I don't find Mbappe to be that aesthetically pleasing. Henry was almost in a different stratosphere compared to most players in that era. I don't think Mbappe is quite that separated from his peers in that department.

Haaland needs to pick his next club carefully. I'd hate for him to stagnate because he ended up with the wrong coach at the wrong club.

This goes for Mbappe too. His must choose a top club in a more competitive league. Nobody outside of France cares what he does in Ligue 1 or any domestic competition in France. The fact that he plays for a "plastic oilmoney" club with 2,5 to 20 x the financial muscles of any of the competitors makes it very hard to give him credit for anything he does in domestic competitions. As long as he plays there his legacy will be NT and CL merits.

The part about Mbappes being more aesthetically pleasing to watch is also a bit laughable. He does have some tricks up his sleeves for sure, but he also has one of the most ackward looking runningstyles I've ever seen. It works for him though...

The Ruud / Henry comparison is a good one. Haaland is no doubt has the potential to go down as a great goalscorer.

Mbappe will win multiple ballon d'ors IMO. There doesn't really seem to be much contest for the best player in the world slot after Ronaldo and Messi retire. If Mbappe wants it, he could dominate for the next decade...... Maybe he needs some competition to keep him motivated?

Both incredibly gifted footballers. However, I think when all is said and done, Mbappe will be the player who goes down in history but I agree on another's point about it being affected by his next destination(s). Haaland is an amazing footballer, and could definitely end up in the top 20 strikers of all time if he keeps going as he is, but I feel Mbappe will snap up a few Balon D'or before he retires.

Haaland is a better CF. Mbappe is more like Henry, a striker who comes off the left channel. Depends what you want for your team. Both are very fast. Yesterday, Barcelona made Mbappe look like a million bucks with the amount of space they gave him. He doesn't get that much space in Ligue 1 and has been pretty poor this season tbh. If you want a better goalscorer you get Haaland, he is simply a better finisher. If you want a more flexible player that can play on the wings you get Mbappe.

Haaland for me. I don't see how MBappe compares to Henry for those that are comparing. Henry's game all around was much more mature.

Creating such threads after MBappe just scored a hattrick, what did you expect the vote to be in favour of?

Who will be the better player? Haaland. He's developing properly with an all round skillset, and he seems to know the best steps to take for his career. Mbappe has more talent but he has stalled since 18 and is wasting a critical stage in his development in a league that doesn't challenge him. He's got time to get back on track but he's 22 and really needs to move in the next year or two.

Who will win the Ballon D'Or first? The French player, playing for the French media darlings in the French league? I wonder.

Mbappe is more likely to win it. I would rather Haaland at United.

Wouldn't say no to either though!

Mbappe is spectacular, but I feel like Haaland is a different type of animal. His production is already insane.

How is he stalling when he's arguably the best player in the world.

Compare his big game goalscoring record against the actual best players in the world, Ronaldo and Messi. Other than at Barcelona last night he's been fairly lacklustre. Haaland has less to go off and is in a far less stacked team but so far he's got 16 goals in 10 games in the Champions League, including 3 in 3 against PSG and Liverpool, the sort of ratio those other two have been doing for about 10 years.

Outside the stats, just watch him. He needs to tighten his touch up and work on what to do when he can't simply run past somebody.

So far in his career he's scored many goals against the big clubs. Against Madrid, City, Juve, us, Argentina, Dortmund, Barca etc. Last season was the season he was not bagging goals in big games but that seems to have come to an end. Him and Neymar were really inept in front of goal.

He played against Messi last night and was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. His pace and power undid Barca while Messi's skill and ability was relatively easily dealt with by PSG.

Messi has been pointless in a lot of the recent big games. All these embarrassing games has happened with him on the pitch not up to much. Cristiano has a better argument for being around the top than him.

Halaand handles his business no arguments there. Halaand, Cristiano, Mbappe, Neymar and Lewa are in the conversation.

Yesterday Mbappe was amazing so the hype is slightly on his side now, but overall I think Haaland is more incredible.

Time will tell but I think Haaland will turm out to be the better one of the two
Hard to say better but yeah I think Haaland is more impressive. Or more appropriately I'd have Haaland over Mbappe here.

Hard to tell, but I think Haaland. Hes playing in a better and more more competetive league where Bayern are favorites every year. Currently the topscorer in CL and 3rd in Bundesliga. While theyre both extremely explosive and quick, Mbabbe has a bit more finesse to his game while Haaland has just that killer instinct, power and brutal force that only a player like Zlatan could match in his prime.

I think regardless of who you pick, you're not going to be worse off. They're both great, but I definitely think Mbappe will be the better of the two because he's got as good movement, his finishing is top notch, and he is capable of breaking down teams without outside creativity and provide for others or finish himself much more consistently than Haaland, who is a finisher more than anything right now and I feel more dependent on the team around him than Mbappe. I'd put it this way, there's nothing I feel Haaland can do right now that Mbappe isn't capable of himself, but not the other way around. However, if Haaland can use his physical gifts a bit more, improve his heading ability, then he'll be able to be a presence in set pieces and as a target man that Mbappe just wouldn't be able to do. Haaland is the better striker, Mbappe isn't a striker. He's capable of it, but it'd be wasting his other abilities to take the wing from him IMO. He should just have a free role, Haaland is gonna be a striker forever, he's born for it.

Reality is, because of the acrimonious Brexit and how the aftermath is shaping so tense, almost nobody in the continent is going to care much about the EPL in a very few years. Drifting out also means losing appeal. Mbappe does not give a iota about how others see him: he is at home, in the most comfy environment, a national hero already.

Mbappe and PSG as a whole have been actually pretty poor until yesterday. Mbappe still gets his numbers, but not as devastating as he has been prior to his injury last season. He looks back to 100% now, but last night was not a proper reflection of his season so far.

Saka and Martinelli better than them all :D

Seriously I think Haalands a great goalscorer and leads the line well but Mbappe's just immense at everything.

Exactly, Haaland has himself to blame for this, he se the international stage alight at such a young age. He should be compared to the likes of Greenwood, not Mbappe.
 fecksaken now we have to compare footballers only if they are of the exact same age. Do you realise that Ronaldo is older than Messi?

Fair enough, I thought it's 3 years between them. Anyway, the age gap will make less of a difference as the time goes by, at 19-20, 2 years is still a large gap I think (in terms of development).
Just remember that development is not linear. Zidane and Xavi ended up much better than many footballers who they were inferior to at 17-21.

Can't decide if I would rather see these two go head to head in a potential quarter final or see if they are capable of getting the better of that rock solid City defence which hasn't been properly tested since losing at Spurs

I would like Haaland over Mbappe just because he's so ruthless with his finishing and I do think we need the one who is the better goalscorer. Think they're both very good for their age but have different strengths and for who has more chance of winning a ballon d'or first it could be Mbappe if they manage to win CL this year, as I think that's more likely than dortmund winning it.

Mbappé is the better player, the bigger talent, and more of what we need because he's both an elite scorer and an elite creator

Not that it matters 'cause we're getting both anyways  :D

I see a lot of comparisons here. Ruud vs Henry, Shearer vs Henry, Messi vs Ronaldo etc.

Haaland and Mbappe has a lot more end product than all these guys at the same age and let's hope they are both still far from peaking. Haaland has scored a goal every 90 minutes and contributed to a goal every 72 minutes so far in his senior football career, while Mbappe has scored a goal every 109 minutes and contributed to a goal every 70 minutes of his career so far. These are absolutely insane numbers and there is no doubt in my mind these are extraordinary talents. My point is that these two phenomenons pretty much dwarf all these (and others) legends' early career numbers:

- Henry scored 28 goals in 139 games for Monaco before he left for Juve at 21. He scored 12 in his last 62 games for Monaco....
- Shearer had 9 senior goals to his name when he left Southampton for Blackburn at 22.
- Messi had 42 goals in 110 games for Barca when he turned 21.
- Ruud left Heerenveen at 22 with 14 goals in 36 senior games
- CR7 had 32 goals in 168 games after the season he had turned 21

I really look forward to see this battle unfold the next decade, because it might be better than anything we have seen before.
They surely have the potential to break every records in future, if they maintain that kind of scoring form in next 12-15 years or so.

But let’s not forget there are some most outstanding young forward with similar or even better record at the beginning, didn’t turn out as good as expected in the end, for various reason:

L.Ronaldo stats at 22:
208 goals in 244 games

L.Ronaldo career stats:
414 goals in 626 games.

Owen stats at 22:
130 goals in 249 games

Owen career stats:
262 goals in 571 games

The most elites record up to date is around 760+ career goals, they already have 114 goals (Haaland) and 158 goals (Mbappe) so far. If they want to reach 750+ goals, they will need to score another 600-650 goals. Thats equal to around 40-50 goals per year in next 12-15 years. That’s is by far the hardest. But if they have this insane level of consistency and longevity, who knows they may just go on and break every records out there.

think it will come down to there next moves will play a massive part in who ends up the better, Mbappe is overall the better player but Haaland will score more goals, hopefully both end up in the premiership and not in Spain

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Has Mbappe been significantly better than Neymar this year?
There were a few French posters about a month ago saying they find it strange how people outside of France seem to think Mbappe's been better than Neymar, when in reality anyone who watches them regularly knows Neymar is significantly better and more important. I don't know how the two of them have done since then, but I do get the feeling that the media loving Mbappe and quite disliking Neymar tends to give a fairly false narrative in that comparison for those of us who don't watch much.

considering its going to be the only league with money am sure these players will still care, Barca and Madrid skint while both needing major rebuilds, Aint much money in italy or france apart from PSG and the same with Bayern in Germany, Brexit wont affect any top player anyway. might stop more average forign players coming in as well
