Barca forum thoughts:

He will stay if he earns probably 25% of what he will earn in this season.

If not, then he will be sold.
Laporta is the kinda guy where if you have a couple of drinks with him and ask him if Messi will return to Barca for the new season, he'll crack a big fat grin and reply Obviamente or some shit....

Guy has Verbal Diarrhoea.

Laporta just said he has no idea if he put on boxers or briefs this morning. But whatever he chose, it was a financial decision and not a comfort decision. That if it was up to him he would wear the same ones daily but admitted sometimes a fart isn't a fart and you have no choice but to change.
He isnt saying FDJ is staying just pushing the line that it is a financial decision he will leave and not a footballing one.

TBF how many big name signings have we made and improved?

Folks tagging it muppets and meltdowns are so incredibly arrogant.

Our club is a circus, high time everyone was in full agreement and just accepted regardless of him signing or not its bad business. If he doesn't want to be here we shouldn't be anywhere near signing him.

It's fecking gas.. On the Ronaldo thread its "if he doesn't want to be here let him off".
Seriously, how do you know he doesn't want to come to United?

Laporte just saving face.
We are negotiating the FDJ transfer, Christ it's there for all to see.
He'll be a United player next week.

Depends how much they had to pay on the 30th, perhaps they aren't that bad financially for the foreseeable.

It sounds like take a pay cut and you can stay otherwise leave.

They can't force him to leave. They also can't force him to take a pay cut.

Has to go one way or the other this week it feels. He’ll surely be in the tour party on Friday if it’s going to happen?

Unless you know him personally then you have no idea. Why would he take less wages from a club that is desperate to offload him.
Likewise, you have no idea if they want rid desperately or not. Words from the guy who runs the club and the manager say otherwise

They might be ok with letting him go for a big sum to make it worthwhile but he's a top player. Could be a game of bluff and Barca are desperate but also not. So much conflicting information is reported on Barca's so called money problems.

You use the word "seriously"?

He's said it countless times already, Koeman was quoted only days ago saying he spoke with him and was adamant he wants to stay at Barca.

The player and everyone around him has stated repeatedly he does not want to leave and join United.

Or supporters are so incredibly arrogant its beyond frustrating that they just puff out the chests and say were United, who wouldn't want to join... we're an absolute mess.

So lets say Laporta is making up other teams that are in for him to force our hand, while using us and his desire to not join us to sign a new contract on lower wages. Damn thats a level up from days when players used us to get new contracts.

Nope, but they managed to talk quite a few first team players last season into cuts didn't they?

Sounds like they are doing it again here.

Find me a quote with FDJ stating he unequivocally doesn't want to come to United.

It’s a bluff. He’s dropped another club being interested at the same time as he’s mentioned De Jong’s not for sale. Trying to get that last little bit of money off us.

You just made that up in your own head, Koeman hadn’t claimed to have spoken to him at all. He simply referenced the interview whilst with Holland where he said he wanted to stay at Barca.

Yeah, if he wasn't for sale he'd have said that and stopped there.

Ok, but not sure many players take a wage cut in whilst they're in their prime though, so Barca fans must be a bit thick not to see through this if he does end up joining us.
Barça fans have their heads completely in the sand regarding their financial situation. The daft cnuts believed Messi was responsible for like 80% of their revenue or some bollocks, just to make them feel better about his massive contract for a bloke who “loved” the club

He has said repeatedly he doesn't want to leave, that means not being at United... unless there's some other alternate I'm not aware of.

How many times does a person have to say it to make some of you lot realize he's quite happy where he is?

By the end of the week, he’ll have sold him, blame it on the old regime due to wages and have brought in Lewa to appease the fans.
We’re defo in a situation where none of the likely 3 clubs involved want to blink first.
Agreed. He'll sign in a few days.

This is how negotiations work, especially in the late stages. You want to get your side into the strongest position.

Wrong.

https://strettynews.com/2022/06/28/ronald-koeman-claims-de-jong-wants-to-stay-at-barcelona/

"The only thing I know from Frenkie is that he wants to stay at Barca," Koeman told TV3 on Monday.

"In fact, a couple of days ago he said that: 'I want to stay at Barca.' But I don't know if Barca want to sell Frenkie de Jong or if they just need the money -- because I think he is one of the few players they have that has such a high price."

How and why would Laporte save face?

Everyone knows we have been negotiating with Barcelona and that Barcelona have financial difficulties.

Therefore, why would he say that FDJ is not leaving in order to save face? The whole idea that "he has no choice but to say that FDJ is staying" make no sense.

There is something more to this news. FDJ doesn't want to come here and now with Ronaldo leaving, I'm sure he doesn't want to come here even more.

I don't even see why FDJ taking a slight paycut to stay at his dream club is unbelievable to some and when he really really doesn't want to come to United.
