He's probably at least a year away from being a starter level PL player. But he's definitely sure of himself and really wants to make it. Attacking wise he's probably better than some starting PL players already it's his defending that is the problem. If he's really 5'11 I don't believe it, he feels shorter physically he's not there yet but he's unafraid and he doesn't let mistakes get to him so I want to give him a shot this season. He's already Championship ready, he needs more reps before he's starting for us consistently.
I find he's tended to play safe with his past opportunities for the first team. I didn't see the full game against Wrexham so I don't know whether he picked it up, but for the few minutes I watched him, he seemed to just pass it back to the CB, even with options ahead.
This was a feature of his game for the senior side that I hope he's confident enough to bin now, as we know how good he can be offensively.

Saw him play a few times last season. First time I went to Hillsborough, I didn't even know he was on loan there and he stood out to me as the best player on the pitch. Went and watched Wednesday play a few times after that and he always stood out to me as the most comfortable on the ball.

I don't think we really lose anything by giving him a proper go this season if we can't go out and get our targets for the position.
He can either excel and be great, be average but hold his own and that can go one of two ways, either we persist and see if he can get better, or we look to sell him on at a healthy sum which then feeds into our transfer funds. Or he shits the bed, we get less money but maybe some upside from a sell-on%.

I hope he goes on loan, he was looking really good in the Championship last season and the right loan will see him in the mix next season. Even if we sign a LB this summer he can be lined up to replace Shaw.
Him and Devaney just won’t play enough if we keep them and they are at the stage where they are good enough to play regularly at a decent level.

His contract situation (now in his last year) complicates any potential loan move.

Maybe you didn’t notice his contract expires next summer. So if we sell, it’ll be minimal
Yes with him & shaw in their last year it complicates things and puts a time pressure on to get something sorted
I'm not sure what to think about Amass. He looks a proper prospect and if I could be sure that Shaw had 40 games in him I'd say give Amass the keys to the backup car. But if we do that we run a huge risk if Shaw can't go more than 20 games this season.
I am pretty certain that if he is played and we see some value, then we will work on securing an extension.
The thing is we have been hearing about him for years to break through but it seems he is still very far away from 1st team football.
The sensible thing to do is to sell and include sell on and buy back clause.
I know we lost some very good academy player like Garner. But for every Garner we also have a lot of Januzaj, Morison, Macheda, James Wilson and etc.

Give him a chance
- Desperately need a player in his position.
- Won our youth player of the season.
- Went on loan to the Championship where he looked like the best player on the pitch most weeks he was fit.
If now isn't the time to give him a chance even as backup then we should just close down the academy because there's feck all point in it. Does my head in.

He is only 19 years old and already did so well in championship. Only injury ruined his second half of the previous season. Time to integrate him to the first team.
The injuries are a problem for him. He wasn't the quickest to start with so they are a real concern. I think he'll have a good career somewhere but don't know if it's with us.

Yeah I couldn't recall any others. It's the one injury as far as I'm aware. Which is pretty normal I'd say.
He's the one who could break through for me. Certainly if we don't sign a LB he has to stay.

People did it with Chido, still do. "He's 17 so he must be a wimp. Off to the Championship to bulk up!". Funny how within minutes of coming on against Fulham he bodied Bassey, one of the stronger CBs in the league then isn't it?

He only turned 19 in March, the reason we have been hearing about him is how highly rated he is, he was even on the field at the end of the game in the famous Europa game against Lyon. I’d like to see him get some minutes for us but a new contract and loan is what I’m expecting

Also was strange how he scored arguably his best and most memorable long ranger for us on his debut (I think). Fooled me into thinking it would be a more regular occurrence, but then I struggle to remember him ever shooting from outside the box again!
R.e. Amass I don't know if he's good enough, but given how we practically gave Carreras away (and turns out he's definitely good enough to at least be a rotation option for us) I'd rather we at least give him a decent amount of minutes in some cup games this season.
Need to see more of this from our left side, don't feel like we've had a crossing left back since Telles.

Think he's got a decent chance of being our long term LB, not sure if we'll send him out on loan again this season just to iron out some things and gain a bit more experience but he's a very talented lad.

If the LB options stay the same then he has to stay. But if we bring in someone then it would make sense.
I'm not sure, depends who we bring in.
If it's Hall then Amass is probably done here. If it's Robinson then Shaw can help cover at centre back and Amass can still get plenty of opportunities.
Glad to see positive reviews, hopefully he gets some games next season. It would be ideal if we didn't have to spend big on an LB. I still think Dorgu is better suited to being an attacking FB on both sides too but we will see this season.
He should be backup next season. Shaw and Martinez can fight it for who is fit for LCB next game will play role
Not sure what your definition of 'break through" is, but it would be nice to see him play part of some cup games, and maybe last 15-20 minutes of some EPL games, even. I dont expect much more than that, for his level of experience
For his development, however, it may be the best for him to play regular football in some strong championship side
Amass acquitted himself well today against Rosenborg - he definitely played tidily, a little too safe and conservative at times, but it was a good pass back to Zirkzee for the second goal, and good to see him getting into position for a tap in for the fourth goal.

He was good on the offensive end but rather poor defensively, and that was against a League One-level opponent like Rosenborg. Personally don't think he's good enough for PL so unfortunately I don't think he'll make it here.
If it’s Hall then send Amass on loan for another year. If we don’t renew Shaw’s contract next year then we’ll need a second LB then anyway.

Same age as Cubarsi, intelligence and positioning are not attributes that can be improved significantly with age. Devaney who's been playing out of position these last 2 games, looks twice the defender compared to Amass which is quite telling.
