I think he's better than Dorgu. Much tidier with the ball.

I wouldn't make any judgment yet as it's far to early in both their United careers. Also a lot of the matches coming up will have a end-of-season feel about them with not much to play for.

If I had to start one in the away match against Bilbao I'd choose Dorgu. But it's great to have 2 younger players fighting for the same position.

Abit too early to call but seems more composed on the ball. Dorgu looks clumsy but more physical driving with the ball. Will be reassessed next season how both careers fair but Dorgu will be the starter this season.

Amass first time delivery has impressed me though.

Some have mentioned he's not the tallest but I wouldn't be too bothered for the following reasons

1) he looks to have a very good spring and timing of his leap, similar to Shaw. Won a couple of headers yesterday up against much taller players I wouldn't have expected him too.

2) his position in this system is wing back rather than left back. The extra centre half should give us more height.

3) with Martinez out long term the young replacements like Yoro, Heaven and Fredrickson are leaving us less exposed aerially on that side. Amass alongside Martinez and that side could be easier targeted.

Agreed. I keep hoping they’ve seen something in Dorgu that we haven’t yet.

There’s no gurantee any other option would have been cheaper or were available to join.

Let’s give Dorgu a season before we start to write him off as Amorim develops his team. Hopefully he’ll shine with the right players, our attacking players have been awful.

Not writing him off - he’s young and has already added something to the team. We desperately needed some reinforcements there. Just hoping he shows more as he settles.

But £30m isn't cheap, and for not too much more I think we could have got someone much better e.g. ait nouri

I do worry the club is going to continue making similar signings of relatively unproven players on relatively low wages but decent sized fees and that too many of them won't be good enough

It's frustrating because getting someone who was a genuine attacking threat at lwb could have had been a massive improvement

Omari Forson being favoured was the more unforgivable one. Genuinely incredible looking back.
And you still find posters on here who can never see anything other than the manager and coaches are always right by them. Yeah forson was an even worse case, ETH was an absolute hypocrite.

Tap the f*cking brakes...

The lad had a really nice game against Wolves, he looked like he really belonged and hopefully, going forward, will develop into a fine LWB.

However, crowning him the new superstar at this stage is bloody ridiculous. And quit with the slagging off of Dorgu...young lad, new country, new team, new everything...and after a handful of games, some of which he has shown real potential...some of you want to ditch him?!?

This forum is weird like that. Probably the same people who wanted Amorim sacked in the matchday thread after Lyon was leading 4-2

Left backs rarely become superstars. I don't see any such coronation happening here. What I do see happening here is recognition that Amass was fantastic against Wolves. Yes, it was only Wolves and not prime Barcelona, but it was Wolves, a club which is notoriously tricky to deal with. If it wasn't his debut for United it couldn't have been more than his second or third start for United.

What becomes of Harry Amass remains to be seen, but there is every reason to be excited about his future...even if it is a bit premature to crown him the greatest left back of all time.

Fantastic is really far too strong, he was lively and looked like he might be a decent player but nobody was 'fantastic' against Wolves.

Amass could be the best thing to come out of this season, he has good feet and gets into good attacking positions, while defensively he’s not bad… best prospect I have seen at Old Trafford in years, let’s hope he continues to play and improve

He would have to be a good chance to start on the weekend wouldn't he?

Oh if that's the case Amass will definitely play, maybe Amad starts the other wing
No way Amad is starting. He'll get at most 25 mins on Sunday. Get his match fitness up a little whilst trying to minimise risk and fatigue.

He's too important to next Thurs and hopefully after.

Who else? I don't think Amad will play the 90 and Dorgu seemingly needs a break as well
No idea but the manager said post game he needed a rest. Given Dalot is also injured I don’t see him being risked in a nothing game

Brentford 4:3 Man Utd New
I know he is young, but he can’t compete in the premier league. He is physically about able to be competitive. He contributed to three of the goals because he couldn’t win a relatively easy second ball, and he couldn’t follow his man for the second goal. Then for the third goal, he doesn’t stop a cross.

His attacking ability is just as poor as he can’t even cross the ball.

I don’t like to make judgements out on young players, but for this position it is clear he won’t compete. I’m sure he won’t be playing next season regularly.

He looks like a school kid dropped in amongst men. At fault for three of the goals today but prior to this game he's done pretty well overall. He's a kid and he's going to have rough moments.

Not a good day for him. The bit about him not being able to cross a ball is bollocks though.

He's not ready for PL football at this stage. He needs to go on loan to a Championship side where he can get used to the physical side of senoir football.
1 or even 2 years out on loan and then we can try again.

Poor performance today, needs a loan. Most goals we conceded came from his area of the pitch. He got bullied over and over, didn't get enough power into his clearances and clearly needs to be much more aware defensively. I think he'll become a much better player with a good loan.
