This is big news and deserves a dedicated thread. They have been trying to get their foot into cricket for a while but this is a serious bid. And, it begs the question. What does it mean for us?

Can we finally dream of being free from their clutches. And, it also involves a bigger question as to why even a tenth of this money was never put by them into the club. There should be a serious protest from our match-going fans over this news.

They will leverage more debt onto United to afford this. Well, I wouldn’t put it past them. They are a parasitic virus.

What does it mean for us?

My take on the whole thing from when they were trying to sell the club was that there's a rift amongst the Glazers and some wanted to exit and get their money out and some wanted to stay (Avram / Joel). The guys who wanted to leave were vocal enough that they managed to take some money off the table when INEOS bought into the club.

Given all of this, I thought one little push (like last season when we finished 15th) would be enough to convince the holdouts that sports investing wasn't for them and get out. I'm less optimistic for this outcome now .. They might still decide cricket investing / sports investing is fine but United aren't worth it and feck off but I doubt it.

The probability that they sell dropped in my book.

I heard it was .1% up front

Who knows. It means that fans of whoever that is should be protesting none stop to avoid the fecking rats

So he can not 1.8bn but he can’t afford to get United out of debt

Or are India gonna make the same mistake and allow them to buy the club with a load of debt on it

How much could you possiby make from Cricket in india?

I know it's massive over there, but is it really worth an investment of almost 2bn?

I don’t think them making what will almost certainly be a highly leveraged bid for an IPL team will have much impact on us.

Never underestimate the scale of India, I would bet it's more lucrative already from broadcasting than the Premier League.

So bascially United are paying for the scum to get themselves into cricket.

How about returning the money you stole from United first before you go and buy something else you can't afford.

Yeah, I have zero interest in cricket, but I know it's a huge market. But is a cricket team really worth almost 2bn there and is there money to be made from it?

If they get more money from broadcasters than the Premier League and pay footballer like salaries, then I assume the answer is a feck tonne of money can be made!

It's a combination of vanity and greed for them. They couldn't give a f*ck about sporting achievements but love collecting dividends and boasting about these massive clubs they own when rubbing shoulders with other evil billionaires on Epstein island.

An absolute disgrace that they’re allowed to splash the cash on another venture when they’ve not cleared anything from our debt. This despite the fact they’ve had over a billion invested in a part takeover.

Capitalism babbyyyy

IPL media rights is about 1.2 billion a year with per match valued at 16.8 Million.

dont do it to yourself

Never heard of the team but for the sake of their fans I hope the Glazers don't get their mitts on them.

Shouldn’t be allowed to buy clubs in any sport and use the funds to put them in debt like they did with us.

Which should really stop them buying another club in any sport altogether.

RCB is quite similar to United, in a commercial sense. Can make a lot of money without having any success on the pitch. Therefore it's no wonder that the leaches are looking at it.

Tomorrow's batting order

1. Sesko
2. Mbuemo
3. Fernandes
4. Maguire
5. Casemiro
6. Amad
7. Mainoo
8. Cunha
9. Dalot
10. Martinez
11. Lammens

I honestly think the club is still on the market but no one is willing to match their valuation.

The IPL overtook the PL in terms of sports media property a couple of years ago, and is second only to the NFL.

It's top 10 in terms of broadcasting revenue.

I was genuinely ignorant of how much money there is involved in it. So I had a look, 1.5bn a year broadcasting rights, puts it above Serie A, Bundesliga & F1 annually. Top players earning up to 2 - 2.5m/year, which puts it on par with most of the averages of top 5 or 6 European football leagues.

So, it looks like there's plenty of money to be made, which makes sense to why these leaches would be looking that way.

Glazers have bid for Rajasthan Royals and Rcb both it seems. Can get one only though.

Competition for Rcb being much more fierce.

They had also bid less than 688 million that was paid for Ahmedabad in 2021. So they clearly want in and since then valuations have doubled only.

Yeah it's crazy there - their biggest cricketers will earn more than most footballers (top end IPL guys on £20m a year) which is about the same as Casemiro!

In a dream world the PL or some ruling body would prevent them from this takeover while United are still in such heavy debt. Obviously a pipe dream.

Btw, Raine group which handled the United sale is also handling the sale of Rajasthan Royals.

Really? Do that many people actually watch it? Eye-popping numbers . Just wondering who (ie broadcasters) is paying for this and where the customer base is located. Amazing numbers for a sport that isn't played worldwide like football.

It's a slap in the face to us United fans. I don't think people realize that without the Glazer debt, we would have the financial muscle that City has but legitimately. We wouldn't need to become a Sportwashing project because this club and it's fanbase consistently has us amongst the highest revenue earners in world football despite the decline from where we were.

We as fans wouldn't have to argue amongst each other about shipping out our best midfielder for the last 2 years solely because he's on high wages or ever consider selling our best players if the price was right. Nor should fans be told that they have to pay extra for tickets to help the club because the owners who made millions off us, fecked up with their incompetence. And lets say INEOS fixes the club, tickets aren't going to go back down.

They've wrecked this club and now they see an opportunity with cricket to make money. The only hope is they get so invested with it that they would be more willing to sell at a reasonable price because nobody is going to pay the 6 Billion for a club that is a billion in debt and needs a new stadium. Even the thought of them paying very little for their initial shares and then walking away with a couple billion is fecking sickening.

RIP RCB. My thoughts are with their fans.

Seriously though, the Glazers should be in prison for embezzlement. They’ve taken billions out of this club and not invested a single penny into it. The worst owners of any major football club, by far.

Last final had 169 million TV viewers and yes its really really big and likely will only grow.
