Harry Amass | 2026/27 Performances

Let's back this kid. Suspect he'll get more minutes than he would have thought and can hopefully prove the club wrong.

I would be really, really surprised if he got any significant minutes this season. The problem is we have a lot of players that CAN play LB, and most likely all will be ahead of Amass in the pecking order. I doubt he gains anything by staying here. Especially that the club apparently wanted him sold, probably he isn't rated that high.

Same. Carrick seems willing to trust the youth to a certain extent so maybe if the opponent is weak enough he'll get a chance?

Edit: Just remembered we've got Brighton in the Carabao cup, so that's probably a game chalked off already.
 
Seems pretty clear that he isnt rated by the manager, and so I suspect even with a lack of options he still wont see any senior minutes.

Shaw, Mazraoui, Dalot and probably even Martinez likely ahead of him for minutes at LB and who knows maybe even Dorgu too. Yoro emerging as a legitimate option at RB means we can spare Dalot or Maz over at LB too.

I don't get it though. He was quite alright in pre-season, especially against Leeds. I get that we shouldn't use him against the fastest wingers, but otherwise he should be good enough to rotate with Shaw, no?
 
If given the opportunity, I hope he shines. Maybe being a young player in a solid team full of senior pros can build and lift his game.

It's hard to know. Maybe currently he's getting cleaned in training by our RW players. If he plays, like most other full backs he's going to need his winger to come back and help out. I'm fairly happy Cunha or Dorgu will always do that. Even Rashford in the second half of the last game was sticking a few tackles in. Then I don't think the defending is that complicated. The harder part is getting the ball forward confidently and not falling into pressing traps but he's fairly tidy on the ball.

If he was playing at another club would we be signing him as backup to shaw for this season? I'm going to say no. Will he be good enough to take over from shaw next season, also a no from me.

He needs to go and play and improve. He could do a Garner but he's not going to get the minutes or experience here to meaningfully improve

Can't say I've seen much of Amass. Does he have the strengths to step up for those who have?
 
He doesn't look particularly quick when I've seen him, which is a bigger problem than his height, for me.

Maybe I just catch him on bad days when he's been unfit?

Attacking I think he'll be fine, it's his defense that will be the question. For someone his age he's good defensively, but if you take age out of it he's probably average to below average defensively compared to the rest of the PL. Combination of inexperience, overall speed and burst, and lack of strength is what makes him poor defensively. I think if he was in the Championship it'd be a different story or even if he was somewhere like Spain or Germany he'd be fine but in bigger faster leagues he'll get caught out. But what he does have is a bit of a mean streak and he's not afraid to get into tackles, and he's got enough confidence to not get rattled.



Just remember he was only 18 when he was with Sheffield Wednesday. In a worse team he'd get enough playing time, but we don't have enough time to cater to him
 
I remember Heaven also having problems defensively in the beginning (except for his great debut against Arsenal). Give Amass 2-3 league games and it might do wonders. He's clearly talented.

Was he? Just quick glance at post match comments and he isn't getting good reviews. General consensus was "he was an easy target" and "lacks physicality".

Personally I don't see him against Premier League and Champions League opponnents, and we're not going to play many games against lower tier opposition. Don't see him getting game time this season. Should have been sold for the sake of kids career.
 
I reckon he'll start in the League Cup and he'll have to do well if he wants more game time. Hopefully the team will be rotated but still strong enough to make some progress in the competition so he gets a few goes to prove himself and earns a bit of playing time in other competitions. One thing in his favour is that we've quite a variety of challenging right wing options for him to face in training so you'd like to think training with the first team won't be a wasted experience whatever happens.

I thought he was good until they used an exceptionally fast winger (I think it was Gnonto?) and didn't have the LW (was it Rashford?) helping him defensively, leaving him exposed. In the first half he was very impressive, playing good passes, tackled well, etc. Seemed to be capable of playing against a EPL team, unlike Tyler Fletcher for example. So for cup games and against a team like Sabah I think he should be tested.

I think he could be an option against lower tier opponents in the CL. Premier League I think is not for him in terms of pace and physicality, where he is clearly lacking and crucial for fullback. He is good on the ball that's for sure.

Really depends on the oppontent, but CL and cup games could slowly prepare him for the physicality (also meeds bulk up). I think his technique could eventually compensate his physical flaws. It's not like every good EPL fullback has good physique.
 
Strikes me he’d pair well with Dorgu, who is fast and strong and suited to staying wide. Amass has an inverted fullback skillset so that matches up.

Since Dorgu is probably behind Rashford and Cunha at LW, would be sensible to pair him with Amass for league cup games and the like.
