Bought gta 5 today for 13 quid on the ps4. Good deal. Plus an extra mil a month till ps5 release. Kinda mad at the same time. Was on level 100 when I had the game at the start on ps4. My friends are all on xbox, so I traded in the ps4 version only after I bought the xbox they never came on for it once so I grinded it again. Now have everything. But now once again buying the ps4 version. Here we go again hah.

For me this really rams home the point that the online side of things has fecked the single player game.

They’re making so much money and maintaining such a high level of regular users on the existing platform they’re just not arsed about VI.

So annoying.

Agree with this entirely. They’re able to milk it dry and whilst it still makes money they’re not going to invest in a new one. Rubbish really.

GTA3, Vice City and SA from 2001-2004, what a time to be a teen, seeing the transition from 2d to 3d was amazing with gta3, then Vice City was pure sex! Then SA with it's massive map and your character developing the way he did, and to go back and conquer the hood! And then Bully in 2006 too! I was born in 1990 and it's a wonder how I ever got laid with those games!

I played IV and V and neither were as good, perhaps due to me getting older, the fact Rockstar haven't released a new GTA for 7 years is ridiculous - money trumps all though.

Also, I want a new Bully game! Can't believe they didnt do #2?

Didn’t they sack the main man for development of the game shortly after 5 was launched as he wanted single player DLC’s and they wanted money.
Dan Houser?

I don't think he was fired but him leaving may represent a difference in mentality when it comes to video games.

GTA V has way more content than the others, people will say "but I could explore GTA 3 for hours" yeah, but at the same time you can explore 5 for 10x as long, as there is much much more. Add in the online content and you're away with it.

People are thinking too nostalgic for stuff like this. Nothing wrong with a game lasting 8 years. I can flick it on every now and again and still enjoy it. Ive definitely had my money's worth, and I am not forced to buy any coins or whatever online either.

You gotta think, rdr2 has also been released in that time too.

I just double checked this myself it was Leslie benzies, a producer on all the major games up till gta 5, he left and then sued there owners
I forgot about that. It's quite sad to see these R* OG's leave. I fear the direction the series could head in without them. I think Sam Houser is still at R* but the shift to online micro-transaction heavy gaming seems apparent and I don't think that will change in GTA 6. While having new people and new ideas can be good, I think that they'll go for whoever will keep the money rolling in rather than an innovator.

Heist. Lots of it. Especially the casino one. Theres a good payday for that one on hard. Plus you can go into a private lobby yourself and do the setups missions by yourself so no one tries to blow you up. Take a bit of time but its worth it.

It’s not just that wouldn’t the game on ps5 be basically running on the same engine as it was on ps3, there was people giving out that there wouldn’t be a destiny 3 and not getting a new game engine on the new consoles instead we get DLC’s, but it’s at least something new and added content most of what rockstar has done with online is gimmicks

My jaw dropped and my dick got hard when I saw the Rockstar logo. Even when I heard Michael from the original GTA V trailer, I was still hyped to see where it was going. They really are taking the piss now.

Having this on another platform is not necessarily bad but it probably points to GTA6 being years away. I won't even be surprised if there's no new GTA game on PS5 either. They've not done a new GTA for the whole generation of Xbox One/PS4 which is really disappointing for me.. Though I know many on here like it.

I think they will wait for 10-year anniversary of GTA5 in 2013, will make a new enhanced edition then (probably release it across all platforms including new Nintendo platform), and try to release 6 between 2024 and 2025.

There will be another GTA game on PS5. So stop with the ludicrous comments. I want a permanent ban @Damien if that doesn’t happen, care to wager @Sarni

Lots of insiders have said it is in development. Jason Schrier said it’s years away just last month. The story is apparently done. They have probably the biggest gaming development studio in gaming currently. All their studios combined worked on red dead. I doubt they all sat there working on GTA online. Pretty sure theres only a small amount of people who work on GTA online. So I doubt the other thousands of people are twiddling their thumbs doing nothing. For context they have 2000 plus employees and 9 studios.

Online isn’t the only way Rockstar make their money. GTA online has been in the charts practically since it has some out. Everyone who buys a new console it’s the first thing they buy. The sales numbers are incredible.

People were making the same assumptions with RDR 2. Rockstar don’t care about single player or whatever. Yet they made their longest single player game ever. Also funny how people praising Leslie. The houser brothers gave no shit about online. All they cared about was single player and they saw themselves as story tellers. Leslie pushed online and was the mastermind behind GTA online. Hence why he sued rockstar because he believed they owned him more money. So things would be the same if Leslie was still there. The law suit basically started because Leslie put his name last on the GTA online opening credits. Sam Houser saw it after the game was released, so that’s how much he cared that he didn’t even try the online prerelease.

What these micro transactions have done is allow Rockstar to take their time with releases. There’s no rush and they can put more detail in their games. I’m the first one who would wish they would hurry the feck up. But development has changed over the last decade unless you cod or Fifa. Comparing it to the PS2 era is silly. Games had less detail and were faster to develop back then. Just look at how long it’s going to take them to complete FF7 remake. Fifa and COD it’s the same reskin year after year. Me personally, I would rather they stop making Fifa a yearly release. So maybe then the developers have more time to make a better game. Atleast with COD they have different studios working on each title.

It’s the same with Elder Scrolls. The online part of that is popular and the main game won’t be here for some time. Maybe towards the end of PS5 as they working on Starfield right now. Hopefully a new game engine too.

All these big companies care about is micro transactions. If you are buying them then you are enabling them.

Depends on your perspective. There are plenty of people who mainly enjoy the single player modes and don't care for the online stuff. For them, it's definitely a franchise that's stood still.

It's pretty obvious why there's no new game

I'll give you a hint

Obviously GTA5 being a huge cash cow is the main reason for the port but I wonder if it’s also being used as a safe way for the devs to become familiar with developing for the PS5 and to learn a few patterns and methods which can then be utilised for GTA6? That way they have a bit of a test run with the technology without needed to put any funds into game design and as a bonus it will likely make a load of money along the way.

Can't see it unless the online for the next Nintendo platform significantly improves.

Yeah I agree, can't see Nintendo ever carrying the franchise to be honest.

I have to say I've been hammering this game with a few mates during lockdown, I must have done each heist 5 or 6 times at least.

I've always been in awe of the scale of the games which Rockstar create and the depth of this latest version is staggering.

I'm surprised that the same game is about to make a transition on to its third console but as already been mentioned, while people are paying for it they will care little.

They have promised to expand the game for PS5 and I wonder if the building sites will fully form in to big estates, almost mini cities.

Personally I'd rather see them put a tunnel somewhere which brings you out in a new city, albeit it won't be anywhere near as big as LS.

Loaded this up on the PC to play since you were able to download a free copy through the Epic Store. Haven't played since early PS4 days and bloody hell, the online loading speeds are still absolutely dreadful.

I spend more time waiting than I do playing half the time (My internet speed is fine as I have no lag during gameplay).

I've completed TW3 and it's expansions and AC Odyssey in the meantime but have yet to make it past the first few hours in GTA V. Looks like I'll have a few more years anyway bc Rockstar continues to treat it as if it were some recent release.

Add Lazlow to departures.

Lazlow Jones, best known for his radio shows in the Grand Theft Auto Series has left Rockstar Games after almost 20 years with the company.

Lazlow Jones was also a Writer and Producer for Rockstar Games, yes he did a whole lot more than just talk on Radio Shows in Grand Theft Auto. He first joined the company in April 2001 and made his first Radio appearance in Grand Theft Auto: III, in Grand Theft Auto V, Lazlow made an appearance as a character as the host of Fame Or Shame.

His departure from the company has been due to personal reasons with Family Members becoming seriously ill he announced on Instagram, with the Pandemic making things even more difficult, this meant Lazlow left Rockstar Games in April 2020. (Also announced on Linkedin)

I thought you stopped playing because some 8 year old kept griefing you and made you cry.
What are you going on about now? It wasn't some 8 year old. It was some 40-year-old loner, who kept turning my character into random stuff and kept killing me. Then to top it all off started t-bagging me. He then froze my game, so I had to restart the game and I somehow still got matched up to him. So that was the end of my chapter on GTA online on PC. Only consoles from now on, sorry @Paxi.
