Went forward well, didn't do anything else well.
perhaps, but I think what we saw tonight is that we need Fred and McT together. Neither are perfect, far from it - but they are our best combination in the middle. He keeps confirming this for me, he's not a good defensive player, which is why we have to use two rather one of him and Mctominay/Matic. It has nothing to do with how this or that the defence is. I don't like Lindelof, but our back 4 is not our problem, Fred and Mctominay are just not good enough individually to have solid starting positions at a club this big.
Bad memory. Sometimes he also forgets he cannot shoot.Brain fart for the goal, forgot he wasn't Zidane.
Exactly. Stuck with Pogba losing the ball and Donny hiding. A one man midfield. Nice assist but he can’t do everything by himselfPlayed in midfield by himself quite often, really.
By that standard, he was excellent.
The aim should be to improve that rather than let it sit that way. let them compete head to head for the lower partner role next season. Fred did show some good things today finding a few key passes, which is a stark improvement, but we need a player who can both protect us against counters and help our build up from the back. I'm sure Fred would look more solid with the licence to simply press his heart out.perhaps, but I think what we saw tonight is that we need Fred and McT together. He wasn't a one man midfield, he was equally as poor as his team mates, hence why the entire midfield fell to pieces.Exactly. Stuck with Pogba losing the ball and Donny hiding. A one man midfield. Nice assist but he can’t do everything by himself
for next season, sure and I personally think we would really improve with a specialist DM. All tonight proved was that Fred/ Pogba is not a good combination and Fred/ McT is currently the best we have, and by some distance. The aim should be to improve that rather than let it sit that way. let them compete head to head for the lower partner role next season. He got an assist and he worked his arse off. Gave away a goal trying to take charge, at least someone tried. He’s got his flaws but he still did more than the other 2 combined. He wasn't a one man midfield, he was equally as poor as his team mates, hence why the entire midfield fell to pieces.
He did something decent and something terrible which leaves him at a net gain of 0.He got an assist and he worked his arse off. Gave away a goal trying to take charge, at least someone tried. He’s got his flaws but he still did more than the other 2 combined.
I'd say he and Telles were 50/50 on that one, the latter botched a clearance and gave it straight back to them.Inexcusable mistake for their 2nd.
Thought he was rubbish overall.
Telles put in an all time hall of shame performance yeah.I'd say he and Telles were 50/50 on that one, the latter botched a clearance and gave it straight back to them.
Im not trying to say he had a good game. I don’t think anyone in the team deserves any credit when we lose but at the same time Fred was still better than Pogba and vdb. Two superior players supposedly. He did something decent and something terrible which leaves him at a net gain of 0.
The goal contributions aside his all round play was nowhere near good enough, same with the other two. He shouldn't be coming out of that game with any credit, it was a poor performance and he'll know it better than anyone.
HahaCaptain Chaos at it again, but what a tidy assist.
He really needs to make up his mind if he's shit or just brilliant.
That’s nonsense. Fred’s all round performance was decent. And his job was made even more difficult than it should have been by playing alongside a CM who seemed to think making a tackle or tracking runnners was beneath him.He did something decent and something terrible which leaves him at a net gain of 0.

That's called confirmation bias. When you actually watched the game, the issues we had were feck all to do with either midfielder. Bailly was determined to give them opportunities with poor tackling, while as soon as we brought on two reserve fullbacks they managed to get in down the sides again and again. He keeps confirming this for me, he's not a good defensive player, which is why we have to use two rather one of him and Mctominay/Matic. Bit of both isn't it. Make a pass to anybody in that position, surrounded by players like he was, and eventually they're going to get caught out. He shouldn't be turning into a blind space like that though. He should be able to handle being put in that situation if he's going to be a first choice midfielder for Manchester United, lets get real here.
That's as bad as people blaming Maguire for the Leicester goal.
Agree. I think the pass to Eddy gets lost because he put it over the bar. Second pass wasn't easy either. Pogs went AWOL yesterday and looked leggy. There was no tracking back either from anyone else either. Not saying Fred is the answer but equally Scott goes missing too at times. Some have permanently plastered 'flop' or 'not worth the price on his head'. His mistakes will be exaggerated and his good plays will be understated. He's also not flashy enough when you look at the other top European teams centre midfielders. His place should be As a solid squad option but he could also be a starter in a world class team
Well as a team we obviously try to get out of trouble by playing out from the back. So the central midfielders maybe more than anyone have the responsibility to be an outball for the centrebacks.Bit of both isn't it. Make a pass to anybody in that position, surrounded by players like he was, and eventually they're going to get caught out. He shouldn't be turning into a blind space like that though.
He was also the one who put through a first time ball to create the great opportunity that Cavani put just over the bar in the first half. Pretty sure it was him that also put a slide ball out to Greenwood in a good position as well. And then of course there was the through ball to Rashford that he just overhit. He did something decent and something terrible which leaves him at a net gain of 0.

Wasn't a miscontrol, pass was short'ish but thought Scott could still have done better. Then there's poor defending by Lindelof. Only an agenda puts that solely on Fred.....2 games in a row where miscontrol from Fred near our box has cost us a goal.
