Wow. Hopefully the other fire was going long enough for people in the immediate area to evacuate.
I heard that members of the fire department were trying to extinguish the fire when the main explosion happened.Wow. Hopefully the other fire was going long enough for people in the immediate area to evacuate.
Terrible stuff.Tweet

I thought the building next to the explosion was gonna be flattened, but it survived, barely. Crazy scenes.
That is terrifying.
It’s something a shit load more explosive than fireworks, we’ve all seen a firework warehouse fire before and it doesn’t resemble Hiroshima.Fireworks me arse.
Oh man, heartbreaking to think of the first responders (both fire and medical) that were probably killed.I heard that members of the fire department were trying to extinguish the fire when the main explosion happened.

I know the force of that is something else. It’s something a shit load more explosive than fireworks, we’ve all seen a firework warehouse fire before and it doesn’t resemble Hiroshima.
Red smoke is a giveaway that this isn't just a fireworks explosion.Fireworks me arse.
Well, we don’t all have actual experts messaging us right away on something that just happened so we’re just talking here.I love all the experts in this thread saying how this isn't fireworks, when you've got actual experts saying it very much looks like a fireworks + something else explosion.

Perhaps you could do us a favour and link us some actual experts eh?I love all the experts in this thread saying how this isn't fireworks, when you've got actual experts saying it very much looks like a fireworks + something else explosion.

Bodies still being found under rubble and retrieved to hospitals.73 Dead and around 3700 injured. Feck
Those sparking blasts before the big one look very much like fireworks to me, oates.Perhaps you could do us a favour and link us some actual experts eh?
This video is the closest one I've seen so far and doesn't sound like multitudes of fireworks exploding, but I'm no expert. I recall a fireworks warehouse in Sussex on fire around 10 years ago and didn't sound similar.

You’ve been to some shit bonfires then. Those sparking blasts before the big one look very much like fireworks to me, oates.
Just doesn't sound like it to me and I'd have thought more like ammunition but I'd count you an expert on those. Those sparking blasts before the big one look very much like fireworks to me, oates.
Yeah, ammunition doesn't make those bright sparks. While it will pop, it's usually magnesium, a common additive to fireworks, that burns bright white like the sparking we see before the main blast.Just doesn't sound like it to me and I'd have thought more like ammunition but I'd count you an expert on those.
Just not helpful is it to post a twitter post saying "I'm calling this Beirut thing" as it says nothing of much and meanwhile clever dick knows as much as any of us.
This video shows what looks like are fireworks going off in the first explosion.Just doesn't sound like it to me and I'd have thought more like ammunition but I'd count you an expert on those.

Even nimic twitter “expert” clearly reckons nitrate was the massive explosion which we are all saying obviously wasn’t fireworks.Tweet

Yeah, I think it might've just been sitting there for seven years.Ah, feck. That's a horrible tragedy.
Edit, wait, why do the dates not make sense, has it been sitting there for years? Surely they'd have liquidated it before now?
Well even a stopped clock like @nimic is right twice a day but I think you may be confusing the two explosions.Even nimic twitter “expert” clearly reckons nitrate was the massive explosion which we are all saying obviously wasn’t fireworks.
Seems more and more reporting on nitrate now.
Hahaha, welcome to nepotism/corruption/negligence.Ah, feck. That's a horrible tragedy.
