A vague leak about GTA 6 has surfaced

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...-2-sequel-latest-actor-tim-neff-a7863391.html

sorry not sorry about Daily Star but it explains it better

It wouldn't surprise me if they did this as the very start of the rumour train we know they love.

Are we due it? Didn't they bring the last one out quite close the end of the console life? It would make sense, as I bet loads of people buy it twice then. We must be getting pretty close to the end of the PS4/Xbox One life?

I'd guess that at this coming out earlyish next year. Seems about the right time for things to start appearing soon.

Yeah, I put discussion about it in the random gaming chat thread as it wasn't officially announced and the GTA5 thread was only started after Rockstar announced it officially so didn't want to get people's hopes up. Neff is pretty adamant it isn't his resume. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they did start development on GTA6 but the announcement will be a few years away as I reckon they'll be wanting to focus on RDR2.

Hopefully they set it somewhere new, or make it multiple countries

Early next year?
 VeevaVee is on another planet. RDR2 is coming out next year so they're not going to have GTA6 overshadow it. GTA6 will probably be released in 2020. Still a lot of mileage for Rockstar/Take Two in GTA Online and RDR2 Online when that comes out.

I didn't know that :(

2019 it is.

Wouldn't surprise if the next one is a completely online experience considering the money they made from GTA:Online.

Which I still don't understand. Who the feck is buying Shark cards?

That wont ever happen, they have said its a uniquely American based game.
Yeah, I don't think the satire they like to go for would work in a non American setting.

Thread based on a questionable rumour with a title that made everyone think it's just been announced. Ffs VV you're evil.

I wouldn't mind it being set in Vice City again, it's been 15 years since Vice City came out but I would like to see a new city. Question is which city is interesting enough to do and is in America?

NYC has been done to death
Chicago is too similar
Las Vegas would be pretty bland beyond the casinos
San Francisco might be OK and just different enough from LA.
Texas might be good as a setting but I don't know if one Texas city is interesting enough to set a gta game in. Maybe a combination along with a Mexican border city might make for an interesting game.

London would be a great choice but if they want to keep it as a parody of American culture then I guess Miami or SF are the best two they could do.

With regards to the bolded part. I don't think they can do it can they as people are putting real money into the game to technically gamble so they'd need some sort of licence for that? I could be wrong though. There's a casino on GTA V but it's closed.

Why not? I could definitely see it happening.
I don't think they'll leave their comfort zone. They've been satirising American culture, very well, with Gangster Man for 20 years and made probably billions doing it.

A female protagonist would probably be rocking the boat too much for them.

They can't do London because British cities aren't built according to block grid structure. Rockstar themselves mentioned this is why a London one hasn't been done thus far. It's too difficult to implement.

I've got a terrible feeling they're gonna feck this up completely by making it all about the online multiplayer side of things and losing focus on the single player story which for me is all GTA is about.

Top down GTA doesn't count because city rendering isn't required.
I know, I was just being pedantic. :p

I'll be surprised if we get a sixth installment in 2020. GTA 5 is still in the top ten selling games in the UK on a weekly basis (I think it was at number two last week). That is phenomenal given when it was released.

Then we have RDR to come, hopefully next year. I would guess 2022.

:p I'm hyped about RDR . Hell, I'm still playing RDR1 on PS Now on the PS4. Read somewhere that they're interested in making a London story but that it would be a completely different game by Rockstar rather than a GTA one. I wouldn't expect GTA 6 before 2021-2022. I remember on here when the screenshots were released in 2011 for GTA 5 and people thought it was almost out. Ended up getting it two years later . They'll bleed GTA 5 dry before they bring the next cow to milk.

Multiple countries would work in my opinion, but it wouldn't be anywhere near as good. They play massively on the fact guns are so easily to get, and crime is so rife in America. Running round London with a chain gun wouldn't feel right.

I'd personally love it, but can't see it happening. They basically just take the piss out of America with GTA

I'd like to see a different location though, or multiple US cities. Maybe a wider area such as around Lake Michigan? So you get the cities of Chicago and Milwuakee possibly as far as Detroit and Indianapolis as well as the beautiful rurual surroundings and countless little towns? That'd be class.

Nah the Houser brothers consider themselves as story tellers. They'd go big on both.

I think this will be out sooner than people think. There's not a lot you can do to milk RDR online. Maybe horse armour or faster horses.
