Yes.... but, I have to admit, I was always against buying him. So, my bias plays a role in that opinion.
Genuinely curious as to why you feel this way.

what dont you like about him in particular? Id say he isnt as pacy as I thought he was but still looks good technically.
Yeah he's not one to break away once put through; he's more likely to drop deep and play the pass through in the first place. He does have a very good burst of pace though when starting from zero - this is a big part of what makes him great at taking on defenders 1v1. Frankly for me that's encouraging - I'd be more skeptical of a player who excelled physically in a poorer league against poorer competition. Don't think that applies to Ziyech; he's certainly not made a living at Ajax by overpowering the opposition.

Haven't matched him much to be honest but I remember him dominating Real in the CL last year. Class performance.

I think this guy will flop at Chelsea. Struck me as a temperamental player and a bit of a show pony. Might get bullied physically in the PL. We'll see how he handles it.

  1. I am still suffering from that Kezman shock.
  2. He has had attitude issues in the past
  3. His style of play requires a lot of movement and running - I am not sure whether he will be able to keep that up for an entire season
  4. The dutch league is not what it used to be. Also, I find it very difficult for any player to transfer from the Eredivisie to PL. The gap is huge.
  5. I have a few doubts about his goalscoring ability in the PL
  6. In my opinion, he was only hyped because of his great CL season. I do not find that it's a good recruitment strategy, because one great season can be just an outlier

Watch what he did against us in the 4 4
1 goal 2 assists
His delivery is immense
Iirc he set up the ajax disallowed goal in the away game.

1. That was 16 years ago - subsequently we've gotten Robben from there, Matic had a great season there, Mount did, etc.
2. What attitude issues? Are you referring to the fact that he was rightfully annoyed that the number 10 was taken from him on the back of winning PotY? He certainly didn't let this affect him as he went on to win PotY for the next two years afterwards.
3. On what basis? The most games he's ever missed due to injury consecutively is 4. He has always excelled in the CL against the best opposition.
4. Bizarre considering Suarez moved from Ajax to Liverpool and we've seen lesser players move away from that same Ajax team to top European clubs and not look out of place.
5. Don't even know what this means - he's certainly a bigger goal threat than Willian who he'd be replacing. Don't think this is even debatable.
6. Ridiculous. He's literally the only player in the history of Ajax to win their PotY award 3 times running. He's been a top player for years now even if you haven't been paying attention.

Never follow his football, but sound like a wonderful player to me. Dominates Dutch league for 3 years, and shines in CL last season. Also has very good numbers, and his passing seems good too, looks like potentialy another Bruno type of signing to me. But lets see if he can keep up the pace in Premierleague, we never know.

I like the way he plays; his energy, creativity, and forceful to make things happen. Hopefully he flops at Chelsea, though.

He's been training with the first team for a few weeks now and apparently everyone is really impressed with him.
Do you have a source? Just wondering as Im really curious and interested in how he will do at Chelsea..

Cant wait to have him play and finally whip a good delivery in from set pieces.

Will he actually start first choice next season, could be eased in I think?

Maybe depends on if Willian stays or not, we'll have maybe Willian + CHO, Pulisic, Ziyech as specialist wingers for two positions. CHO needs a lot of minutes next year to have a chance to develop.

Plus we need to find minutes for RLC (could be used as a winger as well depending on tactics) , Barkley, given Midfield starters will likely be Kante, Mount and Havertz and we also have Kovacic and Jorginho to fit in somewhere.

He's actually quite similar to Bruno Fernandes

The latter had no problem adapting to england, so we'll see

Hudson-Odoi wasn't even trusted over the departing Pedro yesterday. I don't think Lampard rates him much.

Ziyech will definitely start the season for you lot at right wing. Pulisic, if fit, on the left. Havertz in the hole. The rest will have to fight it out for appearances in rotation.

Glad that he is back to full fitness and doing well at Chelsea at the moment. He was such a superb player at Ajax, although he only became consistent late in his career around the age of 25. So curious to see if he will light up the premier league and take Chelsea by the hand. He has the ability for it I think

Off the mark in the Prem but that was shocking goalkeeping from Pope. Diabolical. He looks like a lively player, though. Another good attacking option for Chelsea.

I really wanted him here. I think he’s the best out of the Chelsea signings bar Silva.

De Bruyne. Top 1% visionary on a pitch hence the name ‘wizard’. Sometimes some footballers are just a joy to watch - he’s one of them. Luckily they’ve got Lampard who’s absolutely clueless how to get the best out of this team. Guardiola will be taking this kid wherever he’s at next

This kid is 27 and in his prime. Guardiola isnt gonna be taking him anywhere.

Back on topic his range of passing is just so good. Such a clever player links up well with havertz and mount in the midfield. And a great assist for werner. I want to start seeing that cross toward the back post that he is so deadly with.

It looks like you're not talking about the same player ? is @WR10 posting on the wrong thread ? but then again, he's talking about Lampard afterwards ?

Ziyech what a player. He is playing with full energy and confidence. Not worried about making mistakes.

His work rate also very good. Pressing machine I have to say. Constantly helping out full back Reece.

Frank already told ziyech having that leadership quality. Good to hear those things from manager.

Wanted this guy for United and have been proved right about him.

Why we were so fixated with Sancho I have no idea. It's like we forgot any other players existed .

I had a feeling at the start that he will end up as their best signings this season (along with Thiago Silva), and so far he seems to be showing it.

Shame we didn't go in for him, but he is 27 so pretty much ready for a Zimmer frame.

We signed another number 10 instead from Ajax that we didn't need and signed two rookie RW' from obscurity.

It's laughable really.

What's really impressive is that despite him playing really well right out of the gate, I think it's also quite obvious that he's nowhere peak fitness and match sharpness.

I said we should have signed him last season. 35m was it? Yet we were pushing for Sancho at 90-100m. Mental.

I don’t understand this. 10-15 years ago fans were happy about getting someone around 26-27. You literally by the player at their peak.
For some reason we are now fixated with 18-21 year old players who are inconsistent and makes mistakes and then shit all over them and write off their whole careers.

I am pretty confident Ziyech will prove to be one of the top 5 best transfers in the entire league this season. I don’t think there is a player with a better range of passing than him in the league.

In fairness i'm not sure Ziyech and Bruno would have meshed well together, both extremely high risk high reward players and you can only really have one in any team especially if you're looking to challenge for titles.

Good point - lots of similarities but I don't think I've seen Ziyech play as many risky passes as Bruno attempts per game, but that could just be down to Ziyech not being fully in his groove yet..
