I would say hes mostly been average with moments of mess.Yeah, our worst player alongside Ugarte today. He’s mostly been good this season though.

Yeah. So tired of him and Lindelöf starting. Harry is a much better defender but his bottom level is every bit as bad as the latter and they both dally on the ball needlessly. We look so much better with Mazraoui at RCB and Yoro at LCB. I hope De Ligt and Shaw are fit enough to start the final.I'm glad he's had a relatively positive season and got praise for his impact in the EL particularly.
But I will also be glad when he's not in the starting eleven any more.
Might not be but probably are best attacker atm.The funniest moment of the game for me was when the West Ham player just waltzed past him while he stood there like a statue unable to move.
Our best defender, apparently.
...if they are fit..In De Ligt and Yoro we have a bit of a Rio and Vidic pairing, potentially for the next 7-8 seasons. Just build on that and ship Mr 80m out
Similar to the Wan-Bissaka situation a year ago. If someone comes in with a 15m offer, we should accept it instead of waiting for him to leave on a free.

Turning him into a cult hero for his late Lyon goal and the cross v Bilbao is dangerous.
He is the same old donkey at the back.
I don’t know how De Ligt gets the hype he does, maybe it’s a Manchester United fan thing where any passionate aggressive player who slides in gets ratingsIn De Ligt and Yoro we have a bit of a Rio and Vidic pairing, potentially for the next 7-8 seasons. Just build on that and ship Mr 80m out
His header literally received 10x the applause that Mainoo got for his goal, which ironically was more impactful on the result (we were out without it) and technically far harder to executeAgreed.
He deserves credit for bailing us out in Europe, but even then, his performances at the back were worrying. He's had a poor season.
I think it's a bit harsh to say he's been poor. He's had an up-and-down season, much like all of our defenders. Had some periods where he was good, had some where he struggled.Agreed.

It was a bit over the top but he was truly terrible in 21/22 and still fairly poor in 22/23. That was mostly his fault, not his teammates. The mistakes were happening no matter who his central defensive partner was (it was Lindelof only about half the time). In saying that his combination with De Gea did seem to be a contributing factor as neither seemed to know what the other was doing, but that's on both of them.Always defended Maguire during that bad spell thought it was so over the top and most of it was Lindelof/De Gea’s fault but not sure how he gets so much praise recently, he’s finished and quite bad these goals don’t change anything
Other way of looking at it is - our fate was still undecided when Mainoo scored, because it was still going to Penalties. Maguires goal was a winner so of course it got a bigger reaction. His header literally received 10x the applause that Mainoo got for his goal, which ironically was more impactful on the result (we were out without it) and technically far harder to execute
A winning goal getting the most applause. Imagine that...His header literally received 10x the applause that Mainoo got for his goal, which ironically was more impactful on the result (we were out without it) and technically far harder to execute

I think he's been ok, but I think De Ligt has been better from a defending standpoint, and I think we lost a lot once De Ligt got injured. All that being said, I have a huge amount of respect for Maguire, given what he's come back from. I think one more year will do and then it'll be best for all if he finds a new team.Maybe it's harsh, but for me, he's been poor from a defensive standpoint. Others have been poor, too.
Some of the praise is a-bit of fun, given he's come up with some crucial moments in the EL. But, then you have some posters who go way OTT and make out he's "our best defender" or he's had a good season. I just can't subscribe to that at all.
