Higuain is a one dimensional footballer with a boring style. Kind of like Michael Owen. He may be effective but he is distinctly unsexy.

There is no point signing Higuain when we already have Chicharito.

And no, his all round game is not on Lewandowski level.

I rather have Higuain. Class forward. Works hard, runs down the channels, shoots well with both feet, decent header of the ball. A bit like Hernan Crespo (with slighter physique).
Crespo was one of the best strikers to read the games during his years. Higuain is braindead. Pretty much, if Robben was a striker and was much less talented, he would have been Higuain.

Being an out and out finisher doesnt mean hes braindead. I can understand people dont particularly like his style but hes far from braindead.

Won't Benteke be a lesser risk for them then either Higuain or Damiao ? They play with 1 lone striker so i am not sure Higuain will fit that well there either.

They only play with a lone striker because their current strikers are either freaking useless or have been injured. They were playing with 2 upfront earlier in the season. As for Benteke, I think bigger fish will go in for him this window.

Bigger fish? Which means he has to go abroad because I dont see any of United, City or Chelsea going for him, which leaves Arsenal and Totteham as the next two strongest.

I can actually see him going to Chelsea this summer, he's an improvement on Torres and slightly better than Ba. I'd much rather that happened than Lewandowski or Falcao ending up there. I still reckon he's most likely off to Italy though, to Juve.

my Italian 'ex-ultra' Inter colleague who sits opposite me in my office thinks they will sign him.

Are we actually worried about Arsenal signing Rooney? Lol

There's no way he'd make a step down like that and I doubt we'd sell him to another domestic team. He's hardly likely to try and force a move through to perennial no hopers like Arsenal either. The very best they could probably do is match his salary, and that would be a first for them.

No one's signing the fat cnut - you're stuck with paying him £250K a week to eat chips.

What we are seeing is the lack of appreciation for Higuain. It's a similar case to Borini, who is more limited, but he would flourish more had he been older and playing in the early 21st century (I'm not saying Borini is great, he's average at best). The point is, football is constantly changing. Higuain is a very good striker, with an excellent conversion rate record, but his limited skill set is the reason he failed to maintain a first team place at Real Madrid in the last two seasons. When he picked up the injury that more or less ended his season in 10/11, Mourinho capitalised and used Benzema, who offers better link-up (more assists) and overall play. Another weakness of his is his inability to produce regularly in the big games. That will possibly change, but I feel the team needs to be built around him to get the best out of him. No doubt... whoever signs him will have a very good striker, but his limited skill set could prove to be detrimental, as this proved to be the case last season and the season before (in spite of his goal scoring record).

If he joined Juventus he would be a star player there IMO.

They desperately need a good goal scorer, and Higuain is usually pretty reliable infront of goal. They dont need a build up striker as all the work is done by midfield.

He just needs to find a system that is tailored to finishing, rather than being involved.

He's signed, according to the Times. 4-year deal.

He's like an upgraded Hernandez. His all round game isn't as good as the top strikers but he'll score goals.

Very good signing for Arse if true. May not be the best all rounder but he'll easily grab you 20-30 goals a season.

Thought his agent said Arsenal arent the plan

Higuain going to Arsenal? Not to my knowledge," Bronzetti told tutto mercato web.
"Besides, the situation is still to be defined by the new coach, which could be Carlo Ancelotti. Until then, nothing is definitive, but I can only say that about Higuain there are five or six teams (involved), not just Juventus and Arsenal."

Would be a really good signing if Arsenal make it though
