But this guy will be as cheap if not cheaper and looks like he will have a higher ceiling

Mings shouldn’t be anywhere near this level. The crowd couldn’t handle smalling, if we sign Mings.. the horror.. the horror
Even when he’s playing well he’s nowhere near this level, this season Mings was absolute rubbish.

This may be a lazy comparison but he really reminds me of a left footed Bailly whom we already have at the club. Not sure if we should buy another one but maybe he can stay fitter than Eric

I imagine that even if he isn't going to displace Lindelof or Maguire, for 25m at the very least he would be a better squad player than Tuanzebe Bailly and Jones who are always injured

Bailly's barely even at the club, last season he only completed 619 minutes, 1,123 in 18/19 and 1,359 in 17/18.

Really? Bailly's lithe and quick. This guy's beefy and powerful.

After watching that video he also reminds me of Bailly, with his aggression in the tackle and physicality, probably a less injury prone replacement for him hopefully

Except with better passing, better heading, better fitness (to date) and probably less brain farts.

Looks like a combination of AWB tackling, and Silvestre heading & crossfield passing

Hopefully with less brain farts

He's left footed while Maguire prefers to play on the left because he's probably more comfortable there. How is that going to work?

I actually think we are in for him and its not just Lille putting our name in there. It's known we are after a left footed CB and this guy is a highly rated one that's cheap

Yeah agreed, I don't think Lille need to use anyone for interest really, especially at this stage. His price has been set and they've known he's off for a while.

I don't think we're interested. Seems like a story his agent has put out there.

If we are after a left footed CB then 25m for a 22 year old that was in the ligue 1 team of the season is worth a punt. I mean asides from Pau Torres whose costing 65m now there aren't any decent left footed CBs available
Aside from Pau Torres and Gabriel, we might consider Jordan Torunarigha and Benoit Badiashile. All are left footed, good on the ball, quick and (Pau Torres aside) good in the air.

Waste of time if we dont buy a left footed CB to make our play out from the back producing passes down the channels for players like Rashford and martial back like when LVG was trying to have us play possession.

Hopefully Maguire has the ability to pass down the right better than he has shown on the left aswell.

Gabriel, Pau Torres, Ake, Lucimi, salisu, Hinteregger are some of the well known options except Hernadez, Umitit, Hermoso, martinez,Leite, werber, Jack o'Connell & Mings.

I'd wonder who we go for.

Somewhere in your mind, touching a nerve
A center back with good long pass ability is important in this day and age where every fecking team seems to be playing the high press, even smaller ones. A defender who can quickly ping a ball out wide to Sancho or Rashford when teams press high is going to win us a lot of points.

We should not have sold off Daley Blind if we are obsessed about having left footed defenders. This guy can defend, can pass and plays with his head up

I'm not sure this makes sense. Maguire has played on the left most likely due to a lack of good LCBs around. But I'd assume like most defenders he'd be more comfortable on his right side.

Blind did well when he had Smallings pace and power beside him. He's simply too slow to partner Maguire or Lindelof.

If Upamecano staying for a bit longer in Leipzig, Magalhaes sounds like natural choice.

This one could be really perfect here  (LB or LCB), he has it all (technique, leadership, off play, passing, speed, defending, heading). I'll be happy with Gabriel, looks great value. Like Torres too but not sure about his capacity to deal with crosses.

It's been pretty obvious we suck at playing from the back so his personal preference has to take a step back. He'll be more press resistant and less prone to giving the ball away in front of goal on the right. He could do with AWB making up for his lack of pace too.

There's a trend of top clubs signing centre backs to able to switch to 3 when needed. It seems to be the in thing. Shaw did a reasonable job when asked this season but Magalhaes is a specialist and looks a good prospect, strong in the tackle and can play.

We should get kabak honestly. Gabriel is not that good on the ball and positionally naive sometimes.

‘Gabriel? Our sources mentioned him about 6 weeks ago as one we were looking at, but another source told us the deal was already done with Everton so didn’t really think much of it. Seems Everton have had a disagreement with image rights so maybe we’ve stepped in. Wouldn’t surprise me if something happened in the next week now’. (ITK99 aka Rozay from Redcafe).

He seems to be rated highly in France and for a 30m fee could be a shrewd move for us. Just glad we seem to be in the market for a young and pacy partner for Maguire. The defense was already much improved last year but I feel like finding the right partner for him would bring the backline up a few more levels
