We can blame the Glazers as much as we like, but the fact is, they are business men, not fans. If we are going to lay the blame at anyone’s door, lay it at the door of the 1991 Board, Chaired by Martin Edward who launched the IPO to take the club Public. We invested heavily in the following year or two, buying players, expanding the ground etc with the money raised and we were congratulating ourselves on how clever we had been. However, by going Public, we lay ourselves at the mercy of people like the Glazers. As a mate of mine who supports the other lot from Beswick said to me at the time, ‘you’ve suckled on the Devils cock and now the time has arrived to swallow.’
Brilliant post, I'm firmly against how the Glazers run this club but you're right, we let the parasites in.

I've avoided this thread like its the plague, so sorry for such a basic question but for the green and gold people who do you want replace the Glazers ?
Sir Jim Ratcliff who is a United fan, were even reports that he contacted the Glazers for a potential sale. A Chinese billionare who wants to compete and not milk the club, there are more people than the Saudis who could potentially take over the club.

What do you suggest?

Rolling over and having our tummies ticked. While enjoying mid table mediocrity, under spending relative to our club income?
I suggest spoilt brat kids don't tweet our club legends abuse on twitter, I suggest people stop attacking match going fans on twitter. I suggest hypocritical foreign fans stop tweeting #GlazerOut while simultaneously buying club merchandise, look at the shirts on the tour. The movement is utterly pointless, will and has achieved nothing. Many United fans have been Glazer Out since the take over, just because you’re not behind a stupid twitter hashtag that does nothing in the real world doesn’t mean you like the glazers.

They’re now attacking United fans for calling the #GlazerOut campaign stupid by calling them “Top Reds” (whatever that means) some of those people being called Top Reds as an insult actually went on marches years ago and did something more than tweeting a hashtag from behind their computer. The #GlazerOut Protest had about 12 people outside Old Trafford which was embarrassing, it isn’t backed by the supporters trust. Just a complete waste of time that lacks any direction what so ever.

That's just more criticism. Not really a suggestion. No matter how futile and spoilt you think it is - they are trying something. If you agree with the sentiment but not the plan, why not offer alternatives?

What do you suggest fans should do if they want the Glazers out?

If I”m not mistaken,we still top the PL Wage bill. The owners agreed to pay 500,000 pounds per week for a 29 year old last season...I think that more than money,it’s the lack of a proper structure that’s holding us back. The owners are responsible for not appointing a DOF and for giving too much power to Woodward, but I don’t think that they aren’t ready to invest in the club....

Best reply I’ll see in this thread.

You just decribed my feelings on the matter to a tee.

Well said that man.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe doesn't have the money to purchase United, in order to do it he would have to sell the lucrative shares that he currently possesses or do a leveraged buyout. And someone that decided to move to Monaco in order to pay less taxes is guaranteed to milk the club like nobodies business.

Good post. It's infuriating how fans who've never been to a game feel free to criticise the lack of action by locals. It also shows how oblivious they are to the recent history of the club, as they don't seem aware of how the fans fought Murdoch's attempted takeover, protested the Glazer takeover so aggressively that they needed to be escorted into the ground, fully embraced the green and gold campaign and even gave up a lifetime's passion to set up a new club.

We've been fighting these leeches since these Johnny-come-latelys were 5 year olds wearing Beckham shirts and yet they've got the nerve to rant from distant shores about our indifference towards a fecking hashtag.

Trust us, we love this club and would love nothing more than to oust those hideous cretins. But we're old enough and wise enough to know that a disorganised media blitz can only achieve so much. And 17 people on the forecourt won't achieve much either.

Maybe so, but we can just speculate.Thing is that the people defending the Glazers keep using "it's the Glazers or the Saudis" which is over the top. There are several people and companies in the world that would have the spending power to buy the club without the intent to use it as a milk-cow. In the end whatever is said on here won't change anything, it is what it is. I'm certain the rats ( Glazers) will jump ship in a few years if we are cemented in mediocricy.

No one is using the club as a milk cow though *. As I said before, Glazers take out 20m in dividends per year (4m of which go to the other owners). That is an insignificant amount of money considering United's revenue.

There is absolutely no guarantee that the new owner (even assuming that they buy the club on cash, so no debt, and don't take any money out) will be better than Glazers at managing it. Now, I am far from a fan of how the club has been recently managed, but why do people think that some other businessman who has no clue about football will do it any better?

Which brings us to the conclusion that people actually don't want a change of ownership, but want a sugar daddy. He can be bad at managing but as long as he throws money to the problem (see City), in long term it will likely work. And the only plausible owner like that is Saudi Arabia. No one else is gonna spend 4 billion in the club, and then still continue spending his own money there.

* The milk cow for Glazers comes from the value of the shares. And you would expect that if the club does better, the share value will increase. So it is on Glazers best interest that the club does well. Which is why (I think) they have been happy spending a shitload of money in transfers, wages and agent fees, money which they could have pocketed instead.

Second link is quite extensive and has our finances broken down, now instead of me just taking your word that they are not milking the club, please link me something that supports your claim.

Tbere isn't a single company that would purchase the club and make as much money from it as they can, that's the entire purpose of a company. As for wealthy people, none of the people that you would like and trust as owners are dumb enough to waste +4bn in a football club, these people don't really do in sentiments.

Some of you are living on a different planet, billionaires didn't become billionaires by throwing billions through the windows. The only option is a sovereign fund which means being linked to a state because these are the only ones that actually have billions of cash, outside of banks.

25 years a fan and I can say that this is without doubt, the worst united squad I've seen in my time. 10 years ago, our current first team would be our reserve team. There's not a single player in this squad that walks into the starting lineup of our 07 - 09 team. Absolutely shocking. Not even De Gea, he's a fantastic shot stopper but not a patch on Van der Sar when it's comes to being an all round world class goalkeeper.
I remember a few year's back being absolutely furious with Rooney when he called out the hierarchy for a lack of ambition. I, like a lot of United fans wanted him out of then club. Looking back now, Rooney was right to call these F**kers out.
We sold Ronaldo for £80 million. Robben and Sneijder were then available for a combined £35 million, Bargain!
Who did we sign, Tony Valencia from Wigan and a crocked Liverpool legend. If the Glazers had any ambition Valencia would have been signed as backup for Robben.
United never spent over 25 million on a player for 3 years after Ronaldo's departure. We allowed City to sign Toure, Silva, Kompany and Aguero uncontested.
We had Hazard in 2012 only to pull out due to agent fee's. Chelsea step in and sign one of the best players of the decade. United sign Kagawa!
We Haven't had a right winger for 5 years. FIVE YEARS!!!! THIS CLUB IS BEING RUN BY THE F**KING MUPPETS
GLAZERS OUT!!!!

Just read this and it's 100% spot on.

As said our current first choice 11(quality wise)resembles the teams that we used to field in the league cup pre 2009.

Where exactly it is showing that they are milking the club?

Fact: The only dividend United has given since Glazers bought the club, it has been 20m for year for the last 4 years.

Myth: If United doesn't spend too much in transfers, then Glazers are getting that money for themselves.

United is a publicly traded company, it cannot give money to owners unless it is in dividends. And when it it, it has to be reported. Best way of understanding United's finances is by reading the sheets the club posts (which they are required to do by law, and putting false info there is a criminal offence), not by reading MUST propaganda.

Exactly what the second link has done, from the time of their take-over until last season. You just shut down the conversation by calling it propaganda, without producing anything to support your claims. Might aswell end it here.

And it doesn't support your point. Interestingly the author of the article explains its purpose in the comments.
