Geovany Quenda - Summer 2025

Same Rashford, days before a new manager is due to come in, tasked with halting the slide of the team to mid table obscurity.

Biggest difference - he's on £300k a week in the second picture.

This is the transfer I'd be most excited about given his potential I really hope it happens this summer

And also because he plays as wingback, which is a position we need right now and a position Amorim is using in his system. It’s nice that we are targeting player who we know where he will play and where he will fit in. Him and Amad playing together on the right side would be something I’ll be looking for next season.

Ah god, I get that Rashford is inconsistent and hasn't turned out the way fans wanted him to but I'd love to see evidence of him ever being out of shape. This is such horse manure.
Ah fair enough, it was late and out of shape was a poor choice of word - I meant he doesnt appear 'ready'.

For all his pre-pre-season workout for videos, he never shows up roaring to go. So is he actually training, or has he trained too much and is tired. Maybe his personal trainer screwed up the clubs training schedule.

I feel like this will happen. I think him and Gyokeres will be where we spend big this summer.

We’ll have to be quick with Quenda, I’ve seen City and Liverpool links to him too.

I'll be waiting in the summer with out 5m loan fee savings

He's on the left side, so maybe he is the chosen one for the LWB role!
Amorim played him as a RWB though. I feel he’s a nicer fit for that as he looks a bit more agile and technical than Dorgu

Really hope this one doesn’t fall through. He really does look like a top tier player in the making and supposed to have a great attitude/work ethic.

Does he switch left and right positions often for Sporting? Amorim said he likes players that can switch wings depending on the opponent.

Since Amorim has left, hasn't he played more as a left winger now since Sporting has gone to a back four?

I can’t see us having a clear run at this kid. There will be clubs in far better positions than us looking at him, our only hope is Amorim convincing him. I ain’t buying the story we’ve already got a deal agreed either especially as it’s coming from the Portuguese press. I know Ornstein says we’re interested but nowhere near as advanced as A Bola are making out.

Can’t help but feel there’s no “done” deal for him. Would be the signing I’d most like us to get done. Looks class.

I'm not even confident Amorim will be here next season.

Seriously? A coach with no preseason, players with zero confidence and a new footballing structure that has only got its foot in the door and you think we're spending more money on getting a coach fired again?

The club needs stability and time to build.

Yeah but thinking that it takes time is 'blind faith' these days

I'm not passing judgment on whether its right or not but we're playing putrid football and Amorim is managing to underperform Ten Hag's United with the same players. Our brightest players from the previous regime Dalot, Mainoo and Mazraoui now look like the worst players in the team. That is not a good look. Also, he's been given a LWB at a fair expense to cover a problem position and in his first game against the worst team in the league or thereabouts, he plays him as a RWB where we have stacks of options and then hauls him off at half time when he actually looked half decent. That's not to mention alienating our biggest goal threat after he had actually started well under him and persistently criticising the team in public which whether you think he's right to or not is going to have a negative impact on his relationship with the team. I'm not Amorim out or anything but at most big clubs, he would be in extreme danger right now.

Most managers if not all don't play a new signing for 90 minutes.

It could have been tactical hoping Dorgu and Amad would overlap since that would arguably be our most dangerous side.

And post Ten Hag we are changing system, it won't happen overnight.

Pep and Klopp took time to get their ideas across and shape the squad. This is no easy fix with any manager.

How about we stop rotating managers and actually have stability? This is the from the board to the players now. We need to identify a style and stick with it, people thinking about change already are premature.

Don't see how it makes tactical sense to have two left footers on the right hand side and expect one to overlap effectively if they have to cross on their weak foot. You could see that happening in that breakaway that Dorgu had which resulted in a weak cross and again with Dalot on the opposite side where he was in a dangerous crossing position but had to cut back on his right foot and wasted the opportunity.

Look, I actually like Amorim and think he should get a proper transfer window but I don't think its realistic for you to think a Manchester United manager who's seeing his team plummet into the bottom half of the table after sacking its worst performing manager in years isn't going to be under pressure. There's clearly mitigating factors for him for not competing but not to be performing this poorly.

I'm not even confident Amorim will be here next season.

Of course he’ll be here next season, might not be for long but I think everyone at the club is focused on a big reset.

Quenda would be a really good addition to the team but not convinced the fee will be as low as reports suggest, Sporting are going to want a huge fee I’d imagine.
