I'm not on board with this loan move. The club is a shambles and he's going to get targeted.

Obviously on the one hand it seems a strange choice to send a player to a club in such a bad situation. On the other hand, the big thing for a young player out on loan is to get game time at an appropriate level - and if we wanted him to be challenged at championship level, then maybe it needed a club in such a situation to increase the likelihood of him getting sufficient game time at 18?

Yeah, it's an interesting comparison with Collyer going to WBA, who have started the season so well that he's been limited to about 20 minutes off the bench in total, after 3 matches.
Whether it's better for a young player to go straight into a worse side and get a load of minutes in challenging conditions, or be a bench option for a team nearer the top of the league.
At least it sounds like we can recall Amass in January, so 4 months of chaos might be character building!
As long as the manager is good with young players and doesn’t get fired then it is a great situation. Who cares if they lose, it is just more defending practice. The most important part is consistent match time.
Derby’s administration is a good example, it kickstarted a number of players careers that likely wouldn’t have got that chance other wise. Cashin, Knight, Ebosele, that’s just the Irish ones.

While I think Wednesday would take 11 random posters from here to play for them its really weird that hes ended up at Sheff Wednesday and that everyone involved was pretty set on getting him there.

Might be a bit grim, but Wednesday are still a huge historic club, and playing in front of a 25,000 crowd will help develop him. A relegation struggle will toughen him up and help develop his game smarts. Honestly shouldn't be anywhere near our first team now anyway.
Probably we agreed with the hierarchy that he will be indisputable starter - in this case it’s Ok that we cover everything.

after 6 minutes in his debut....I have watched Bristol C a few times this season because of Vitek, and they are a GOOD side, I wouldn't be surprised if the get promoted

Its an OG because the shot was heading wide and wouldnt have gone in without him (or someone else) making contact with it. In that case there was an opposition player behind him so he may have been able to turn it in if Amass didnt do it for him
Terrible start for Amass hopefully he gets more oppertunities in the near future

Thats loads of defending as he helped Wednesday keep a clean sheet against Portsmouth away and getting their first win of the season
2 dribbles, 1 shot, 1 key pass. The only part he needs to work on really is that he had 54% pass accuracy and his team only had 30.2% of the ball. But 54% was joint with 1 CB and only 1 striker and the goalkeeper had less than the 54%ers. So yeah the only downside to an incredible performance

That’s great to hear, really hope he takes his chance here, there is a player in there, so year of first team football would do him great.
Any idea why Amass didn't play against Grimsby in the EFL cup match where Wednesday lost?

His first game was rough with an own goal. Probably just dropped and then given another chance against Portsmouth. The 19 year old who came on for him in his first game also played against Grimsby.

Tad frustrating that he's loaned out to a side that plays 4 at the back (as most do) and puts in a solid performance at LB, his natural position but then would have to play a completely different position under Amorim if he made it back into the team next year (assuming Amorim is still here)

They don't. He's playing wing back.
The coach probably gave him a beating after the first game, so they had to scan him for PTSD symptoms, leaving him illegible for the next game because it collided with the psychiatric assesment. When he was found merely to suffer from delusions of full back positioning, he was picked as a wing back for the next game as psychoeducational treatment.
Looks like they made about 10 changes, and played a reserve team, bar one or two. They did the same against Leeds in the previous round, and somehow won.
Sounds like he had a knock too, but probably wouldn't have played anyway.

I’ve always liked him. He has obvious natural talent, which is a good place to start from. Playing a season in the Championship will be very good for him, he was just too small and weak to really play here last season.
He’s another that will probably lack the cutting edge to be a consistent difference maker in forward areas as a PL wing-back though, but as a LB he reminds me of Shaw, who at his best is/was ridiculously good.

Really good showing last night, turning in some strong performances in a good league, wonder if he is worth recalling as he plays more naturally as a wing back
No. The difference in the league is huge. Let him develop and get proper game time instead of having to compete with Dorgu and Dalot.
