Free agents/last year of contract - summer 26

As it looks right now, Gnabry and Upamecano are likely to extend. Goretzka is very likely to leave us.

How do you think upamecano has done?, last time I properly watched him was during the meme season.

Neves on a free, no brainer. Vlahovic as backup for Sesko, potentially if we get into Europe next season and end up with alot more games to play.

Vlahovic is struggling to impress in Italy and Mbeumo is more than adequate to start or cover for Sesko. So that wouldn't make sense.

Neves is a good player and if he's fit and free I'd have him for the squad. 100%.

He’s done extremely well ever since. Has limited the mistakes and gained a lot of confidence. He is also a perfect fit for Kompany‘s style and I would hate to lose him. I consider him a key player for the next few years.

Agreed on this I'd rather get a left winger if needed, then we have cover across the front

This summer for me I think we need to replace Dalot, 2 CMs and a LW

It's only a no-brainer if the player fits. With Neves he doesn't have the mobility you'd want in a modern Premier League midfielder while he'd also likely seek a very high wage, now that he's got a taste for astronomical wages. With the latter, he's failed to live up to the hype and is also a player likely to seek a high wage, and these are typically the type of players we've gone for in the past, a bit mercenary, on a downward trajectory. Just because they are "free" doesn't mean they are obvious targets.

I dont think there are many great options there for us. Maybe remotely Neves, Maignan and Timber.

Lewandowski on a free for a season could be fun to help develop sesko.

What a terrible idea, did we not learn from Ronaldo.

Bringing these legends of the game doesn't work, they don't like playing second fiddle and believe reputation alone should be ensuring they start matches.

Timber seems an obvious choice considering we're likely to drop an absolute bomb on one midfielder

Neves (depending on wages) could be interesting. Would he accept a sub role though as we need to get a more mobile midfielder imo. Maybe Kessié, again depending on wages.

Are Mykolenko & Mingueza any good?

There’s no such thing as a free transfer. You end up having to pay massive commissions and wages. After the difficulties we’ve had moving high earners out, I’d be very wary about a “free” signing like Neves. With no transfer fee, likelihood is he’ll be after at least 3 years on £200k+. If he doesn’t work out, you’re stuck with him.

Only name on the list that, I think, would be worth paying big wages for is Upamecano. Entering his peak at 27 and could get a good 5-7 years out of him. Chances of him wanting to come to us are less than slim, though.

Edit: possibly Mingueza. I know almost nothing about him, but he’s a right back that’s not Dalot.

Wouldn't mind Dybala on short contract. 1+1 he is quite good for Roma.

Dan Neil @Yagami

He’s available!

Also Harry Wilson could be a good pick up along with Sensesi
Had a look at a Sunderland forum and it seems he's set on moving abroad. Maybe Rangers or apparently a few German clubs want him.

I haven't seen him or Sunderland (bar their game against us) for a good while now but I always liked him. A lot of their fans seem disappointed that he wasn't given a run to see if he could make it at PL level but it's hard to argue against their managers decision when you see how well they're doing.

I know you were a fan and got me looking at him. Seems like he hasn’t had much of an opportunity this season which is a shame as he’s only 24.

I’ve been watching Trai Hulme too.

Sunderland fans still seem to rate him. It's just that when you're doing as well as they are with a settled midfield, it's risky to disturb it.

What do you think of Hume? I liked him. It was mainly when I was keeping up with Amad and before Mowbray's sacking that I watched them and a lot of their players were fun to watch. I remember him being a very promising FB.

Hulme has done well with the step up and played a number of different roles. Hasn’t looked out of place but low productivity if you like purely at assists etc.

I think he’s a good player. Crazy now thinking Amad was at both Rangers and Sunderland. One of the few times we’ve used the loan system well and reaped the rewards. Sometimes you just need that patience.

Some decent players, I think Harry Wilson will be a good signing for someone in the summer.

There is no such thing as a free transfer as you either pay the "transfer fee" in increased wages or a combination with agents and signing on fees.

Only one there we have apparently looked at us Neves so other than that nothing much there really.

Ryan Sessegnon is only 25..

Players to look at
Maignan, Senesi, Neves,

Stefan Ortega as a backup keeper.

I think Pope would be a better signing as a back up keeper and much more likely to accept that role as well.
Same, he would also add to our homegrown quota that we are really thin on right now.

Others would be Neves and Kessie. Kessie gives energy at squad depth in midfield. Neves helps build up play from the back.

Probably let Casemiro go. Sell Ugarte and try bring in someone like Anderson.

Then you have Mainoo, Neves, Kessie and Anderson.

Vlahovic seemed interesting but he doesn't seem to have the fire he once did a few seasons ago.

Lewandowaski could be interesting on reduced wages to take the pressure of Sesko. But it depends on what he's looking for and contract length.

Against low block, Mbeumo is not tested for his back at the goal ability. He had a stinker against Bassey in Fulham game especially in physical contest. Man City defense missed a prime Kyle Walker as well as more experienced CBs.

Ruben Neves is the wrong age and wage profile for INEOS. I doubt there is anything in this rumor. If we get 2 starting midfielders, Casemiro Mainoo and occasional Heaven, Martinez playing DM position should be enough rotation option. There is no point in ridding Casemiro only to replace his wage with someone like Ruben Neves for a longer contract (more expensive over the length of the contract) when he’s not even as important as Casemiro (sole DM in current situation).

Lewandowski & Benzema up front next season, both available on a free..
Might be 5-10 years to late.

Weston McKennie?

Watched him a bit in Juventus, he played everywhere in last 2 seasons, from CM to wingback, 10G, 8A.

It's not popular but I've always loved the Larsson, Owen, Cavani, Zlatan signings. Even at their age they know how to score and add a lot as long their ego isn't Ronaldo.

Would love either Lewa or Benzema.
I'd prefer Benzema and pretend that we signed him all those years ago

The context is important, Lewandowski on a free for a year so we can spend the transfer fee portion on a new midfielder? fab, Lewandowski on a free and a cheap or no mifielder, then yeah feck off.

Agree with this ... Bring in Lewa or Benz to mentor Ethan, Chido & Sesko, and use the funds elsewhere.

It’s also important say for example we get a champions league spot, if that’s the case you need someone with that experience in the squad next season as well as the added fixtures.

Come on lads, engage brains

We’re not gonna sign 37 and 38 year olds to play PL

If we go for experience it would be a Danny Welbeck at 35, PL proven and out of contract in the summer
