Way too ambitious I'm afraid. This is a remaster rather than remake so will be the same graphic models but with better lighting and some modern gameplay fixes. Nothing like GTA5.
Thanks. I did think so.

Guessing they’d have to remake the whole game(s) from scratch to make them HD like GTA V / RDR 2.

Hopefully it does make them more playable in the modern day though. Feels very strange playing the PS2 version and remembering that those graphics once blew me away

Higher texture detail, lighting and higher resolution at 60fps will definitely make them more playable but can't see them looking like anything too special with PS2 level animations. Guess we'll see when the trailer hits.

According to the leaks the PC launcher had all three titles showing as Unreal, which confirms the previous leaks that the game at least has been ported to the Unreal engine. I think it's a little more than better lighting and gameplay fixes. Maybe not quite GTA 5, but somewhere in-between the classic art style and the modern one.

The decoded text also includes references to “Unreal”, which suggests that all three games have been remastered with Unreal Engine. This is definitely new for the series as these GTA games were originally developed with middleware engine Renderware, while later instalments from GTA 4 onwards have used Rockstar’s proprietary RAGE engine.

Yeah, hopefully they surprise us with something and I'd definitely buy if it is better than current PC builds. On PC, modders ported GTA3 to the GTA V engine and they were shutdown about a year ago, so maybe there is more to it?

Will they incorporate the new controls?

I tried to play Vice City again a few years ago and the right analogue stick flicking to first person view was weird as feck and I couldn’t play it, but would love to revisit that game with modern mechanics.

My only worry is the god awful controls still the same or did they actually change things. Barely understand what the remaster is. Was hoping for a full on Remake.

Well they state there's going to be quote 'modern gameplay enhancements for all three titles' so hopefully that means they'll sort it out.

Ok that gives me a bit of hope. Don't care about GTA 3 but excited to play Vice City and San Andreas again.

Still a lot of work , that should be spent on VI
VI

In fairness, they might already have been working on VI for a while now. I don't have any proof for that whatsoever, however, I do know that almost immediately after the release of GTA V on the PS3 they were quickly working on RDR2 as far back as 2013/2014.

Yes, I do think that they're milking GTA Online for all its worth, but the next game is probably going to be significantly bigger than GTA 5 in scope, bringing Vice City, Liberty City and Los Santos cities/maps into one game, which is very ambitious, but very time-consuming and requires almost every studio to be involved. Again this is just from credible leaks, but if they're true, then that partly explains the extended time frame between V and VI.

If that's true, and the world detail is similar as V, with the 4k textures this can easily amount to a 300GB game.

I’d scrap all the others if it meant vice city done with current graphics. That would be incredible.

Still, even though I’ve not been a massive GTA fan since vice city, quite intriguing and exciting to see what comes out.

Couldn't be bothered playing this. Maybe if it's on a great discount in 3 years time. I really enjoyed San Andreas and Vice City at the time but the gameplay of Rockstar games is so basic that I've sorted outgrown them.

I mean it’s cool but I’m not that excited for this. I guess it depends on the level of the remake/remaster, if it’s really well updated then I’d pick them up and enjoy them but otherwise I just can’t see the point.

I feel like it’ll be a bit dull once you get over the initial buzz of it. There’s 4K mods of vice city on YouTube which look amazing, but after 10 minutes it wears off.

A cheap cash in, looks like its coming out on mobile too so the upgrades are going to be minimal.

I really hope they do a good job with this and it isn't half-arsed. I loved these games growing up, but they have NOT aged well at all. The controls and gameplay need a massive overhaul more than the graphics.

What's the point of wanting to buy this if you've already played it? I don't see the appeal

GTA 3 at the time of its original release was genuinely awesome, as the top down view of 1 and 2 was gone and they were now in a 3D environment and you had one massive map of three areas, instead of 3 separate areas you couldn’t go into without leaving that specific game.

Vice City kicked up the graphics and put licensed music in for the first time and enlisted Hollywood names into the cast. The game feels very small though outside of the story missions. Once you’ve completed the story, there was no strong desire to keep playing really.

San Andreas thing was having a fecking HUGE map and it was much better than Vice City. One thing I’m glad it removed from the previous game was removing the final mission condition of needing X amount of money to unlock it (resulting in boring grinding). They replaced it from memory of needing a majority percentage of gangland turf to unlock the final missions. I fecking hated that part of the game as rival gangs could invade your turf and take it back from you, and you could be on the other side of this HUGE map and never get there in time.

So out of all them I might want to check out again, it’ll probably be San Andreas. I’ve played GTA 3 so many times at this point that it wouldn’t interest me that much despite it being a very good game. Vice City is only good for a short time and then you get bored quickly.

Noice, Vice City is one of my all time favourites. If it's done as well as the Tony Hawks remaster, it's should be quite really good.

They've lost half the radio stations to these games due to licensing which is a big shame.

Well, for me personally, I haven't played these games in years. And if they dramatically improve the gameplay, it would be cool to dive back into these worlds.
