He is pretty average and error prone. His lack of pace also means that our line is much farther back than it should be. I would sell if a decent offer came in.
Yeah, I'm not a fan. We need more players like Yoro and Heaven who tick the three boxes of being good on the ball, decent in the air and quick.

I thought he had a poor season, despite some of the nonsense on here. He's getting slower and his defending just isn't good enough.

Hopefully he gets maximum 10 matches in total next season.

Just don't want to see him play for us anymore, because reasons stated above me.

My word, stick to water then, maybe you will remember games better. One half-mistake and his immense run of form will be forgotten, cmon, you cant be a bigger ignorant.

He will play a lot more than 10 matches. The only CB that has stayed fit throughout most of the season is Maz.

I think he was mostly decent this season. We can improve on him, but we have much bigger issues than replacing Maguire.

Wouldn't say he's immediately on the chopping block, but he's behind Yoro, DeLigt, and Heaven in the pecking order for me.

Wouldn't be too upset if he's on the list to be culled though, as long as we have a suitable replacement.

He's 32 and on contract till June 2026. I imagine we'll keep him one more year

Not to mention being scared to cut out yet another ball into the box without checking what was happening behind him.
I agree. I think he should have dealt with that dangerous cross across the six yard box late on - just as he should have dealt with the cross that reached Johnson on Wednesday night

There were a few headers where he was just heading it to them with no little pressure. Heading is supposed to be his strongest attribute yet he always puts headers back in the dangerous areas and I’m not talking about the Goalkeeper error.
He's brilliant at winning headers but he's always been quite poor at directing where they go (both when defending and also when attacking on set pieces). I remember when Martinez first joined it was quite a glaring comparison with how he's so small but somehow most of his headers were clearly aimed straight to one of his teammates.

Harry may be as slow as a giant tortoise and prone to the occasional, very dangerous error, but he’s shown more than his worth to the team on quite a a lot of occasions.
He’s saved our bacon loads of times, so we should appreciate that.

Our young up and coming teenager CB’s are still inexperienced and not yet fully physically developed .
They need the presence of experienced, seasoned, senior players alongside them and with them in training.

We could do a lot better by offloading him, but now is not the time.
I think Harry is worth keeping for at least another season.

I think this is an understated flaw in his game. At the end of the day our centre backs will head the ball a lot. If they can’t direct those headers to team mates it has a significant negative effect on possession.

Saying he's had an immense run of form is as over-the-top as saying he was poor all season.

In reality both he and De Ligt had very similar seasons, where they both had periods where they looked very solid but they also both had periods where they were making quite a few mistakes. Neither had a season that is ultimately good enough. Obviously the hope is that De Ligt will grow into that role now he's got a year under his belt.

Had a good season individually after the vast majority said he was done and would be usurped by De Ligt in the side. Proved himself the better player and made the CCB position his own.

Getting on a bit now and is bound to decline but still an asset.

He was usurped by De Ligt for half of the season. De Ligt got injured and Maguire stepped in and then finished the season strongly.

He did not prove himself the better player. He played as De Ligt was injured and did ok as his backup

De Ligt’s ropey performances were all earlier in the season. Which can be excused by new team, new league. Once he hit some form he maintained it right up until he was injured. Maguire came in and did well but has still made some eye catching mistakes in the last few games. Plus he consistently takes far too long on the ball. De Ligt will deservedly get his place back when fit. I can see a use for Maguire next season but I could also see a case for moving him on.

Tbf, I said he had "a poor season". And I stand by that. At his day job as a defender, I thought he was quite poor. He had some good games, but ultimately I never feel comfortable with him playing. He came up with some non-defensive big moments, so fair play in that respect.

Yeah think this is fair. I think he’s done well this season by previous seasons standards but it’s clear our defensive line isn’t as high as it could be to protect him and that in turn causes issues with how we move the ball and defend.
It was noticeable today that with Dorgu and Heaven in the team we stepped the line up a bit more and things looked a lot better.

I’d argue he perhaps hasn’t had a poor season, he’s played to his level, which is in itself pretty poor in general.

I think the OTT bullying he received a while back and collective guilt from media and fans alike have kind of created a new standard for him. He gets overly praised for distinctly average performances now.
