Doesn't matter if he is AWOL or not. Why does he need another holiday? He hasn't even played since last season and already missed pre season.

He shows promise for an hour every 3 months. And he's like 26 or something. All in all, he was absolutely woeful in his first season. Fans are right to be worried about him/the signing.

At least we only wasted £7m on Bebe - when we got god of Fred he will most likely be the most money we have ever lost on a player (barring players who run down their contract). If we sold him now, would be lucky to find a taker for £15m. That’s over £35m loss.
