Yep his signings were mostly atrocious. Though to be fair to him it was reported reliably that he didn't want Ugarte and had to be convinced to green light the signing. He may have been an Ashworth or Wilcox target.
 
They were good players though. They qualified for Europa.

We didn't bin off young senior players other than Pereira in his first season. We got rid of a bunch of players at the end of their contracts or youngsters that wouldn't get a chance (Garner, Chong).

Second season similar story with the exception of Fred, Henderson and Elanga going. De Gea was the only one with a big reputation but to me he was in a similar position as Casemiros is now. Both nearing the end of their careers on huge money. I wouldn't call it ruthless if we binned off Casemiros, it's common sense.

We've removed Rashford, Garnacho, Hojlund, Antony, Sancho and Onana this Summer. That's a huge statement. That's unprecedented for United. Even if you argue that Sancho doesn't count as he's a waster, it's still 5 youngish senior players removed. I can't recall that level of squad upheaval since the early years of Sir Alex.

Garner, Bailly, Pereira, Chong, Lingard, Matic, Pogba, Mata, Cavani, Tuanzebe, Elanga, Henderson, Fred, Telles, Van DeBeek, Iqbal, DeGea, Jones, Greenwood, Pellestri, Sancho, Ronaldo, Williams, McTominay, Wan Bissaka, Kambwala, Alvaro, Hannibal, Varane and Martial

That's a fair amount of players in various age brackets to shift on in only 3 windows to be fair.

Onana was beyond atrocious. Don't forget that inter signed him on a free transfer too.

We got absolutely fleeced.

Do you mean in 3 years?
 
Good but not enough. Disappointed the likes of Shaw and Maguire are still here - should've left years ago. Also Rashford, Hojlund, Onana and Sancho are still technically United players.
 
Hopefully this sort of vast squad turnover stops people constantly reciting the nonsense that it's the "usual" suspects letting the next manager down each time.
