Elgin is thick as shit. As are most of them tbf.

Wasn’t too bad of an episode. People spoke to each other, worked together for once. MIY/Sophia stuff still just annoying.

I’m guessing in true From fashion the bones plan will go awry but also work in some way or form to give them some sort of progress. But something worse might happen as a consequence.

I think the bottle tree is the key to getting out of there and if you have a number on you when you go in it means you come out in the place that number represents. Tabitha had Victor’s lunchbox which had his address and she popped out near there.
 
Am I supposed to know who Clara is and what her deal was? Or are the writers so bad they're randomly introducing such things in the penultimate episode?

And Elgin...good lord.

All I ask each week right now is how much worse can it get? It's like they saw the trainwrecks of Lost and GOT and took all the wrong lessons.

Anyway. Onto the end!

Clara's been in it since the beginning I think, but I don't think this "deal" she made had been on screen.

Elgin must be one of the dumbest characters in fiction.

There was a lot that happened that episode. Didn't expect them to get to the bone digging so there's a lot to fit in next episode:
– aftermath
– Victor locked up alone with Henry probably gonna try and kill him
– Fatima. Does the golem actually have a purpose?
– Elgin and Clara. MIY will kill both but will he take either of their forms or stick with Sophia?
– Julie. Will she bother trying to time travel again or will she get stoned?

- I do feel Tabitha might die and then Julie will go on spiral next season and use her time travel/walking stuff to try save both her parents
- Elgin is an absolute idiot and the townsfolk need to start cluing in on Sophia a bit
- I'd thought the Victor/Henry showdown/kill would happen this episode but yes, I do think he'll try it this time.
- Fatima most definitely has a purpose with the Golem. Even for From standards, they'd not waste so much time on it otherwise.
 
Good episode finally with stuff happening throughout.

  • The situation with Sophia and Clara should have been explained, even if a quick flashback.
  • Elgin is a moron.
  • Still no idea who the boy in white is unless I've missed this?
  • No idea what will happen with Fatima / The Golem.
  • Still some explaining to do about how the bones help in the wider situation.
 
If a fecking tarp with a talisman works then put one up at the entrance to the caves where they come out. Problem solved.
 
Just caught up with the rest..i binged the 4 seasons in less than 10 days.. What a phenomenal show this is.. i haven't been that excited for the next episode since i binge-watched The Expanse several years ago..i really like the actor who plays Boyd - he is doing an amazing job..

I think that is part of the problem. The man in yellow can seemingly destroy them whenever he wants, but they haven’t hinted at the mechanisms making it logical he hasn’t. Since it’s a cycle where they will gradually discover what happened previously, they will gradually learn from the past mistakes, so while it’s «fun» to let it continue, it’s also a path to ending it.

We’re at season 4 out of 5, and there’s been quite a few paths painted as essential (lighthouse, dogs) but leading nowhere in the sense that it’s suddenly dropped.

We know very little of the cycles, we know very little of the man in yellow, we know very little of the no longer boy but still dressed in white. I found it a bit funny that Tabitha and Jade going into the tunnels to find the bones ended up being a 3-4 min segment rather than building it up to be a tensioned filled episode where they actually have to navigate the caves.

This is why season 4 has been a let down, the best thing about this season is that it's upset @Rooney in Paris

If season 5 gets made let's hope they are going to pack all the action and answers into the season.

It would have been better if they did a flashback to when the original people became monsters.

There’s so much left to cover there’s no reason every episode of Season 5 shouldn’t be a banger.

Of course it’ll mostly just be boring conversations though and people doing stupid shit though.
 
That was more like it. Below average season overall but the finale was enjoyable. Why do I feel like…

They are just redoing the Jacob vs. MiB thing from Lost?

Also, stolen this from Reddit but this will make you all annoyed realising how much we have had our time wasted

- the entire “Henry is going to kill Victor/the entire town Abby style” storyline. Why did Boyd even get Abby visions if there wasn’t anything like that happening…
- The Golem. Like WHYYY make us waste so many episodes with her stupid golem for it to not even - at the very least - have some sort of use in the finale.
- Marielle getting cicadas and the visions of being chained up, and her, Julie and Randall chained in that chamber. Like. Wtf was that if she’s gone now.
- The murder dolls from the lake. They aren’t all dead??
- The weird door in the basement of colony house that leads to the tunnels. Hopefully they actually use it in season 5 but I doubt it.
- Acosta spending time in the basement of colony house and finding..nothing I guess? Again, maybe this will be in the next season but DOUBT IT

Totall agree re Lost - that final scene was a very serious nod to the cave scenes in Lost. Hopefully it's a better answer!

Good points on all the stuff they raised in the season which they then abandoned. So frustrating - back to Lost - remember polar bears? Seems a lazy writing/ trope for these types of shows.

I really disliked the Clara thing. I mean, why on Earth would anyone trust the MIY? Even if you're scared, and a coward, simply self-preservation should kick in at some stage. She's been there years with these people and said nothing the whole time?

As others asked, why doesn't the MIY just take the talismans? I'm guessing there are rules, and events in each cycle that he can't break. I guess we now have the BIW and the MIY on opposite sides of...something. The next phase is obviously how much will eveyone kill each other, but that doesn't really stack with the monsters also being able to do the killing. A far smarter show could have been where the monsters don't actually kill anyone, they wound maybe and create scenarios that can lead to deaths but only by the actions of the town folk. But this is not a smart show.

If I were writing it, there'd only really be two possible endings:
1. The conflict escalates, everyone starts killing each other yadada then it reaches some great conclusion with burying/burning the bones annnnnndddd we flash into all the main protagonists being able to drive past the tree.

2. Or you go the dark route which feels more likely, and they flash to a world with no From town but then it flashes again to them all chained on the walls screaming or something similar.

I don't think there can be some scenario where a tiny group manage to waltz back to the side of the freeway.
 
Despite everything, this season slightly edges for me over 3rd. The tree is gone, and imagine if Vic's father actually pulls that trigger.

Honestly 5th one can be decent horror with interesting ending, if they can remove script restraints, and stop stretching time. There's even slight potential of Fatima having a Marvel type duel with Sophia, which could be glorious shlock, just in case, things get boring... or just re-watch Lost. It just works.

Imo they’re making a lot of it up on the go, which explains the vast amount of nonsense. I think it’s fairly clear that there’s no way they’ll be wrapping up the insane amount of detours this show has taken.

What really irks me is that there’s so little actual progress in terms of explaining any of the rules to make some sense of the man in yellow and the boy in white, or the children for that matter. There’s nothing about the cycle, the importance of it, what constitutes and end. Victor survived the last cycle instead of there being a complete clensing, does that matter?


The entire season has more or less been man in yellow fecking around, but not really enough, and he doesn’t seem all too bothered about ending up on the losing side anyway.
 
So we’ve one season to go and there’s still zero confirmation of any rules in this world. You need at least some anchor of truth to build foundations from. Instead it’s just people basically guessing and going off vibes for 4 straight seasons and random shit happening as a consequence.

There needs to be some sort of tangible hope or permanence of progress for it to be something more than just a show where the characters get fecked with every episode with no end in sight. To have that girl walk around smug as shit all season and no resolution in the season is poor.

Also so glad we got an entire season of Henry building up to thinking it’s all a dream, getting a gun and then he just gets distracted by a child and cries.

At least Fatima is kinda gone though.

I guess to some producers lost was a template to recreate rather than something to refine.
 
I quite enjoyed it but as it increasingly became apparent it was going to carry on for multiple seasons with supernatural nonsense and then end annoyingly we stopped watching early on in season 2 (I think). Not really a concious decision but neither of us obviously cared enough.

In the beginning of the series, that little girl is killed when Tabitha and her family shows up and none have come since.

The two stick people could be Jade and Tabitha with the moon on the left and the sun on the right.

towns people will try to sacrifice Ethan thinking they'll go home but they never do. Perhaps this is why Jade's former selves have been killed because he tries to stop them.

Sure, obviously possible.

There’s the voices (MIY i suppose) trying to get Sara to kill Ethan in season one, but it’s not as if he’s had a target on his back ever since, or Julie for that matter. Apart from the diner scene, where Sophie said something to Julie about Fromville being in decline ever since the Matthews arrived, it’s not as if there’s any obvious attempts to turn the people against Jade and Tabitha.

Bit like Abby trying to kill people so she can wake up from a dream/coma, Henry and Victor, but Sara trying to kill Ethan doesn’t really fit in with there being a link towards killing your own child.

I think it’s a bit too silly that so little time has been invested in explaining some of these mechanisms, especially after they’ve revealed that MIY has been active for a long time and he’s not a dormant force that they woke up by accident.
 
I'm still enjoying it despite it's flaws. It's fun, silly TV.

I mean it is ridiculous that they could steal every Talisman and not one person would notice.... Or that that one las would even help her do it. But hey, you go with it.
