I can think of 3 times in the Madrid CL tie alone - most notably the opening goal at their place when Figo chips him

That's was a shot not a cross or a corner.

It was his last games for the club anyway, so obviously SAF had seen enough too.

I still reckon van Der Sar keeps it out though. I don't really remember Barthez doing very much that was positive tbh.

Schmeichel took a fair share of risks in his box play, and would from time to time only get half a hand on it with some ensuing chaos. What happened with Schmeichel most times, was that he would come out of the chaos with the ball in his hands.
You're always going to have times when things go wrong as a keeper. But overall Schmeichel was a dominating presence which relieved alot of pressure on the backline, which the backline themselves acknowledged later in interviews.

We've had CBs in recent history who really needed help in a similar way when it came to dealing with aerial balls. But unfortunately for them we didn't have a keeper who took advantage of using his hands to run out and claim crosses which made the situation even worse for the CBs who were already flawed when it came to dealing with crosses. It's why I believe that we should be targeting a keeper who who is physically dominant and will take advantage of using his hands to come and pluck the ball out of the air which is a skill that I believe is very underrated for a keeper.

Can’t disagree with that.

Where is Ederson going?

Galatasaray made a very low bid on Ederson (10m). City want 25m, so that is obviously not going to work so far. Galatasaray are also interested in Diogo Costa.

If they buy Costa, that would leave Ederson stranded at City alongside Trafford, which would make it more difficult for them to sign Donnarumma (albeit technically not impossible).

If that's the case then Donnarumma would still need a club in the next 10 days.

I still think the dominoes eventually fall for City to get him

Or he remains at PSG for another season, collects his wages for doing absolutely nothing, and leaves on a free transfer next summer to whomever offers him the highest wages and biggest signing-on fee.

Can't see that happening, particularly given his relatively high wages and the fact that its a WC year.

Italy will probably start him at the WC regardless. PSG will want rid asap of course, but as you've said, City appear to be the only takers and they need to move Ederson on to make the deal work. I could see Donnarumma remaining for a year in lieu of a mega payday next summer - he's done it before.

They would, but the player himself obviously wouldn't want to go into a WC cold, after not having played club football for a year. He will get high wages wherever he winds up this summer, so he wouldn't be incentivized to want to sit out.

Wages too high but I would not be surprised if we signed him out of blue. Would add another leader in our team. Still very young to be able to shift later, if wages not too high.

We could sell Garnacho/Antony at the end of the window and snatch donner right after.

I cant believe we'd be this daft and wouldn't count with a new keeper after how much points our men cost us.

One post states that he is on big wages at PSG, while another post says that his wages are not that high. What the hell?

It’s the same situation where one post says that City can’t sign him unless they sell Ederson. Another post says that we can buy him, but what about Onana and that Bayraktar?

We do agree there

I suspect you may be showing your age there.
If he goes to Turkey he certainly won't be blessing the rains down in Africa.

I'll get my coat. :p
Had to when I saw the opportunity, good work getting Africa in there haha.

This could be a last minute deal for us if City don't buy him sooner. I think we will have some sales on the last day and make a last minute low bid to see if PSG bite.

Yeah maybe, would still expect him to join City

Doesn't this have worrying Di Maria-to-United vibes? From PSG to us at the moment is a serious step down in ambition and stardom. He's got high wages. And he presumably has City as his first choice destination, so if we were to get him he'd probably be disappointed to be here.

Seems like repeating a lot of the kind of transfer mistakes we're meant to not be making any more under Ineos...

Potentially but have you seen any serious journalists saying we're negotiating for him?

The execs have been very good this summer with only targetting players who really wanted to join us so I doubt we'd sign him unless we got the same vibes from him.

There's absolutely nothing to suggest it's going to happen to be fair.

Not really because we aren't even close to signing him

Donnarumma solves nothing for City btw. He is also error prone in big moments too but instead he'll be making like 250k-300k. Good luck with that.
