Garnacho | Officially Chelsea's problem

Immensely frustrating player. Always finds himself in a good position to lead the counter attack, but inevitably f**ks it up. Oh well.

I don't think he's bad. He's probably also not good... Not sure what he is.

Should not be starting ahead of Estevao

It looks like he has a very specific ceiling as a player, it was the same at United. Wasn't bad today, but he's not the player you want to hang all your hopes on (which is what we did most of the time).

I’ll give him some time in a different team, but he got Marseca sent off! He sold the dive so well poor Marsesca contested it.

Lavia changed their midfield and garna would likely have contributed more than gittens imho. overall better player than gittens in this moment in time

Should only ever be a squad player at a top 6 or so team. Just doesn't have enough to regularly make a mark.

Standard Garnacho performance really. Great off the ball movement at times to get into promising positions but his final ball/decision making not good enough once in those positions.

For a 20 year old kid, he was good. I know there is a lot of hatred here but he was threatening today.

Dont know why he went down after a slight push, he had space and time to get to the ball. inexperience probably!

So far it looks like we're keeping it simple with him (ala his main task being off the ball runs in behind).

If we keep to that he should be okay, we have Palmer, Estevao and to an extent Pedro for the hero ball stuff. I guess the question mark will be if he's happy long term to play a secondary role like that but time will tell.

So Garnacho, Sancho, Rashford and Antony have made 13 league appearances between them so far this season and have precisely zero goals.

Thank feck we got rid of them all.

Looks good until realise we spent the better part of £200m on replacements for the grand total of 3 league goals, 2 of which came against newly promoted clubs.

I'm giving him a grace period because he had zero preseason. I don't rate him though, and never wanted him but I do think he deserves time to get up to speed in terms of fitness and match sharpness.

I look at him and I see Rashford. Decent pace, will get the odd goal/assist (probably not enough). Poor off the ball. Moody. Arsey. Thinks he's better than he is.

Rashford has 9 appearances this season with 2 goals and 5 assists.

Sticking him in this list and hiding behind just goals and just league appearances is disingenuous.

The one where he got in behind Szbos and went down trying to win a penalty was daft, he was in a good position and threw it away.
To be fair I thought it was a pen. Szlobbo clearly pushed him while he was running full pelt. But who gives a shit he is their problem now.

He is a liability defensively and was significantly responsible for Liverpool's goal. Unnecessary press into the center, then they play to Szoboszlai who has the entire wing to carry the ball down. He actually jogs it down, giving Garnacho a chance to catch up to the play if he had been hustling back, but Garnacho responds by also jogging back, leaving Cucurella 1v2 against Salah and Szobo, so they play a casual overlap and Cucurella can't get tight to Szobo and can only deflect the cross, which then pings to Isak and then Gakpo.

A lot had to happen for it to become a goal but absolutely inexcusable responsibility and effort. He basically just let Liverpool jog the ball up the pitch from deep in their own half and put in a nearly free cross from just outside the 18.

Also just seen the clip and that's stone wall to me. He gives him a good shove, surprised (well) VAR didnt award that.

That wasn’t a pen , a little shove like that wouldn’t let both feet collapse the way he made it look , it was theatrical as it gets, he then dived like 4 minutes after.

He looked proper proud that he missed a good chance. "Woaw I looked so cool doing that".

It's a foul and a dive for me.

I take your point but 2 goals in 9 games is nothing to shout home about.

Again being disingenuous. He's not playing as an out and out striker you look at G/A as opposed to just goals, which has been the case for years now.

He's got 7 G/A in 9 appearances. It's better than anyone in our attack.

Yeah hence my comment! I am amazed how people don’t let go. Good or bad - he is no longer a Utd player. Why waste valuable time discussing him?
People don't like how he treated the club and fans and so want to see him fail. Same as Rashford. It's like when someone gets dumped, they don't want to see their ex carrying on with someone else if they're bitter.

Yeah I get that but the biggest loser here is him imo. Now I get the Rashford tracking more as he is still on our books.

People forget how young he is, he should not start all games but he's got shit load of time to improve. he just turned 21. Players like Mbeumo, Cunha, Semenyo pushing for the world class level at much older age (beyond 24). If he plays another 3 years of Premier league he will inevitably get better. Let's hope not that much better for our sake but I'd be slightly worried, his application is usually very good and dont tend to pick up injuries which is a very good base for him.

So how do we talk about how many goals he's scored without being "disingenuous"

Be it Rashford, Garnacho or Antony?

Are we only ok to talk about it when they're scoring?
