Gianluigi Donnarumma | Man City player

So why can't he get a game and seemingly the only side that wants him is Galatasaray?

Because his levels have dropped significantly.

Like Grealish he won the treble and dropped way below the required standard. He was absolutely shocking at times last season.

Donnarumma solves nothing for City btw. He is also error prone in big moments too but instead he'll be making like 250k-300k. Good luck with that.
Yeah I’m actually fine with him going City as I think he will be detrimental to them overall.

For us, I’d be okay with him joining on the basis that he’s great stopper and there is definitely less emphasis on the keeper in our build-up, but if he wants more than 150k in wages (which he will) then it’s a no from me.

As Trafford showed yesterday, it seems a strange idea to revert to GKs with very average ability with their feet and still want to play 6 yard box tiki taka?!

Well I guess we will see if it works for them when going to the Etihad after international break

Imagine agreeing to rejoin city because at long last their mainstay GK is coming to the end, only to see them sign fecking Donnarumma 2 weeks later

Pretty brutal return for Trafford, one game and you’re suddenly replaced by one of the best in the business. Expect Ciry will somehow flog Trafford for a profit next summer.

They can literally sign him for a free in 4 months time but they might end up spending €40m for him. Good job PSG!

Pep doesn’t give a shit anymore.

Pep seems to have decided to play no control end to end football where each side gets a lot of chances.

So might as well get the best shot stopper you can I guess.

So did City just buy Trafford because of the buyback clause to flog him off for more later?

They surely aren't getting a profit on him. They bought him for £27m

Burnley paid £19m for him the first time, and Newcastle offered £31m I think (which City matched and got reduced cause of the sell-on).

Some mug will pay it

Were the Donnarumma links hot at that stage? I think that was when he was talking about expecting to sign a new deal with PSG. And City were likely getting a decent keeper for now/future while Ederson was maybe staying one more season.

I know a lot of people wanted him here, but I'd rather a keeper who is fierce in the air, claims crosses and commands the area. Donnarumma is very good, but I think his name is bigger than his ability.

He's been successful in two of Europe's big five leagues, is a Euro winner and a CL winner, so I'm sure he would do just fine in England.

That's just an awful way of judging a player. You're telling me that all players that win big tournaments are world class?
Can’t tell if you are serious. Donnarumma was key to his teams winning the big trophies. At 26, he already has 320 games in 10 seasons, in 2 of the big 5 leagues….And you are comparing him to Onana who only had 24 games and 1 season in the big leagues before we bought him.

I still can't figure out why Ederson at 30 is a bust
He’s not that good at conventional goalkeeping abilities to begin with. Even at his peak, he never belongs to the world class level. Looks like now he had burned out his passion for the game, after winning everything at club level.

Reading the City forums, it seems like he might want to leave anyway. He also seems to have picked up a few more niggling injuries in the last couple of seasons than he had before. With Ortega not being that good either, it meant they had to do something with the position this summer.

Also, Ederson is 32 not 30.

Donnarumma is an elite goalkeeper. Huge piece of the puzzle for City.

30m is peanuts for a GK of his calibre. We bought Onono for 50m

At worst he's worth a punt, but alas the ship has sailed
He'll be on astronomical wages and once he inevitably bulks under the man united pressure, he'll be another player who we will find nigh on impossible to shift! It's like people never learn!

He's a fantastic goalkeeper in his own right, but feels like the antithesis of Ederson. Not sure he's a good fit for City at all
