As title says, make a guess for the lineup of our first game in the league next season.

De Gea
Di Lorenzo - Varane - Maguire - Theo Hernandez
VDB - Tchouameni- Bruno
Berardi - Cristiano - Sancho

If we change that much and still have fecking Maguire in there, I'll have a stroke.

I like threads like this, albeit I think the OP’s team is slightly unrealistic as we’re not linked to the majority of the new players in that team. Anyway, Ralf says we need 10 signings, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. We do definitely need more than our usual three though, which is possible if we spend smart rather than big.

I’d like to see, and think it could be close to:

DDG
Lamptey Timber Varane Shaw
Phillips
Bruno Fred/Donny
Antony Ronaldo/Nunez Sancho

Bench: Henderson, Dalot, Maguire, Telles, McTominay, Fred/Donny, Rashford, Martial, Ronaldo/Nunez

Just 5 signings, not asking for too much hopefully.

We will have two new players on the bench but will ease them into the squad slowly.

This is probably the most realistic answer thus far. A bit underwhelming but let’s hope ten Hag can raise the standard of some of these players.

An impossible task but I can very much get behind predicting who from the current squad will be in the starting lineup:

* Ronaldo
* De Gea
* Bruno
* Sancho
* Varane
* Lindelof (I can foresee a Blind-like role)

Is OP's team an elaborate troll?

I can't see that first team being the revolution that many will want though. Something like this could maybe happen?

De Gea
Dalot Varane Maguire Shaw
Kamara
Fred Fernandes
Sancho Ronaldo Nkunku
With 1-2 more new players on the bench.

i legitimately have no idea what it will be. Will be very disappointed if yet another manager comes in here and tries to do mcfred in midfield and wonders why the results suck yet again. Dont have much faith in this club to be ruthless with players but am optimistically hopeful

I would love to know who Rangnick has recommended regardless of the ten Hag system. I would imagine Jude Bellingham is one.

Even if he were obtainable, I don’t think we’ll buy a big fee player. I think we’ll go after some players on ten Hag’s Ajax wants list.

I think we may see lindelof at right back, aside from the centre back role ten hag has also been using blind in the left back slot and we are far from blessed in the right back position and lindelof may be a stop gap as he is better defensively than our current options and he is better on the ball than the current two main options we have, he just lacks pace but hey we played brown, neville, heinze and o'shea as full backs and none of them were blessed with notable pace

Difficult to guess some of the transfers. I feel like we should be looking for at least a rb but I haven't heard us linked with any yet. With Barca clearly trying to sign Mazraoui (even if he likely is going to Bayern) it seems like Dest could be an option. Hasn't done very well at Barca but I could see us giving him a chance, particularly since he was given his debut by and has regularly played under ETH, and would understand what he expects from the role. Similarly I think we need a winger. I have seen links with Nkunku who I think is brilliant but I don't know what we see his best position in the team being. He's best in a narrow 3 like Chelsea play imo but I could easily see him playing the way Mane does for Liverpool where he can adapt to any of the front 3 positions. I wouldn't want us keeping him too wide because it takes away a lot of his goal threat. Going based off early rumours and a bit of guessing:

De Gea

Dest Lindelof Varane Shaw

Tchouaméni VDB
Bruno

Nkunku Ronaldo Sancho

EDIT: If there's one other change I could see, it's either Pau Torres or Timber in for Lindelof.

In: Noussair Mazraoui, Pau Torres, Kalvin Phillips, Boubacar Kamara, Antony, Darwin Nunez

Out: Lee Grant, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani

----------------------- De Gea (C)

----------------- Varane ---- Torres
--- Dalot ------------------------------------- Shaw
----------------- Phillips
-------------- Bruno ---------- Van de Beek

---- Antony ---- Ronaldo ------ Sancho

Subs: Henderson, Mazraoui, Telles, Williams, Maguire, Lindelof, Kamara, McTominay, Fred, Elanga, Rashford, Martial, Nunez

Talents on loan: Kovar, Laird, Mengi, Garner, Hannibal, Pellistri, Garnacho, Diallo, Shoretire

Shortlist: Robert Sanchez, Tariq Lamptey, Luke Thomas, Perr Schuurs, Jurrien Timber, Yves Bissouma, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Ryan Gravenberch, Christopher Nkunku, Domenico Berardi, Jonathan David

I don't see anyone making an acceptable offer for Maguire, so he stays. I think he will improve somewhat next season anyway. So many players are leaving this summer, I don't see how we can bring in any less than 5-6 decent players?

Honestly, predicting who will sign at this stage is really difficult, so I'll take Ted Lasso's (the Caf user!) approach and list the players we currently have who I think will probably start the first match of next season in some capacity:

*De Gea
*Varane
*Maguire
*Shaw
*Fred
*Fernandes
*Sancho
*Ronaldo

I'd imagine there might also be one more name on that list. Between Rashford or Elanga if I had to hazard a guess. I could also feasibly see Lindelof at right-back. I should also note that I have assumed, for the sake of simplicity, that everyone will be fit.

(Obviously this is also quite heavily dependent on who our opponents are.)

Sancho Nunez/Nkunku Rashford

think it will be a lot less busy than many hope. Hell of a lot of players leaving. Think lots of youth players will join the squad - bernard garner levitt and mengi have had decent loans. Diallo and Pellestri probably be backup wingers. Donny will be like a new signing.

We’ll be making do for a while i think we will focus on the spine of the team first rather than wingbacks etc.

i think/hope the likes of Rashford, Shaw, Bruno and Maguire will return to form.

I’m hoping Maguire gets replaced as a must and I can see 2 CM’s coming in and a RB and a new #9 as I can’t see Ronnie staying here next season.
