Coming together nicely for your lads. My issue with Lampard has always been his inability to set teams up defensively (particularly set pieces) but, to his credit, he's fixing that - although massively aided by one of the best CBs of his era, Thiago Silva, and an actual functioning goalkeeper.

Havertz seemed a bit square-peg-round-hole in the wing but now Pulisic is (was) coming back to fitness, hopefully he'll continue centrally where he's best suited. Werner scoring too, Ziyech doing the business... worrying from a Utd perspective.
Also worth mentioning Anthony Barry, who was added to the coaching staff this year and is by all accounts a brilliant defensive coach.

I was expecting Frank to give his pal JT a call when he got the job but I guess JT has eyes on the top job somewhere - maybe even as Villa's Smith replacement, as and when.

I'm pleased to see all the new signings settling in well, contributing in many different ways. I had thought, having brought in so players at once, that one or two were bound to have an underwhelming impact, but so far each one has been really - Havertz is probably the only one you could argue but he's gotten better with each game.

Ziyech is one of those edge of your seat players. Wonderful to watch.
His passing is fantastic

Trust me it's up there with De Bruyne. /watch?v=8HKBMVgsSbo He's a specialist like what this guy was.

Giving away a free kick or corner is like conceding a penalty. Exceptional crossers. Why I wanted United to buy him.

He was the player i was looking forward to the most out of all of them.
Us chelsea fans saw first hand last season his awesome delivery in to the box from the right hand side against us.
Even in the pre season friendly vs Brighton he played the signature ball in for the goal.
Will be a huge help against bus parkers.
Hes doing exactly what i wanted. That inswinger off the right hand side is such a great weapon to have. He was linking up really well with reece James (who is playing really well atm)
No suprise hes settled straight away hes in his prime right now. Hope he keeps it up.

Some slight hyperbole there.

We'll see. You're not very good at reading body language. Free kicks look easy in his body language. Putting in a good ball is not hard for him.

We'll see what? That "a free kick or corner is like a penalty"? That's mental.

And you're not very good at posting links.
How long have you been watching football for? Do we have a teenager? Am I talking to a teen? /watch?v=S26n2wvsuC0 People who have been watching football long enough know what I mean.

Whenever you give away a free kick you are in danger of conceding because the crosses are that good... that accurate.

Do I really have to put it in plain English because your IQ is so low? It's an exaggeration, you fkin retard. You total fkin moron..

I don't come online to argue with today's dumbed down generation. Don't take everything literally, it just make you look stupid.

How is a guy throwing a ball relevant to anything?

I think that also might have created a potentially awkward dynamic given Lampard would be boss but JT had always been captain? I might be overthinking it but I feel like that'd be a situation with an unclear power hierarchy which could be detrimental.

Him one side and Pulisic the other is going to be hugely exciting for Chelsea fans. I get the love for Mount but these two are next level.

After mediocre start slowly coming together for Chelsea now at both ends.
Theres room for all of them with the way we currently play
we have kante sitting
then havertz and mount as two 8s
ziyech puli as widemen
werner up top
Whoever is lw needs to be attacking the back post like chilwell did yesterday
they will get a fair few goals like that.

I don't think anybody has a better left foot in the Premier League (crosses and spot-kicks) at this point in time. Bale is past it now.
Or am I missing someone?

Such class, easily top 10, arguably top 5 player in the league. Techncally brilliant, intelligent, always looking to hurt the opponent with smart runs and wide playmaking.

Would be more than sufficient alternative to Sancho as the solution to our long-lasting RW problem. VdB sadly doesn't seem to be close to Ziyech's quality, and cost more...

There's a few cracking left pegs around. Bale, Hamez, Cresswell and Telles
Bale and Hames were probably better, but they're no longer in the prime of their gaming careers. I don't think the other two are better than Hakim.

But of course, it is too early to call.

Ziyech has started well but the sample size is too small. Let's give him a bit more time before saying how good he is in regard to the rest of the players in the league. Obviously, he is pulling up trees at the moment so you claim could be right.

Yeah good points tbf. Plus, like I said, I imagine JT has his eyes on a managerial job somewhere (maybe following Dean Smith at Villa) so seems pointless going from Villa assistant to Chelsea coach.

Well, Ziyech was the Dutch player of the year in past 3 consecutive years, surely its not exactly a a big surprise he performs better than other Dutch player here (ie VDB).

Both Pulisic and this lad would have been starters here.... Our scouting system needs a kick up the hole.

This one was blatantly obvious for years and was always crazy that nobody was going for him. feck knows why. Basically Bruno Fernandes level of production but from the right wing. Will be a much better signing for them than Havertz.

Almost sounded like you're quoting Roma from Glengarry Glenn Ross there, but I guess somebody had just pissed in your chips. Pity.

Yeah, you can do the same for most squads. I think our squad has a lot of good youngsters as well, our first choice defence could have an average age of just over 23 next season for instance.
I do not know. Chelsea look more balanced for me. Of their signings this Summer you can say that they have had hits with all bar Harvetz, but even with Harvetz he looks like someone acclimatsing to the league and not a busted flush. I reckon he will start playing like he was at Bayen within 6-12 months if he is played in a No.8 role and improves his physicality/shielding of the ball (not a particularly difficult thing to do if dedicated.)

After that, it is almost certain they get Rice. If they do that, they just need a CB as outlined and probably a CF. My concern here is that with such a squad with so many young players, they become very attractive to Haaland, especially as he seems motivated by trophies/achievements and not money. If you put Haaland and Rice into that team and they can find a decent CB between the age of 22-27 they will have both depth, amazing quality and a low ish average age.

I mean, look at this as a potential 2022/23 first XI if they sign those two:

Mendy (30)
James (22) Zouma (27) New CB (22-27) Chilwell (25)
Mount (23) Rice (24) Harvetz (23)
Ziyech (29) Haaland (22) Pulisic (23)

Average age: 24.8 years (based on the new CB being 26)

Average age of outfield players: 24.3

I honestly, do not see anyone else with that sort of age demographic and quality combined. Further, their bench would also still be relatively young with some very good players/young players with high celings.
