I think Rhaenyra was trying to forcibly impose herself upon Helaena for answers. But it didn’t work because Helaena is just going to live her own life.

Better episode than the last couple. Felt like more actual plot progress and better pacing.
Aegon might actually be the best character, and he is wonderfully acted. Makes me root for the Greens. Mysaria has way too much screentime, but it was nice that Ulf barely got any. Was that the hint of a love triangle between two brothers and that one Daemon daughter though? I really hope not.
Will be interesting to see how they wrap it up in one final episode this season.

Character seems different ever since the age switch. I do think since she was never given a seamless transition her back has been against the wall. Look at the poise Robb stark had compared it her and it’s night and day. Was she like this in the books?

Seems crazy to me it’s been 2 months this coming Sunday. This season has flown by. I enjoy it regardless of its flaws, I’m in it for the ride.
Not allowed to say anything about the book but its clear that in the first half of season 1 they really wanted everyone to like and support Rhaenyra so they make her a Arya/Dany combo. They also decided to make her the main character which doesn't really work for parts of this story hence "what would you have me do" electric boogaloo in season 2. People will excuse this by saying that a decade has passed so of course she has changed but you then have to actually show that development on screen which they didn't do cause they needed to get going with the story.
I think the showrunner is incompetent but it's also weird how HBO has kneecapped the show which is one of their biggest shows and coming off game of thrones, their biggest show. Why would you object to having a longer run of a show that draws in the biggest audience? Obviously this showrunner would just have more useless Rhaenyra, Alicent and Daemon scenes if he did get more episodes and seasons so it doesn't really matter in the end but still bad decisionmaking.
Last ten minutes were really good. I love Aegon and Sunfyre

I do feel that the motherhood changed her, she’s no longer a free spirit that can fly anywhere and tromp along. It makes sense when her mother told her birth/motherhood was their battle field. The thing is I’d wish others had mentioned it or she had mentioned it even in the slightly.
Agreed four seasons is stupid but the first season only bring them growing up without any heavy drama would have probably been disliked heavily hence the age jump
I'm sick of watching the same scenes over and over again, in no particular order
- Those two dragon riders walking away from their dragons while the girl whinges about being undervalued
- The queen getting stressed at pressure (what would you have me do)
- One eyed fooker wandering around Harrenhal hallucinating just like Daemon did last season, carbon copy
- Random uncomfortable incest scenes
- Tesco Value Varys being absolutely fooking USELESS to the point where they've now made her a lesbian mistress because why not
Rooting for Aegon now. Actor who plays him is doing a very good job.
Best performance of the show for me after Paddy Considine as Vizzy T, but that was all the way back in season 1.
Did it feel a bit odd that some of the plot points from earlier episodes just disappeared entirely for this one? There was nothing about Hugh Hammer and his ungrateful wife, and nothing about the crisis with the gold cloaks.
You gotta give it to the writer..they write all these extra plots as if they have the time to close it properly.

Fun enough episode, again there’s a lot of stuff I don’t like cause of the characters and some that I do.

Conversely the actor from Devs who plays Whatsherface with the stupid accent is atrocious.

Although the Aegon moment was fantastic.
I read something even dumber, which is Rhaenera actually knows Aemond is there without his dragon by himself and… sent Alicent instead of, I dunno, one of her 6 dragon riders?
Ah well, the show is dumb, but it is enjoyable. No point trying to dissect it too much anymore.
I hope Aegon wins and Rhaenyra and Temu Varys die horribly.

Great episode. Was hoping Aegon's dragon would come back to life! though i feared it was Vhagar that was about turn him to ash at the end there
I just want less screen time eating up the budget with Alicent and Rhaenyra - not that they’re doing a bad job, just working with what they’re given - and more battles.

That plummy tongue-too-big-for-his-mouth accent Ormund has is very annoying.
Its pretty tragic that the writers have done such a shit job that one of the most compelling rivalries in the story has fizzled into this

At least Rhaenyra is the same character she always was, but this Alicent is a doppelganger who seems to have been implanted from a world where kinslaying isn't a big deal

A “group of armed men” shouldn’t be able to get to Harrenhal from Kings Landing in a day.
Vhagar just took a (insert Jeff Goldblum voice) giant shit in that region. They don’t know where it is.
Alicent explicitly told Rhaenyra that Helaena saw Aemond at Harrenhal without Vhagar in her dreams; dreams Rhaenyra obviously believes in considering how she was trying to get information out of her.
It was the perfect chance to send some dragons and finish Aemond off.
Aemond is mostly a chance for vengeance; the priesthood hasn’t anointed him in front of the people.
But Vhagar is just roaming around destroying everything it wants, regardless of its rider. And they don’t know where it is exactly.
This show doesn't really concern itself with what makes tactical sense - it has to be cinematic. It was like that fight an episode or two ago, where Ser Crispin pretended to be dead so he could ambush 10 soldiers only to then be surrounded by thousands.
so sunfyre sits there dead for weeks and all of sudden when aegon is in trouble he awakes and appears right in the perfect spot to protect him....really?
I think it makes sense in a sort of mystical way. It was foreshadowed in an earlier episode too, when Aegon was sure the dragon was still alive. The dragon’s rider being in mortal peril must have woken it up.

yeah i get that they kind of hinted at it when aegon found him...guess they used a bit of irony that they were traveling near Rook's Rest the same location where they were knocked out of teh sky
that said...it was probably the first time in a scene where Aegon showed he had a sack on him
Re: Sunfyre being alive, it's probably worth noting that he wasn't rotting when Aegon found him the way that Meleys was.
There was lots of flies suggesting he was rotting, but i had hoped he was alive still when Aegon declared it. But then everything swayed away from that as the show went on and Aegon appeared to come to terms with his death. It was cool when he did raise up again, and it was obviously the kick he needed to get up again hearing Aegon fighting. He also looked super cool all melted and scarred.
