Graham Potter | West Ham manager

Exciting appointment for West Ham. Potter could be the one to get better results and finish higher (like Moyes in those few seasons) and also do it playing some nice football.

Not sure this will end well for Potter...
If they give him time he’ll be fine. He may struggle at the start like we have under Amorim as he’ll be implementing his own system mid way through the season.

My point is, I'm not sure he'll get enough time. I quite like the guy although happy he wasn't hired by us

He won't get time because Everton can't afford to go down.

I think he’ll struggle as West Ham seem to have expectations higher than reality. Moyes did as well as could be expected and yet it wasn’t enough. The PL had so many good, well resourced, well run teams. They’re competing with Spurs, Us (oh dear) Brentford, Brighton, Fulham etc even for top of the bottom half

How long is Bowen out for?

You’re very light up front. You need goals in your squad

Back sometime in February I think.

Expect us to sign a striker because we have Bowen, Antonio and Fullkrug all injured - Ings and Antonio are both out of contract in the summer too.

rumour is we want Ferguson from Brighton and we are looking at several players from Chelsea

He's not doing a great job so far.
Yeah but guess he's been okay. Win at Emirates high point so far. Will be interesting to see West Ham after he has a preseason with them. Really liked Potter's Brighton (he did well at Ostersunds and Swansea as well) and then he wasn't doing that bad with Chelsea before the sack either given that it got worse under Lampard and then Pochettino wasn't special either. Chelsea not that great under Maresca atm as well so think time proved that Chelsea stint perhaps didn't do too much harm to Potter's reputation.

The well oiled Brighton machine made him look good, as it did with De Zerbi. It's why I'm not buying the Hurzeler hype either.

Is De Zerbi that bad? 2nd with Marseille with his group reprobates isn't that bad. PSG are miles ahead in terms of everything.

Hiring a manager who has never had a PL team that scores goals, not scoring goals shocker.

This seems a weird time to be criticising him. His last 4 results are 2 wins (including a deserved win away at Arsenal), 1 draw (away at in form Everton) and 1 loss (a match where WH were slightly the better team v high flying Newcastle).

It's not looking great but he deserves a preseason. West Ham want better brand of football and should give Potter (or someone else) time to implement it.
