Gianluigi Donnarumma | Man City player

He'll be on astronomical wages and once he inevitably bulks under the man united pressure, he'll be another player who we will find nigh on impossible to shift! It's like people never learn!

What sort of mumbo jumbo is this? The man has moved from Italian champion, to French Champion and now City. But he can't be moved and people never learnt? The irony.

He's easier to move even on 300k rather than onono at 100k.

Have you actually seen him?
Exactly my thought. I'm convinced a lot of fans judge players by name however don't actually watch them. He's got a lot of qualities but dealing with Crosses is not one of them, despite his size

Mostly interested to see what this means for City's approach.

Donnarumma isn't good on the ball. A PSG fan earlier in the thread described him as probably being in the bottom 20% in Europe in that regard. And going from Ederson to that is a particularly big change.

So is this a sign that Pep will be going increasingly direct? Or is he going to try to make playing out from the back with a keeper who isn't suited to it work?

Either way, it's kind of interesting given the emphasis often placed on City's approach. Though given the biggest beneficiaries of any issues will be Liverpool & Arsenal, a slightly remote interest.

Excellent business by City. Secured one of the worlds best shot and cross stoppers for the next years.
Yeah he’s in that elite bracket. It will change how they play slightly but perhaps Pep will “revolutionise” football by having him bang it up to the big man Haaland. I wonder what fancy term pundits will give this when it happens.

Bishy Bosha in-comming 100%.

He is surplus to requirements at the current French champions because of his inconsistencies and wage demands.

His weaknesses include being horrible at dealing with balls into the box, sound familiar? You probably watched a couple of his games in the champions league and assume he plays like that every game. You know who else had a spectacular champions league campaign before joining? Onana! If you look at his weaknesses back then aside from that campaign you'd have realised he's got mistakes in him, the exact same as dounarumma!

Selling him at that wage when he inevitably flops will be extremely difficult, as has been the case with EVERY SINGLE PLAYER who played for us on those wages. This includes Sancho, Rashford, Ronaldo, Cavani, Casemiro, De gea, pogba. Will say it again, people have very short memories.

He's also prone to silly errors.

Maybe we have thought you can't trust Lammens to be competition for Onana and Bayindir so we have gone back in for him instead. Still don't see how we get around meeting his wage demands though so probably Chelsea are the other PL club rivalling City.

Suspect major click bait - as of course all United fans think this would be about us.

Personally would be delighted, can’t see it happening.

Who else would be interested? Maybe Chelsea? They’ve moved for a keeper this summer.
Chelsea top earner is Palmer on 150k. Absolutely no chance it's Chelsea.

Crossed my mind seeing that Sky piece. If so though we’ll have to find a way of ditching the existing pair before the Saudi/Turkish windows shut as five first team keepers on the books would be ridiculous.

Don’t think either of them could have any complaints if we did.

Mitten said there was Bayindir interest in Turkey

It's not much of a competition.
What I meant was maybe the club are thinking we don't need a keeper as competition we actually need an automatic starter. Having said that can't see him choosing us over City when they can offer Champions League football and meet wage demands.

The ideal dominoes for us is in a strange kind of way is Lammens to Galatasaray meaning Ederson stays at City and opens door us for get Donnarumma. I don't see this happening though as we wouldn't be able to agree personal terms with him so will be Lammens in the end.

Call me an idiot. I know his wages are too high and all. But if we get him, I think he will be the most impactful player this season. Not our forwards, it'll be him (unless if we get Baleba which is impossible for this window). I think Ruben and the board underestimate just how bad it is for other players, to play, and knowing our GK can make a mistake that leads to a goal at any moment in the game. Back then Rio and Vidic spoke about how VDS elevated the entire backline because they knew they could rely on him. You can play 6 at the back, if the GK is crap, it wouldn't matter. Remember young De Gea? we had the best defense in the league and still conceded stupid goals. We can't afford that at the moment.

My biggest worry is even if new players perform well (and they have done so far) but we keep losing/drawing due to Goalkeeping mistakes, at some point they'll be infected by this mentality of "why try hard, we're gonna lose anyway" we've seen it happened to other signings. This cultural refresh won't mean a thing if the GK is crap, players will become toxic, they will see their hardwork means feck all. So I have to agree with Rooney on this one, we need to get him.... it'll elevate the team instantly although it seems like we're going after Lammens instead. Maybe have him for a... 3 years contract? if the team is better by then we can consider letting him go. Like PSG did.

Let's do a fergie with berbatov and hijack him at the airport
He can go sit on the bench at PSG.

There’s no way we haven’t tried to sign him, he’s turned us down expecting to go to City for above his PSG wage. Let’s sign Martinez and get Onana out to Turkey.

The domino has fallen. Expect Donnarumma today.

We were hearing about Galatasaray link all this time. Now Fenerbarce just whoops in out of nowhere…
