43m, really? Why not 4.3m?

I tend to believe they missed out a 1 in front. Surely, they meant 143m? Am I missing something here? We are talking about the best player in PL.

I'd give him a new deal without hesitation as long as the wage doesnt go up a lot. Hes always available and has years left.
 
For me he was the Rooney replacement that we needed from 2013, it took us 3 years to get him in after Rooney left and I think it could be a similar story when he moves on.

It makes me laugh that people want to get rid of him while he's still, arguably, at his best. We could move him on and get a hyped replacement but we could be signing the next Wirtz.

We’ve given out so many silly contracts to players who aren’t worth it….its actually nice to have a player that I don’t begrudge coming to the club and saying, “hey guys, I deserve to get paid”
 
if he truly loved the club he would take a wage cut.

He’s at his best, but will he be at his best on 400K when he’s 34? A Salah moment in the making.

If we want to persist with a 4231 we have Cunha likely wanting to play in his best position. Alternatively we can play 433. Eventually.
 
He's worth a lot to us at the moment because he's essentially the difference between us having a chance of qualifying for the CL, or having no chance

Sarah in his penultimate season helped Liverpool win the the league. You'd hope we could manage his decline better

Completely different players and positions. Bruno’s game isn’t reliant on pace. Would you really be surprised if he’s at similar levels at 34? I wouldn’t be at all.
 
Giving a new contract is silly. He’s already on 300k pw, with 2 years left. When his legs go he won’t be the same player. If we have bumped his salary we will find it hard to shift him. Maybe we could lower his base but have higher performance bonus payments.

I would be. He covers a lot of ground. Once his legs go it’s not his pace im worried about, it’s his ability to cover so much ground, which he does at the moment

Just answering this because this is the last time I was in this thread. I think the plan is probably not to replace him and go with 3 in the middle. No other 10 currently comes close or has a similar game. I would keep playing a 10 if we could afford Bellingham or someone who is destined for bigger things maybe like Guler, Rodrigo Mora or Nico Paz?

Probably easier and cheaper to get another good box to box and hope that Sesko and maybe a new left winger once Rashford heads off can get the job done. Hopefully our young players can take another big step forward this season and we keep developing different ways to win and not be so dependant on one player

We should looking for his replacement not trying to extend his stay and presumably increase his wage

We might discuss a 2+1 with higher salary. But a difficult one as he is by far our best player but we dont know if he is still on top of his game in 2-3 years

At one stage we thought Rashford was our golden boy. Those high salary’s are a noose around the clubs neck

So his role evolves. Ideally with Baleba in the team and Mainoo looking like he’s physically improved and covers more ground, Bruno won’t need to run as much. He can just find pockets of space and then pick out a pass or get into scoring positions. His football IQ is off the charts, I do think he will age very gracefully.
 
Increasing his salary on a long contract would be a mistake. I'd keep him on the same salary, failing that, I'd rather him see out his contract for the last two years.

I agree. Bruno Fernandes is a legend and I think he’s still got a couple more good seasons in him. But if we can get decent money for him while he still has value, I’d take it(Next Season). And certainly not a new contract with higher wages .. not because he doesn’t deserve it, but because we should be planning for the future, not locking ourselves into bigger deals for ageing players. We need to be a lot more ruthless.

Yea, put in the option for to move it to 2028, he'll be close to 34 by then and likely will be a good time to let go even for free.

Another option would be, fairer, to give a new 2 year deal to 2028 with an increased salary to reflect his worth but not extend it beyond 2028.

And get rid of that stupid low release clause?! What the hell was that all about? We were literally offered 100 million for him and then we decide to stick a £55 million release clause in there for the craic? Players idea? But why if he's happy here? Maybe to get the club to get the finger out and keep standards high or else he's off? All speculation obviously

Largely agree though I would add that it depends how long we're extending. I think we could add a year to the deal without worrying too much but anything more than that I think your concerns are very valid.
 
Someone at Galatasaray must've been drunk (even though they are Muslim and prob don't drink!) but the audacity to offer €43m...i mean multiple that by 10 and even then it probably won't be considered!

Bruno could easily still impact games look at that pass to Mbeumo yesterday that vision isn't going anywhere, maybe he just moves back and we manage certain games like Giggs and Scholes back in the day

Low basic made up w appearance, goal n win bonuses. Then we don't get left short if he does go over the top in two years' time.
