Garnacho | Officially Chelsea's problem

Ravel Morrison played about an hour of football for us, across three League Cup appearances, was sold to West Ham in January 2012, did absolutely feck all with his career after that, and we still had people saying he could do a job for us as recently as 2021.
Morrison was on the verge of the England squad after his 1st half-season at WHU (following a decent loan at Birmingham), refused to sign with Big Sam's agent around Xmas, promptly got sent on loan to QPR, did very well there, came-back and got messed around during the Summer. He went off the boil after that ( a fairly-decent spell at Derby a few years later aside), but you can blame Allardyce [along with his ADHD and the rules around medication] as much as anything for the way RM's career failed to develop.

I'm not getting into how or why he did feck all, but getting "on the verge of the England squad" after a "half season at WHU" in 2013 (after doing alright in the Championship with Birmingham) is still "feck all" when you're talking about someone being ready for Manchester United, and especially so when you're talking about it seven or eight years removed from those heady heights.

You forgot the bad circles he ran in. He thought he was a gangsta boy back then. Allegedly he was in a car that was stopped with drugs and a gun in it. That was when he was about 15 or 16 if i remember correctly. Fergie arranged for him to go to London to get away from his gang mates (Gooch gang) in Manchester. Later in life he was charged with threatening to throw acid in his ex-girlfriend’s face and having her killed. It went to court but he was found not guilty.

However, kids with ADHD have a statistically higher chance of going into crime or doing drugs. Plus it can demotivate him, not great for a sportsperson

He's sat on his bed right now with his little white socks, stroking a framed picture of Bruno's face.

"Feel like shit. Just want him back."

The grass is not always greener

Pernaps a 15-20m bid to save his career, seems he has swallowed the humble pill. He's 21, many make mistakes at that age, he definitely has the talent and could be backup to Cunna on the LW for next season.

 good one, enjoyed that.

He has not shown it and the last thing he needs to do is sit on the bench in his next club. He needs to take a step down and play regular football.

Absolutely not. Even if he gets his head sorted out the fact remains that he simply isn't very good. If you're cool with aspiring to be a midtable team he may be good enough, but above that level he simply can't hack it.

God no. Average player with an awful attitude.

This was said last time around and he didn't even get off the bench.... Has he been playing much recently?
252 minutes out of 450 (last five games). Two full games, one half time in another, and short cameos in the rest. So a rather mixed package, certainly not undisputed first-team regular, but definitely getting his minutes on the pitch.

Actually a lot better then I expected, guess we'll see if are "jinx" actually comes to fruition as it seems he's getting game time. Has he been any good in these games?

Yeah, but that includes games like Port Vale, no? Seems to be the bloke they turn to off the bench with 20 to go on bigger games.

No, that number was only for the EPL.

Full games against Aston Villa and Newcastle, one halftime against Everton. Four minutes against Arsenal, twenty-three against City.

He has completed a full 90' twice in the Premier League in 2026. Out of 1080 PL minutes in 2026, he has banked 383 minutes, or roughly one-third of the minutes available. The majority of minutes he has picked up were in the FA Cup against Charlton, Hull and Wrexham. Those aren't great statistics considering he's not done enough to justify getting more game time next season.

So what's your point? The question was if he has playing much recently, so I gave the numbers for the last five EPL games. And then the answer to his recent gametime has to be that yes, he has been getting decent minutes lately, including two full games, and more than 50% of his potential gametime. Not fantastic, but also not bad. Who cares how much he was used in January or February if the question is how likely he is to play against United next time?

I wouldn't bring Garnacho back to Old Trafford. He's cracked mentally and we have better young prospects coming through the pipeline who should be given a chance. Alejandro had his chance.

Fair enough then. I know Estevao has just come back from injury. Still don’t think he’s in their first choice XI but he’s ahead of someone like Gittens.

I am not sure why you are being so aggressive? I made a point that he is not getting a lot of minutes in 2026 and that he is likely to see fewer next season. Sorry if it didn't exactly align with the conversation you were having, but no worries in future I won't engage with you, cheers.

So I'm the bad guy because you didn't read the comment chain you chimed into, and dared pointing out how your correction wasn't actually correct in the context? Cool. Good riddance.

Yeah, Estevao might well get the spot ahead of Garnacho if they already deem him fit enough to start already. He's played two thirds of the game against City, so it's quite possible that he's playing the entire game against United.

Gittens has been injured since the start of the month, so I don't think he's in the competition to play ahead of Garnacho, quality aside.

I meant more generally, not specifically for the game against us. Garnacho has his flaws but Gittens is rubbish.

Dortmund must still be giggling madly every time they remember how much money they got for Gittens. Absolutely insane transfer fee given how variable his performance had been for them. Yeah, he had games where he looked quite a bit the talent, but he's also had a lot of games where he very much did not.
No idea what Chelsea was thinking when they paid this much for him.
