Those saying he is our best CB are being silly though. He is behind de Ligt, Mazrouai and Yoro playing in a back 3, and probably a fit Shaw too.

It’s just nice to see such a maligned and memed player have his moment. If we can go on to win it, he will have a completely different legacy than he would have done, and I think we can all agree that is nice for him.

Bilbao will be tough, but I hope we get a special occasion this season. The fans deserve it and so does Maguire.

This. Guy suffered a lot and really deserved this. He is mentally strong fecker and i am really happy that, from all people, he was the one who scored that goal.
But lets not go over the top now; he is still liability in defence which he showed multiple times yesterday.
 
Just showing that having a striker that is strong on the air is a massive advantage. But that should go without saying.

But thats just one aspect isn't it. Thats the difficult thing - the search profile has to cover many things and I'd say in modern times being strong in the air isn't even in the Top5 anymore.
 
Yesterday game summed him completely didn't it?

When he has time on the ball he can ping a pass. When he's pulled out of position his lack of pace is exposed. I am certain he ducked his head out the way on the equaliser and also stood still on the onana drag back (even if it was a goal by that point)
Then he goes up top and scores a clutch goal.
 
I genuinely think he’d be better for us at 9 than Hojlund will be for be for the rest of the season.

Something for us to actually aim crosses at. Will contest and likely win long balls up the park.
 
Strange decision by the referee not to give a penalty for the blatant shirt pull on him right after Bruno's penalty. The linesman should have helped him out there in case the ref had not seen it.

Incredible. I was shocked at how well he manipulated the ball for that cross. Better technical ability than Garnacho in that position.
 
From most hated and maligned player to the one who is the most responsible for us possibly winning the EL and saving the season. Don’t forget, his play on the wing started all of this.
 
The gall to go back and take that player on again, then deliver that peach. Forget Bruno, forget Amad, only one man needs an OT statue.
 
Who knew his best talents were up front. All kidding aside, he has been really good for us for some time and deserves all the plaudits for showing character to come back from the criticism.

That’s what made it so good, he quickly thought about passing it back, then thought again “hang on, this guy is shite and I’ve just absolutely skinned him once, I think I’ll just skin him again”.

All those years we have been hitting set pieces pointlessly to him on the back post. Turns out the actual idea was for him to get the ball down and do a Georgie Best impression.
 
What a strange career. For two or three years, he was quite possibly the worst player at the club. Then he just had enough of that and became one of the highlights of the season.
 
Leader! Even before the truly bizarre and brilliant wing play that led to our first goal he was our best defender in what was a nervy defence.
 
What a legend. With De Ligt back in defence Amorim will have a tough choice with Maguire. Play him up top or out on the wing?
