People keep bringing up Ferguson having a bad start to his management time at United and the fact that the club stood by him as if Ferguson isn’t a once in a lifetime generational manager, and as if “giving time” to any random scrub will suddenly turn them into “Fergie 2.0”
Nothing about Ole even hints at that. Guy has presided over our worst run of form since 1962, and even when he had a great start, which lead to the dickhead decision of giving him the job full time (seriously, what other institution the size of United appoints a manager on the back of 3 months form?) plenty of people in the xG thread pointed out how many of our results were flattering and our performances were not convincing and that it would eventually catch up. People “Ole’s at the wheel’d” those supposed detractors to death, and look where we are now.
Guy signed 19 players for Cardiff still got relegated, and you’d be hard pressed to name any of the 19 signings as decent/good players, but somehow Ole is the one to lead the rebuilding at United, all because he name drops Fergie and says stuff like “knows what this clob is all about”. Ffs.
The football is awful, his revolutionary idea to sort us out was “running”. His supposed double sessions preseason has led to a bunch of early season injuries and the intensity on the pitch is the same as it always was. No discernible play style and regularly losing/being outplayed by teams that end up getting trashed the weekend after or before playing us.
The guy was a manager at Molde, in a league that’s arguably of a lower standard than league 1 in England.
But somehow people keep thinking that taking the squad to go offer prayer circles at the Cliff will eventually pan out.
Ok maybe Ole is not a proven manager and is out of his depth here, but we had proven managers in Van Gaal and Mourinho and it didn't work.
Both were washed up. LvG had not been in club management for years. Mourinho has been sacked from his previous two jobs, including having a title winning team sitting at 17th in the league.
