The 95% done thing was obviously BS, we are one of a few interested clubs, nothing more.
SShhh, you will upset the transfer muppets. Until Fab says here we go and think its BS too, plus more reputable journalists have also recently said De Jong wants to stay at Barca

Look what we did to one of his best mates. Can’t blame him for not wanting to join us.

I just remembered seeing this article last week on reddit of DeJong being annoyed with constant rumours planning to sit with the board and know their plans for him.

https://as.com/futbol/2022/05/02/primera/1651485182_512846.html?m1=cG9ydGFkYV9wb3J0YWRh&m2=QUNUVUFMSURBRA==&m3=MTQ=&m4=bm9ybWFs&m5=MjI=&m1=cG9ydGFkYV9wb3J0YWRh&m2=QUNUVUFMSURBRA==&m3=MTU=&m4=bm9ybWFs&m5=MjI=

This is the reddit thread. Apologies for the weird link. I am not allowed to post media yet.

This provides coherent to the story from Dutch media about Ten Hag asks Man United not to contact him every 2 days before the match day. Murtough has been talking to Ten Hag about the recruitment and Murtough and his people are working on it.

I wish Richard Arnold would come on the Caf and sack all the "This summer's Sneijder" type threads...

Yeah it's not happening. Makes no sense for Barca
It makes most sense for Barca. He seems to be behind Busquets, Gavi and Pedri in the pecking order, with Kessie coming in next month.

I liken it to when Barca had Cesc Fabregas and I think they'd be laughing if they recouped most of the £80m ish they spent on him

Wasn't it the same guy who namedropped Telles, Rashford and McT as potential Barca signings if FDJ signs for us? Or was that the Domenech guy?

What’s with the defeatist comments about how he’s too good for us and we’re a second rate club now? There’s a lot more factors involved than just the results on the pitch at the time.

If it was based at such a high level perception, then Ronaldinho was off his meds choosing 6th placed, UEFA Cup competing Barcelona over League Champion, Champions League competing Manchester United.
Ssshhhh.

This latest Moreno tweet, if he actually said it, is incredibly promising unless barca are using him to force another club’s hand.
This is one of those though that is just too good to be true. Won’t believe this one till it’s on Manutd.com

I mean, top players have joined newly-acquired oil clubs in the first generation of their big-money transfers. This wouldn't be so different in principle. For all we know, he might have grown up a United fan, or he might fancy being seen as one of the key players who brought us back on track. Or he might simply be in it for the money, and we could be offering the best wages. People talk as if it's completely inconceivable that he would sign for United, but it's really not. It's known that Barcelona have to make a big sale before June 30th in order to remain afloat. That could very well be De Jong. Maybe nobody else was in for him with an adequate bid? Maybe he really does want to work with ETH again?

Before anything else, we need an actual #6. I do not trust this club to buy two midfielders.
I am putting my trust in ETH and Rangnick to make cm and DM priority signings. If they don't they are no different from the other clowns.

Gerard Romero has decided to double down. He must be confident.
Romero is the only journalist providing new information. The other journos are reciting the consensus behind the transfer rather than intel about the actual transfer.

Why don't they just sell the likes of Depay, Dest, Trincao etc before de Jong? Surely they'll make €60m between the three of them and save on the same amount of wages.
Memphis is on more than 200k it will be hard to convince anyone to pay anything substantial plus pay his wages. I am guessing the same of the others. Think about them as you would most of our squad. They belong in midtable teams but their salaries are above what those teams pay in wages.

If you follow what he's saying, its not that different from what others are saying.

Nobody is denying Barcelona has money troubles and that Barcelona is willing to sell if United pay £60m.

Where people differ is on De Jong's willingness to do move to United, even if Barcelona are pushing him out of the door. Only a couple of sources are claiming the player is keen. Most sources are saying De Jong isn't interested in moving, even if Barcelona is interested in selling.

I think its pretty sure people at Barcelona are telling Romero they will sell, which is why he feels confident in his story.

ESPN are salty because just a day before Rob Dawson mentioned that United were rejected when we enquired about FDJ. Now packaging that news like this after reports from Spain.

It seems that you implying theres a special bond between ETH and FDJ, do i missed something because i've never heard news regarding their special relationship during and after ajax? And players will have many other things aside of relationship with former manager to consider when choosing their next club: the prestige of the club, the prospects of winning titles, reputation, country or city where the club is located, including inputs from their family. the prospect of re-uniting with former manager isnt going to cut in if the club lack of those, especially when other better organized clubs are knocking on your door.
He has been miss used at Barcelona so he is going to have to hope that pep will know how to use him but he knows ETH definitely knows how to use him.

Money problems and he is their most sellable asset that can generate a huge sum. The likes of Memphis they would have to sell cheap to get them off the wages like we would if we sold someone like Martial.

stay clear, we've been in this situation before with Di Maria.
Di Maria is a different situation. He basically burnt his bridges with Madrid thinking he'd get a big pay rise and failing that a move to PSG. When that failed he'd no choice but to come to us as we were the only ones willing to pay the money.

FDJ holds his own cards. If he doesn't want to leave Barca he won't but with ETH our new manager it may just convince him it's better to be in a place where he's wanted. I've no doubt if he did come here he'd be a model professional as there's no evidence to suggest otherwise.

It's simple Romero will be considered fraud if this is not happening but will maintain his reliability and creditability as good source of Barca if he gets this right because what Romero said is very daring IMO.
