Gary Neville - Pundit

More drivel from Gary. Although I admittedly haven’t read the full story

But he’s quoted as suggesting Cole Palmer would be gold for Utd

Based on what? 18 months of mediocrity?

We need CMs, LBs, SCs…pretty much every position ahead of Palmer. Especially when we have Bruno, Mount, Amad, Mbuemo

But regardless let’s fill Chelsea’s coffers again for a player that has performed so badly he can’t get himself to the World Cup.

These people are experts…apparently

If he wants to pick ‘gold’ surely he’d be pushing the Anderson agenda

He doesn’t half baffle me sometimes.

A number of years ago he thought if we sign kane we'll win the league, ignoring the fact more than half the team where not good enough

Rio asked him about United signing English talent who would be a guaranteed success like Rooney was. Neville said Fergie would have signed Kane and Rice years ago. Neville then said something like "Who would be the next one who might be available? Maybe Cole Palmer, although I think Chelsea would hang onto him". He was trying to be diplomatic when asked about the next English talent who United could sign. Neville isn't the type of person to say "there's no English talent who United could sign that would be 'gold', as Palmer has been a bit shit this season". I think it's just as simple as Anderson not crossing his mind when he was put on the spot by Rio. People are taking a 5 second snippet from a 75 minute podcast to create clicks for a transfer headline.

Fair dos

Not for the first time I’ve reacted to a headline. Good to know the context.

I'm enjoying listening to this. Two great footballing minds.

When he spoke about not singing the national anthem as a player, he referenced the anti-United sentiment amongst England fans at the time, where he was called a "Munich bastard" by his own supporters. He was also angry at the stick his brother and his best mate Beckham received after 98 & 00. It is interesting seeing how much he's mellowed out post-retirement.

Was a good interview, Rio I do actually think is the best interviewer of all ex pro's we regularly see. Gets good answers and usually asks questions that we want to know. He also lets the other person speak

Why would you waste time watching it all when you can just be outraged by one comment?

Are people still listening to Neville, Keane, and all that shite?

I'm going to watch very little of the WC, but what I do watch won't be on ITV.

Palmer is top class… I’d take him in a heart beat. One poorish season doesn’t negate what he’s done before and his form dipped for reportedly personal reasons (possibly home sick for Manchester).

Better to have someone who wants to play for us (boyhood fan) than someone who wants to be at city (Anderson)

Kane is a world-class finisher… why would anyone not want him?
Did you read my post? It didn't say anything about not wanting him.

Neville thought if we signed him we would win the league the following season. It was a ludicrous statement because a lot of the team where well below the standard required.

He couldn't win it with Spurs and at that time spurs where every bit as good or bad as United

Suspect you’re in a minority…which is fine. You’re opinion matters

But if it was a straight choice between palmer and Anderson, I think the poll results would be pretty conclusive

But we’re out of the running for Anderson… and I’m greedy and would want both!

Just watched Rio's interview with Gary. He shared a little interesting snippet about playing with Scholes. While some players would start shouting at teammates to get closer so that they can find them with a pass when under pressure, Scholes was the opposite. He would snap at Gary 3-4 times in a match asking him to go further and spread out, as that is when the passing channels open up.
