Blind plays LB and doesn't turn slowly. His top speed is slow. ETH's starting CBs are 2 fast, mobile midgets.

Blind's also brilliant in the buildup and a great passer of the ball.

Maguire's always been a bit of an idiot on the ball, ever since we signed him. (hadn't watched him prior).

Well that just proves my point. He works in a very straight forward setup. The passing required for him under Ole was always straight forward.
Stats also really dont show the whole picture with specifically Maguire. His passing completion percentage is quite good, the issue is the passes are often either way to soft, hard or misplaced which puts his teammates under a ton of unnecessary pressure.
A good example is the 4th goal Liverpool got. His pass to Majbri was woeful, but it was technically successful.
so lets ignore the stats in favour of prevailing fan sentiment, and lets give examples from the last few months playing in the worst united team of last 30 years

I am not ignoring stats. I am trying to explain how some stats deceive at times.
Its the same team though as under Ole pretty much. But Ole only worked when playing a defensive system with straight forward counter attack.
Ole tried at the start of this season to implement more progressive play, and our players simply where not fit for that.
Ralf tried the same and the result was the same.
ETH system is extremely different from the systems we have seen Maguire be good at.

What I’d like

De Gea

Laird (I think he could be a big winner in pre-season)
Varane
Torres or Bastoni
Shaw

Tchouameni
Tielemans

Antony
Bruno
Sancho

Nkunku
Tielemans makes some sense to me. Not so different than Lasse Schone who did well for Ten Hag in a double pivot, and he could also play in a 4-3-3 you'd think.

Yes, because, unlike Maguire, he is good on the ball, and he can actually turn much quicker.
And despite that, in the last 2 seasons, he's been phased out of that role. Not only does Timber and Martinez plays there, ETH rather rotate Schuurs in then Tagliafico.

Maguire isn't quick off the mark, his top speed isn't that bad (although nowhere near elite)

De Gea
Dest, Varane, Pau Torres, Shaw
Bissouma, Fred
VDB
Antony, Nkunku, Sancho

Timber on the bench
Gravenbech has been rumoured as well, wouldn't be shocked if ETH wanted to sign him to basically replace Pogba

All the signings above are fairly reasonable, shouldn't be too expensive for each of them either.

3-4 signings will be the max we will be getting and everybody knows it, and it’s pretty much been confirmed.

Nunez, I think is the preferred striker option, Phillips is the preferred midfield target and Torres is the preferred defensive target.

I think those are the only realistic targets we can achieve in the summer and possibly a new right back, depending on sales of the likes of AWB or Dalot.

Certainly nothing to get excited about, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, considering the over hyped players who joined us in the past.

De Gea

Timber…Varane… Torres… Shaw

Fred…Phillips… Fernandes

Sancho… Nunez… Rashford

As title says, make a guess for the lineup of our first game in the league next season.

De Gea
AWB - Varane - Lindelof - Shaw
Fred- Phillips- Bruno
Rashford- Cristiano - Sancho
Going to be realistic on this one:

De Gea
AWB - Varane - Lindelof - Shaw
Fred- Phillips- Bruno
Rashford- Cristiano - Sancho

If it even vaguely resembles the shower of shit squad we have now then we're screwed.

Now, I have no idea what incoming players we may pull off and replace someone there, but that midfield and front three have the individual capability to move the ball. That back line has the individual capability to stop it and get things going again. The most important thing will be a solid few weeks of preseason for ETH to school them on expectations and fitness.

Unlike many, I don't think we're that far off - if we're not top four next year, I will be disappointed.
