Yeah meant Soul Warrior as well. Took me a fair few tries before I saw his ass dead on a plate. I first tried the pussy way @diarm went with thinking alright this a tight place with no time to heal so I better not get hit by this nutter, then I realised I had an upgraded nail and also cyclone slash so just decided to pull out some of those ballet spinning moves and get that turd shaped feckface down.
Although I think he means Soul Warrior not Soul Master. But both deserve to sandbagged.
I really want you to finish this so we can help each other through Silk Song. There's no way I can keep up with some of the lunatics in hereYeah meant Soul Warrior as well. I think Soul Master's slightly easier given there's a lot more room to operate and you can be a bit patient than being randomly thrown into a tiny space with a raging teleporting lunatic, though he's still the big cnut brother of the two.
Honestly it really irks me how I keep thinking about getting back into this even when I've been playing another game for a while and thought I'd not touch it again. Just randomly watch all these insane speedrun videos and stuff but the fact that there are so many ways to progress tell me that I'm not actually stuck - I can skip the Soul Master and get into other areas in different ways and stuff. But whenever I get back to it I'll beat his sorry ass first. It's just personal at this stage.

I didn't like bosses like Soul Master and Nightmare King Grimm... Where your have to keep dodging and then damage them with one or two hits then repeat.
I preferred the bosses where I rolled in with my big nail and slapped the bosses around.
You're just gonna end up watching endless videos on how it actually pans out and what all kind of enemies players have to deal with in the entire and never stop wondering maybe if you had given that last spot another try you would have made it and figured out everything in the game.Sank about 13 hours into this over the last week. Just rage uninstalled it though. It's a beautiful little game but I'm sick of playing it now due to the difficulty and frustrating elements it has, that'll only get worse. I think I'm just not made for difficult platformers, so if I'm already struggling now then what's the point in carrying on? Games are supposed to be fun and this one doesn't really have much of that going for it.
Mate if you read back this thread, you'll find that I wasn't a big fan. It was too difficult for me and I kept also getting lost. But there comes a time when it all just clicks. Best experience would to explore yourself as much as you can. Couple of things is that there are multiple routes to every area so never think you are stuck. And whenever you get new movement abilities like dashing or jumping off walls go back to previous areas and sweep them again as it's likely with new abilities you can reach places you can't previously. So I’ve just started this game as something a little different to play. I’ve enjoyed it so far but not entirely sure what I should be doing. I’ve beaten the first boss and got myself a map and compass which is proving helpful. Any starting tips?
Thanks appreciate the reply. Will keep this In mind.Best experience would to explore yourself as much as you can. Otherwise initially just keep the compass equipped. Buy the quill at the shop in Dirtmouth so you can update maps. The game is linear for first 3-4 areas but after that it opens up completely and you pretty much find endless routes all across the world.
You would have seen the benches already so you can buy those markers which show where all benches and other landmarks are.

Thanks mate, very helpful. I’ll see how I get on.Use map markers so you don't have to go through every area again when you get a new ability.
Open as many Stag stations as possible. If you don't have enough geo, grind a little bit.
Enjoy the exploration. Get to know the areas, makes it easier later down the line.
At first the bosses will be hard and you may feel like rage quitting but stick with it because as you progress, you'll get some awesome upgrades and smashing enemies you find hard now will be so easy.
If you get too stuck, ask someone here. This last point is what helped me a lot.
What I often did when I got stuck was simply to look at the map and find the places where there was a noticeable path I hadn't taken and then go from there. Thanks mate, very helpful. I’ll see how I get on.
Cheers for the encouragement, will certainly bear it in mind and when I'm done with some other games I may be willing to revisit this one! I learned some lessons about what NOT to waste time doing from that 13 hours I put into it (like that Ant dude who sells you a gem that increases geo but breaks when you die - won't be repeating that time and geo consuming error again!), so I could probably condense that into far fewer, productive hours and go from there to progress if I were to start afresh.Mate if you read back this thread, you'll find that I wasn't a big fan. Also, remember that you upgrade massively as the game progresses. You eventually get so strong, that you can stroll around Hallownest like Stone Cold Steve Austin and slap motherfeckers up for fun!
Surely once you've covered the first few areas doing them again would be super quick. Majority of the time spent for me whenever going through a new area is exploring all the new places and getting to learn new enemies. Once done you can pretty much just run across most places knowing there are very few enemies that you even need to engage with unless you are in need of geo.I think I'll probably never properly play this. Reached Soul Sanctum on my current play through and the lappy is going away. If I get it on PS4 I'll have to start over for the third time. Sigh.
It's strange. I've reached Soul Sanctum so I've gotten through a decent portion but I don't think I've beaten many bosses and the few intimidating one (other than hornet) who I've faced have walloped me the 3-4 times I've faced them. Unless I've beaten a few who count as bosses but I thought they didn't.Surely once you've covered the first few areas doing them again would be super quick. Probably. It's just that this is my second attempt and I don't know if I have it in me for a third. There's very little till that point anyway. You start with little bosses like vengeful king and gruzmother, which are both anyway optional. In reality you only need to beat two bosses to reach that point which is False Knight and Hornet. Mantis Lords are optional as well. And after that the next place with boss fights would be soul sanctum. It's strange. You must be on PEDs or somethingSo basically after practically quitting this a good while ago at Soul Sanctum and resigning to watching these spreedrunners do fun stuff on youtube I just picked up again randomly and fecking defeated Soul Master in a couple of tries. I was actually getting a lot more frustrated at passing through those bunch of twisters to even re-do that fight but it's hilarious how this game just goes from un-doable to 'why was I even struggling here'.
So despite zero progress in ages previously in a couple of hours I got past the soul bosses, got into crystal peak and beat that crystal guardian in the first try, got the crystal hears so now I can fly about the whole place, got the dream nail and also beat that first dream boss Xero though that was a pretty bog standard fight. So now out of nowhere the whole world has randomly opened up with countless things you can do. Gonna try some of that.
I know most here would be reading this and laughing at someone getting excited beating these basic bosses but that's the life at the lower gaming levels.
the game and your mind works like that sometimes. I remember fighting the Dracula on Dirtmouth for 8 hours straight at night that made me want to smash the tv, then gave up, two days later beat it comfortably on 2nd try.So basically after practically quitting this a good while ago at Soul Sanctum and resigning to watching these spreedrunners do fun stuff on youtube I just picked up again randomly and fecking defeated Soul Master in a couple of tries. Yeah currently have 1 nail upgrade, 1 nail art (cyclone) and apart from that just use the charm that helps earn extra soul on attack and quick healing which helps a lot.You must be on PEDs or something
Glad you're back on it!
Yeah I am not beating that guy in this lifetime.the game and your mind works like that sometimes. I remember fighting the Dracula on Dirtmouth for 8 hours straight at night that made me want to smash the tv, then gave up, two days later beat it comfortably on 2nd try.
The normal form is easily beatable. The nightmare version however, is harder than my cock when Charlize Theron is on screen.Yeah I am not beating that guy in this lifetime.

I think I used the charm that generates the suicide minions coupled with Sprint + dash master. focus on dodging and saving hp while the minions do their job.The normal form is easily beatable. The nightmare version however, is harder than my cock when Charlize Theron is on screen.
Flukeworm really is a sexy little minx isn't she?- Beat Flukeworm while having a wank.
- And finally, the fight I enjoyed the most and had been saving all this while - The Mantis Lords. They are pretty easy to read but the whole setting, the music and then two of them getting on at once makes it so enjoyable. Also the best reward in the game - an entire tribe bowing down to you. Loved it.
- Clearly beating a boss doesn't give you the right to straight away go at the dream version. Tried the Soul Tyrant - yeah no thanks.
- Entered the Trial of the Conqueror for the lols, and yeah, that ain't for me either.
Yeah let's see. I think it's better to cover all areas once first before venturing into those kinda trials. So you have a decent idea on how to deal with this.Flukeworm really is a sexy little minx isn't she?
I agree about being bowed to. It was nice. But I'm not a forgiver so I wiped out their bloodline regardless.
Try the dream variant of broken vessel. I find that as probably the toughest dream boss (if you exclude nightmare Grimm.)
You can do trial of the conquerer. It's not that difficult and gives you a pale ore, which you need to fully upgraded your nail.
Buy the fragile strength and then unlock the Grimm troupe, then turn that fragile into unbreakable. Once I did that, I fecking slapped motherfeckers up like I was Mike Tyson.Yeah let's see. Really not planning anything as I think that's the best way about it. Just pick a corner in the map and head into it. I had taken a glance at where the Pale Ore was usually found and all of them looked challenging from outside and out of nowhere I had half of them now. If there's anything in particular I am interested in as of now it is one of the Strength charms which increase the damage. With an upgraded nail that would be helpful.
My current setup for bosses is Quick Heal, Soul Catcher and Grubsong. That's basically your heal as much as you want formula. So I'll kinda be fecked if I take on a boss that gives you no window to heal.
Everytime I get past an area without much hassle just by slapping them around I remember your quote about walking around like Stone Cold Steve Austin.Buy the fragile strength and then unlock the Grimm troupe, then turn that fragile into unbreakable. Nightmares Grimm is one of those bosses that doesn't let you heal at all.
