Why though? They’re on similar levels and Garnacho displaced Elanga at United
Elanga just had a great season where was a pain in the side of many teams, while Garncho had a stinker and moaned about it when he got dropped on social media. No real mystery.

Mate, this is where I lose a bit of faith in other United fans.

Maguire isn't going anywhere because his contract runs out next summer and he can just leave on a free.

Shaw turns 30 next week and is on a big contract that doesn't expire until 2027. He was injured for most of last season. Someone might take a punt next summer if can stay feet, but we're talking a very small fee.

There is interest in Højlund, but only for a loan so far. We can't really consider that until we get another striker in, because unfortunately he's the only one we have right now.
Imagine if Shaw and Maguire were told that they wouldn’t feature very much at all next season and were free to leave- it’s the World Cup year, both will never get the chance to play another and that could/should be a motivating factor. The wage issue would be something they’d have to negotiate.

I have to say personally I thought Maguire did well last season and I’m not adamant that he should leave or anything, and I don’t dislike him, but he isn’t part of the future, and will need to be replaced eventually. Nudging him towards the exit now might not be a bad thing.

Frankly regarding Shaw however, I am actually tired of seeing him at United. Your point about the small fee is exactly what I was thinking- 4 or 5 million and thats an easy sale If some come club wants to take a chance on him, especially in a less intense league.

As you say Rasmus depends on how we are for strikers and whether the interest is genuine.

The only PL teams that might be interested and able to afford him at ~£45M are Tottenham, Newcastle and Villa. I suppose the likes of Brentford and Brighton could stretch with the cash coming in from sales but I don't see the fit

We'll end up dropping his price massively and asking for a sell-on clause instead I suspect, which of course will be worth peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

Performances and attitude.

In 2023/24 Garnacho got 13 PL G/A in 36 PL appearances (2576 minutes). Elanga got 14 in 36 (2434 minutes). So Elanga beats him in goal contributions per minutes played by a little bit.

In 2024/25 Garnacho only got 8 PL G/A in 36 PL appearances (2196 minutes). Elanga got 17 in 38 (2510 minutes). So Elanga beats him in goal contributions per minutes played by a quite a lot.

Add in Garnacho having attitude issues with both of our recent managers, plus the social media clown show he brings, and him fetching less than Elanga makes quite a bit of sense.

Garnacho’s quite a bit younger of course, but Elanga has more pace and power, which is hard to see Garnacho matching in the coming years.

Are we really surprised we are struggling to get takers for garnacho for decent fee, clubs don't want the hassle of toxic player that posts on social media before he thinks.

This the same player that invited ispeed to the fa cup victory after party...

For me this is the time for his dickhead brother to shine, he is great at tweeting anytime Garnacho has a hissy fit, but when it comes to actual agent/manager work these players entourage are all fart and no poop!

They can instigate a move themselves, contact clubs, do some proper work to get a move. It appears they all just want United to find them a new club, pay them any difference in wages while they sulk and cry victim.

His brother is 16. Why does everyone talk about him as if he were the player's agent?

Agent/Manager/Adviser/Entourage call them whatever you like...but like I said when the real work need to be done and a new club found it feels like it's all down to United.

The only thing they are good for is posting on socials.

He's 16... None of that should be expected of him to begin with

Yeah his mum just start making calls as well!

He only wants to go to an EPL club, apparently. So that narrows the market right down. There’s normally a premium for buying between EPL clubs but just can’t see that happening here. £40m is likely the best bid we will get, £50m if we are really lucky (but luck has deserted us lately)

40 mil? Look at a prices this year. Gittens, Elanga, Cunha, how much Liverpool and West ham ask for Elliot and Kudus.

55-60 mil should be a bare minimum.

The big difference is that those players were among the best performers for their clubs ns those clubs did not necessarily want to sell. Garnacho has done SFA for us in the past year apart from throw his toys out the pram and the club is desperate to get rid of him

Players are demanding where they want to move. That is not good for us as clubs from other leagues won't show interest and not many premier league club who need a winger. They can probably wait till the end of the window and get him on loan or on the cheap. Same thing with Rashford and Barcelona. We need to really put our foot down and be the one in charge.

Poll fairly decisive. Bit short of the almost unanimous verdict on MR, but still strong. Good player, amazing promise. Will be great for someone. But bit of a tit.

Except none of those players have so obviously been completely frozen out like garna. Hence why we can expect shitty low ball offers

He's not linked to anyone because he sees himself as attractive to a top club while in reality he is not. He hasn't developed as quickly as you would have liked to see, and his attitude is a problem for further development.

Chelsea don't need him, he doesn't make the Newcastle team on the left ahead of Gordon, Arsenal have other priorities and don't need another attacking mid to hinder Nwaneri and even Dowman, no chance Pep has any interest, same for Liverpool.

So if it is true that he wants to stay in the PL, then it's the likes of Villa, or if Wolves want to spend some of the Cunha money. He sees himself as better than that, so he either does go abroad to the likes of Dortmund or else he stays here.

He has fecked this up for himself.

I find this bizarre. An argentinian, we signed from a Spanish club…only wants to stay in England. On 50% tax…Nah. Not having it

I’d agree with this. My hunch would be his preference to stay in the Premier League is based on Chelsea following up on their January interest. Them signing Gittens (suggests they may have looked elsewhere so I can see Garnacho ending up disappointed and having to consider other options, including any abroad.

If Elanga is worth £55m then Garnacho is worth similar or more. Gittens sold for the same amount as well and he didn’t light up the Bundesliga last season. Clubs take risks to buy potential. When other clubs sell they always make good money on their youngsters due to the potential value. Haven’t Brighton just spent a fortune on some unknown Greek striker?

Garnacho has a 3 year contract and on low wages. We shouldn’t buckle because the player wants to leave. Players want to leave clubs all the time and the selling club still ends up with a decent price. We have to change the perception that we can’t sell well. If Garnacho played for City, Chelsea or Liverpool they would be getting £60m + for him.

It doesn't matter what we think he's worth if no one is actually interested in him. Its telling of our current state when 4-5 of our forwards are on the market, and between their antics, wages and perception, its this tough to shift any of them.

It's daft but how the club is doing overall often dictates how an individual player is rated. The success or failure of the club rubs off on the perception of the player.

Forest have a good season. Elanga suddenly £55 million.

We've had a poor season and nobody will go near our lot.

Swap Elanga and Garnacho around this season and how they're viewed is also swapped.

Same reason City and Liverpool get good fees. Buying clubs feel they're getting a bit of top class product by signing their players.

It's not just that the player wants to leave though. It's that by all appearances the club and manager want him gone as well. That significantly changes things and makes it much more difficult to get a good price compared to what are effectively hostile purchases where the clubs don't want to sell the player.

I think Chelsea’s out now that they’ve bought Gittens

Arsenal a slim possibility but I suspect Arteta is like Amorim and wants hard workers with no ego

Spurs a possibility
Forest perhaps?
Villa perhaps?
Newcastle maybe, if they can’t tie down their first choices

This whole thing reminds me of Guendeouzi at Arsenal.

Showed a bit of promise to be a good player but didn't fit Arteta's tactics, didn't get along and possibly some bad actions or words/thinking they are better than they are.

I actually think if Garnacho kept his mouth shut more then he would be brilliant for Arsenal.

Garnacho & Saka on either wings is crazy.

Rashford would have been better than Sterling aswell but Rashford's doesn't seem like a dedicated footballer anymore.

If AG really does want to stay in the PL, he must have had some encouragement from somewhere. Don’t see why he’d limit his options, especially on the back of the season he’s just had. Don’t see any club in the PL paying over £30m for him. Personally, I don’t think we will get more than that from abroad but we will see.
Should be the easiest of players to shift but clearly not - maybe we do overrate him more than we think.

I know it’s really petty of me but I’ve noticed he’s one of the few players in our team who haven’t posted any sort of tribute to Jota.

May be nothing but - to me anyway - it just shows what a self absorbed little prick he is.

I honestly dislike him - but not posting online condolences is the most pointless of all the criticisms. You can feel grief, you know, without posting about it online.

Read something similar recently and it does seem to be a valid point.

Indeed, going forward it'd be great if manager/player spats weren't played out in the media.

He is definately worth more than £30m - there are unknown players moving around for this fee who don’t appear to have done anything.

I do realise that but he’s all over social media about everything else. Just not something which is massive terrible news in the football world atm.

There was an article from a shit source (Daily Mail rings a bell but not 100% sure) which called him his agent, and people seem to have taken that and run with it.
It appears that he has the same agent as Amad, they seem to be the only two high profile players with that agency (LeaderS). The only other player I've heard of on their books is Maxi Oyedele.

Hard not to when the player (and his brother) have long been rumoured to be leaking things to the media, long before the current manager even joined the club. Hell, they've even been quite public with some of them.

I'm not blaming Amorim primarily, I know Garnacho was causing problems before his arrival nor am I saying Garnacho is blameless. But this isn't the first manager/player public spat we've had. All I'm saying is, in my opinion I think the club should be doing more to get on top of these situations quickly and not letting them fester. If a player is talking shit in the media fine them, suspend them etc. let them and other players know it's not acceptable. And if a players brother's talking shit in the media speak to the player (or in this case when it's a child the players parents) and get it sorted one way or another.
