Yeah do agree about them turning this league into a game of Football Manager but with no FFP on them what can we do

If we sign a good midfielder pogba will be benched I would expect.
now is the time to make the most of him. With a sound defensive base behind him and us supposedly trying to play with a more attacking intent, he’s built for that and will thrive if we push up a tad and he doesn’t have to babysit Lindelof with another DM doing the same.

Nothing really. PSG and City have pretty much destroyed football as we know it.

The super league would have never been a thing bit for the oil clubs. The status quo has shifted forcing likes of Madrid, Barca and Juve to get desperate.

We have certainly come off badly too as without Roman Abramovich and Sheikh Mansour we'd be competing with just Liverpool and Arsenal.

we cannot play vs him and Bruno, we will get destroyed in midfield.

I don't get this behaviour. He's unhappy so they have to let him go? Why did he sign a contract until 2024 if he is so unhappy?
I know it's daily business these days but I miss the times when contracts meant something.
Same with Griezmann, Dembele or Sterling who just didn't attempt training camp. They get paid unreal money and enjoy the full benefits of a superstar status but decide to not show up for work...

Can't blame Levy if he doesn't let him go, even a club legend has to live up to his word, or even more so.
There's some story about a gentleman's agreement between Levy and Kane, of course so far Spurs has denied such.

Imo, he's the Spurs and England captain, that tells you something about his characters. And based on my knowledge about Levy, I'm on the side of Kane on this.

Nah that’s a myth. He can easily play with a decent DM and Bruno as the most advanced

Especially with an improved CB pairing behind them allowing them to push up.

This would work against 95% of teams.

It doesn't work against 50%.

Tottenham should take the £100 million and spend it on Patrick Bamford ( £45 million), James Tarkowski (£40 million) and Pascal Grosse (£15 million). Would instantly make them credible challengers for Top-4.
No it wouldn't.

It really wouldn't, it would solidify them as a 6th-10th side

As much as I'd love to see the utter meltdown that would happen from this. One of the worst hypotheticals I've seen.

I don’t think it would but I’d go for Pau Torres if I were them maybe Damsgaard and Tammy for a striker..

Yup, this is getting even worse.

I am aware that Kane would return at the end of the week, but the fact that this is resulting in him missing the first match of the season doesn't really help matters.
One game missed. That’ll show Levy. This is a pointless exercise. He’ll have to issue a growling apology after he comes back.

Well it does. In all of Pogba’s appearances only a couple were on the left. We didn’t exactly lose every time he plays in the middle.

Unless you sign up to the nonsense here that Pogba had an awful last season which is utter rubbish.

I really hate how football fans describe players they no longer want at their clubs who are no longer good enough. Has never sat right with me.
Glad it’s not just me. The disrespect of players (human beings!!) who are no longer flavour of the month is appalling. It’s almost like some of them are 2nd class citizens, fit only to be discarded.
Woe betide anybody who dares get injured or have an off form period!

Why? These are solid players with PL experience who would come to Tottenham.
Outside of the top-6, Bamford (scoring), Tarkowski (Blocks, Tackles) and Grosse (Assists) were the best performers last year, and they've shown a clear progression over the last 3 years. Grosse is 30 but has a good engine on him and will be cheap.

What big player or tremendous goal scoring talent will move to Spurs 2-3 weeks before the season starts?
Tottenham need to think like Leicester, not City/Chelsea.

Edit: Last season Tottenham were only 5 points off 4th place and 7 points off 3rd place. These 3 players would address major weaknesses at Tottenham and wouldn't need that much time to adjust to the pace of the league.
Why do they need PL experience? By your logic, why would any of those sides sell to Spurs 2-3 weeks before the season starts?

If they need to think like Leicester, there's so many better options across Europe for less.

that dominance is not unknown in the premier league though is it. we won 7 out of the first 9, was the premier league a bit of a joke then?

Grealish isn't much of an improvement to what they already have. And Kane has yet to to finalize. So let's wait until we put our heads in the sand. Plus I almost hope Kane happens so we have a free ride for Haaland next summer.

You probably thought the same after Chelsea signed Ballack and Sheva with Mourinho after winning back-to-back Prem titles.

Nothing is a guarantee.

We didn't do it with Abu Dhabi billions. We just had the greatest manager of all time. The fact we've been rubbish since he left despite still being incredibly rich should tell you that.

What's happened at City isn't remotely the same. It's football manager in real life.

Haha exactly. I saw this strange thing on TV yesterday too about these tropical tigers who eat rabbits but consider themselves vegetarian

The gap between that Utd team and Chelsea team wasn't that big for me. And we had Rooney, Ronaldo, Rio, Scholes etc and of course Fergie.

The gap between us and City is huge. Kane and Grealish don't make it smaller.

But it is what it is. The PL have welcomed in this foreign money. Now we have to deal with the consequences

It would be a very Spursy thing to do. They'd have learned nothing from the time the squandered all the Bale money on Soldado, etc.

different path, same result, it doesnt matter how the feat is achieved just the effect it has on the league.

you could also argue, as my daughters have done, that in those 9 years that we won it 7 times, the premier league was weaker as it supplied only a single champions league finalist (us in 99) compared to now where the premier league has provided 5 champions league finalists out of the last 8. For the 7 in 9 scenanrio to play out for city there is still another 10 finalists to be decided so that ratio could be worse. Add in the uefa cup /europa leage / cup winners cup its 5 out of 32 for our 9 years and so far for ciity's 9 years its 3 out of 8 with 10 places still to be decided.

I don’t know how sitting in Miami helps Kane’s cause here. He’s burning bridges with Levy and the fans. Levy can just sit tight and adamantly ask for more money. If a deal is not struck, Kane will have to come back with the tail between his legs.

Better way of playing this would have been him coming back, keep the fans on his side and also try and smooth things out with Levy and discuss for a move away.

He's signing for Inter Miami?

So Nuno and Harry haven't even talked to each other yet!!
I still have this feeling Levy promised Nuno that Harry will be staying when he took the job, without any conversations with the player and now everything is ready to explode.

I'm just gonna sit back and laugh (until City sign him at least).

Did Glaston delete his account? I can't tag him :smirk:
Looks like he has and good for him.

I blame people like you, for hounding this rare treasure trove of entertainment out of the forum by constantly and lazily tagging him whenever something bad or embarrassing happens at Spurs (which is all the time). It's obvious even someone as deludedly self-confident as him would suffer from the bullying pressure eventually.
We should have waited until he comes posting, after a couple of victories or so, and let him entertain us on his own accord.
