How can people remain positive after this shit show and past experiences spanning across a decade ? Surely they must be on drugs ?

It is possible to expect nothing and choose to be optimistic anyway. Optimism and naïvety are not synonymous.

We’ll definitely be ready to fight for 6th, that’s about it though.

One week until preseason starts and 0 signings so far. Oh, but our second choice LB might be there! Truly impressive stuff! Whatever happened with Ten Hag wanting business to be concluded before that?

Deadline has changed, now it's the end of the pre season tour...

Sounds and looks like a shitshow this transfer window. No planning or thought gone in to it.

Spent guts of nearly 2 months to chase a player that 100% doesn't wana leave his current club by sounds of it.

We hijacked a deal last min for young player so was he even a target in 1st place.

Is Martinez a target from day one for manager or is it to stop another club from getting him.

Ronaldo wants out and has wanted out since begining of the year so where was the planning.

At this moment of time doesn't look great and ETH doesn't have much to prepare for pre season.

Hope it gets better or we will be in for long season again.

The deadline change has pissed me of I have to say. The club just has zero sense of urgency it’s so infuriating.

It just keeps see-sawing between looking great to looking disastrous, doesn't it? The reality is probably somewhere in the middle.

No issues with the targets identified, I think it was clear the club was waiting to agree a de Jong fee before moving onto other targets and Barcelona are attempting to take the club for a ride. It appears the €65m guaranteed is agreed and so the club has moved onto other targets now. Is what it is. At least the targets identified are likely familiar with Ten Hag's football and will hopefully not take too much time to integrate.

I think the centre forward issue that has presented itself over the weekend is now the biggest headache.

Does say they want signings this week before they go, as well.

If Eriksen is going to come, I would imagine that will be in the next few days once he returns to England. I think Martinez will move quickly once a bid gets accepted. And obviously Malacia is already at Carrington.

De Jong, if they bother to continue that pursuit, and any forward (presumably Antony is the main target) will obviously be some way away yet, so the end of the tour is more realistic for a timeframe.

I'm not to worried yet, but I'd like to see a few in this week and the Ronaldo situation resolved either way ASAP.

I really admire the patience in some of our fans, clubs in and around us are doing business without much fuss and we are struggling to close out a deal from a skint club after 2 months of negotiations.

How can people remain positive after this shit show and past experiences spanning across a decade ? Surely they must be on drugs ?
It's beyond me, but maybe they get a kick out of it by getting to scream at other Utd fans online on how they are not proper fans or some other tosh.

Ah, off to a good start then. Already moving deadlines and no preseason with the new additions to the squad. Now where have I seen this one before?

I would assume the 5th is down to how well we sell Pereira/Bailley/Jones/AWB/ Martial
From what I am hearing, they all want to 'stay and fight for their place'.......

So first signing in Malacia to be announced tomorrow probably.

Good we got him if ETH wants him but let's be honest as fair as vital signings needed to improve us immediately this doesn't exactly tip the scale much right now.

1 backup left back complete!
Telles won’t have a future at United if we sign Malacia. Although Shaw will nominally remain first choice, his injury record makes it likely that his “backup” will play as many, if not more, games than him.

So Arsenal and City just announced another signing this morning, takes the total up to City 3, Arsenal 4, Liverpool 3 and Spurs 4, all while our best player is likely leaving on top of 5 players that have already left and the club have moved their own deadlines back.

Even the eternal optimists can't be feeling too good at this point.

There's clearly thing brewing but the speed at which we are moving is excruciating.

Whatever you think of them, we have lost Pogba, Matic, Lingard, Cavani, Mata and now Ronaldo is wanting out. After a season in which we lost our second most potent goalscoring threat for non-footballing reasons.

We have an exciting new manager who, at this moment, is not only lacking the tools to work, he barely has a bag to put them in. All the while our rivals are adding very good signings. Each have signed players who would instantly improve out first XI.

Like I said, we will make signings but if I was a player being pursued by Utd, I'd be less sure of the new project now than I would have been at the start of the window. Our best player wants out, we've not brought anyone in to replace gaping holes, and there's deadwood at the club that is seemingly nowhere close to leaving.

Agreed I'm not saying it's a bad singing just not the most vital considering our situation. Many more needed. 4 or 5 minimum

Agreed. Ronaldo’s wanting out suddenly makes 5 look more likely.
Means we now need six for the first XI, shouldn't be a case of RW/ST when now both are going to be required but not got the budget

Good that Eriksen looks to be coming. If we can get him, Malacia and De Jong over the line this week then despite the slow start it’s not a disastrous position to be in going on to the tour.

Also with Eriksen being free and Malacia cheap then that still leaves a substantial budget to strengthen elsewhere.

Next priority is driven by the Ronaldo situation. We really need a good forward or two.

We need Antony and someone to lead the line, however budget says we only get one now

Seems the mood has picked up on here but I’m seriously not thrilled about our first two signings being a backup full back and a backup attacking midfielder. Our priorities are all over the place.

Nah, sorry. Folk don't get to bitch and moan because we haven't signed anyone and then move the goalposts once we do. If you want to moan then do it somewhere else, frankly, because the negativity from you and the other usual suspects in every single thread is getting tiring.

If they cant whinge and moan, what else can they say? They need to for their mental health.

There is a high chance these two signings become regular starters this season.

These two are not backups at all.

Apart from Ronaldo, we won’t miss any of those based on last season’s performances.

Also, the wages saved there will be eye-watering numbers.
