Did the video actually say we have 200m though? The clip I seen never mentioned budget, just said there was money.
It was reported somewhere but I couldn't find the source that 200 mils was mentioned or something like there was much higher budget available than everyone thought was about 120 mil.

Edit:
Adding on the club's transfer this summer, Arnold said: "Money is not a consideration in who we want. It is if the manager wants him and if he has done his homework on the player. It is £100million or £200million? Do you want me buying the players? Does that not ring a bell?"

Nowhere fast? I would say we arent going anywhere with McTominay as a starting midfielder. Well, we might go down with him actually. Im sure Manchester United wont relegate but almost relegated teams like Everton and Leeds have better midfielders than McT.
I agree, he's terrible. It was just a turn of phrase.

Not every signing strengthens a team though. Some turn out to be shite, as we all know. Spurs could buy 10 new players (none of them are going to be world class) and I'd still be confident of finishing ahead of them with Ten Hag
I think people said that last season too...

So.. The Sun (we all know we can trust such an august organ) says the Antony deal is done. The Star agree and adds we are going to hijack Arsenal's move for Lisandro Martinez. More likely is we'll buy Fred's kid sister and a packet of wine gums...

Less than a week until pre season training. Where are we at -

Won’t pay £10m more for our main target. Glazers set to take £11m out of the club and into their own pockets this week

Can’t convince a 30 year old free agent to join us, prefers Brentford

Can’t convince an 18 year old free agent to join us, prefers Crystal Palace

Van Gaal has scared our defensive target away by saying he won’t play the World Cup when he probably won’t play him anyway

So FDJ is slowly but surely making progress, concrete Antony rumours, concrete Martinez rumours and Eriksen on a free looking up.

I think FDJ is the ‘marquee’ signing for us and once that’s done, I can see the other deals coming not too long after. Hopefully we’ll get a 5th guy in as well, whether that be another central midfielder or a full back.

Barcelona undoubtedly haggling is holding the whole thing up and I imagine ETH has said ‘Get FDJ at all costs. Everyone else who I want has a decent alternative we can consider except him’, hence why nothing else has happened yet.

Yeah think you are bang on there, so given a choice out of 2nd midfielder or full back?

This idea, true or not, that we wait around to do a deal for De Jong before pulling the trigger on other targets is genuinely mental. You really, really hope that it isn’t true.

I’m jealous of United fans in the year 3000 when we can clone players from the past , accelerate their growth and put them in the team as and when needed , even if they have short lives like that sheep Dolly we have a conveyor system at all different ages ready to go , none of this signing crap

To be fair, every time I log onto this thread and see no signings, I have also been smashing up my house, Eastenders style (as the characters always seem to do when they are angry about something). Its costing me a fortune.

Tweet Richard Arnold and I'm sure he will show up at your door with a toolbox and some beers

This will also come to pass, make no mistake.

After going out buying replacement crockery, ornaments, picture frames and printing replacement photos of loved ones to put in them, I returned home and logged in, cheerfully expecting some kind of progress..

We'll make signings but Christ you'd think the club would at least like get at least one tied up quickly given the season we've had.

Logically, you are correct.
But as we have seen from the last decade, our club doesn't make logical decisions. In fact, some decisions are so illogical, you'd think that the powers that be had had their brains removed when those decisions were made.

Correct.
It's a shame because we are desperate for a DM - we don't have any DMs in the team.
More dedicated to working for the team than Pogba I would say, however without Matic we have zero DM's in the squad

Ten Hag already has a massive task ahead of him to get the team back to winning ways. If he doesn't get most of his signings by the time preseason starts, it will be a much more difficult job.

If he starts the season with the same squad from last season, he will be in trouble by December.

Why?

The players aren't back yet and ETH evidently want to weigh up all players before making any vast judgement calls.

There's obviously two or three targets that ETH has who we are after no matter what, but I'm guessing alot of the negotiations may be based on selling a couple of players first to improve any budgets we may have.

Don't really see what difference getting a player in now will have to getting one in when all players are back, considering the likes of FDJ are on holiday anyhow.

My biggest issue is that we're only linked with Ajax or former Ajax players.

Its nice going through the collective stages of grief here:

1. We'll sign 10 players.
2. We'll definitely sign 4 under a tight budget.
3. Relax, new DoF, he's being shrewd in negotiations.
4. So what if all the clubs are signing players.

5. Lads aren't back in training yet.
6. Internationals, targets are still on holiday.
7. We'll surely sign someone by start of season
8. SSN deadline day on TV, muppet suicide watch on phone.
9. feck you Glazer!!

You forgot one in the copium stage. "World Class player our competition bought will flop because *madeupreasonthatstinksofdesperation*"

Oh, and the denial phase misses "never wanted player X anyways, he will struggle in the PL which is without equal."

If we don't sort out our defence first it's useless going after Antony. FDJ etc
The defense is weak in the first place because

1. Lack a midfield (Mctominay belongs in the championship, Fred is mediocre, and Bruno's basically a striker these days).

2. Lack a thoroughbred RW.

3. Lack a quality RB.

I promise you if we improve the midfield with 3 quality signings, get a RW, and a quality RB then the defense will massively improve. Though I agree I'd like better options than Maguire, Lindelof, and Varane. At the very least I don't think it's a priority. It's all about balance and we at the very moment lack that.
