Yeah, their facial scars mirrored each other.

As far as it appearing dead they’re kind of like big alligators, and they will appear to have died in a harsh winter with their snoots sticking out of the ice but they’re doing a hibernation thing. Hopefully alligators & crocodiles don’t evolve to breathe fire because that might be a problem.

I had no issues with the dragon stomping in and saving the day. GoT did it with Daenerys in the fighting pit, it's clear that dragon rider and dragon have an emotional connection and they can sense when their rider is in peril. We'll probably see it happen again with Aemond when his big dragon thats disappeared will suddenly arrive when needed.

The only part I had issue with is given the dragon didn't seem capable of flying, it must have done one hell of a sprint to catch up to Aemon. But then again, they did make it pretty clear they weren't THAT far away I suppose. It's just the normal thing with writing in this show that characters can teleport in a blink of an eye, or in Aemons case take several episodes to go what appears must have been like 20 miles. :lol:
 
From a nerdy fantasy zoology point of view dragons going into hibernation and coming back to life is just cool and interesting. I think thats been the thing i've enjoyed most about the show in general. Game of Thrones dragons are a neat interpretation of the idea.
 
That was great. Co uld really do with a fallout episode.

My guess, the crackhead gets the dragon.

Think they've done a good job in flipping who you're "rooting" for. Less so any particular house and more so certain characters.

You won, Rhaenrya. Enjoy the iron throne, I hope it makes you very happy. Dear lord, what a sad little life, Rhaenrya.
 
She’s on some dragon queen energy, mad queen but not really. Shes finally been ruthless and like her old self to be honest. Don’t get why daemon wasn’t on his dragon, saw he felt the desire to bust through with the dragon but what a waste if ole Beatles cut took him out.

Anyway Rhaenyra needs to find a happy middle ground here. Loved the brothers getting backed together. Funny thing is i hated them when they were together before.

I don't think she's mad. She's just not a good ruler and put on an impossible path. Like you can see why she's pushing through with the prophecy. If only she knew what a minor inconvenience the White Walkers turned out to be she may not have taken the prophecy so seriously. :p
 
Brilliant episode. Felt like peak episode 9 Game of Thrones. Which is a shame, cause it was the fecking finale, and we’ve another two years to wait now!

At this point I just want Gwayne and Daeron to be happy. Only two decent people left. Ulf is a terrible character. Ormund got a hilariously worthy send off.

Really good season overall. Much better than season two. My main complaint as usual is the pacing. Some characters seem to be doing loads all over the place and meanwhile Aemond is pissing about at Harrenhal doing shit all.
 
Great finale but i wish there was more dragon v dragon fights here. I'm hoping the last season will be like S8 of GOT lenght wise. Almost 2 hour long episodes because isn't there supposed to be a lot to cover left?

I'm kind of surprised I'm flipping back and forth between black or green now. That's a good thing at least. Though ill always be ride of die with Aemon!

That Hightower v Chibs Stark (sorry I've forgotten his name) fight ended hilariously. Knife right up the ass. Fecking ow! :lol: :lol:

excellent ending, almost peak GoT.

you won't see anything better this year than the opening and final episode of this.
 
Fantastic episode. When they first revealed that Ormund was sensitive to smells, I thought...well how on earth is that going to be relevant? But...it was.

Which is kind of funny some folks look at it that way - now that she starting to not give a damn about anyone. I thought she was interesting before in terms of being so bipolar. The track she's on now makes her just yet another power hungry sociopath. That's why I think the Daemon sidekick kind of worked. Now it seems setup for another one of those - even her bestie will think she goes to far trope. I haven't read the book, but if that's the end result then *yawn*.

Ulf and Daemon teleporting with dragons and massive armies is something though.

On the plus side: the Aegon actor has been the standout for me. Could see him playing anything from a mobster to the Joker in a future Batman movie (was getting some Heath Ledger joker vibes in his interaction in this episode in particular).

Yeah not saying I want him to date my sister, he's just the only arc I enjoy right now and had me genuinely laughing (in the good way, not the late stage game of thrones way) with some of his lines.
 
Aside from the obvious performances, shout out to Rhaenyra’s Lady-in-Waiting. And Tyland managing to make a Lannister redeemable. It’s a shame they’re killing off the hot ones though: Hugh the Hammer’s wife, Cole, and of course Helaena.

Random useless factoid: Tyland appeared in GoT S1, though as a different person. There is only one character that might have appeared in all 3 shows.

I don't think we've had this flavour of power hungry sociopath before. Either way, if you're gonna make a character the main character and protagonist I'd rather have someone like that than someone who goes "what would you have me do" for seasons on end and spends 90% of their time crying. I don't know who her bestie is in this scenario, but I would assume that this would indeed be too far for Alicent (though you never know with this show) but if it's meant to be Daemon then I don't think much could be too far though he did suddenly care about murdering kids. It would be funny if even Daemon at some point was like "ok you've gone too far now Rhaenyra"

Not sure how much time there is for that though considering they only have 8 episodes left to finish the story.

So basically the average man in westeros. Everyone vacationing or daytripping at Harrenhal is getting kinda annoying. They really didn't know what to do with Alicent this season but they had to get her away from KL so that Helaena could off herself I guess. So off you go, to kill your son and be like lowkey ok with it.. definitely packs a big emotional punch. And now Aegon is there for no reason, to quickly solve their conflict I guess..barely developed storyline.
 
The Ulf stuff completely brought down the entire episode for me, and not enough Helaena generally.

What are you talking about re: massive army? Did you miss who they are?

Also, Tumbleton is fairly close to King's Landing, noted by the fact the dragon keeper managed to get there fairly quickly from that earlier episode. Dragons should be able to close that distance in easy time.

It's more the Rhaenyra orders the attack, meanwhile within no time it seems the army is full set up after still being a full day's march away only shortly before it, Daemon flies over in what seems like no time at all and not only manages to take over command, but also set up the army ready for assault, parlay and then attack. Then Ulf somehow managed to get to his dragon which seems a few miles outside of town in absolutely no time at all, in the meanwhile Caraxis seems to have magically disappeared until the very end when after slaughtering seemingly hundreds or thousands of men by Ulf he finally re appears.

In the grand scheme of Game of Thrones faux pas in terms of compressing time etc this may have been one of the less jarring ones (we don't have another Gendry out there rowing somewhere for several seasons I presume) but that doesn't mean it wasn't a bit jarring all the same.

Yeah the hench dragon that was with the attacking army seemingly decided to do feck all when the piss head turned on them. That was quite confusing, surely Caraxes (?) would have gone for the other one?

Reminds me of something else in the episode that reminded me of the movie the patriot (with crazy Mel) In this they had that rock that took a guy s head clean off, like the bouncing cannon ball in that movie. Makes me wonder if the director thought he wanted to have his own moment that way.

What you described and his acting throughout reminded me of Greatjon in GoT.
 
This season had a good start, meandering middle, and a real strong finale.

Really good finale. Felt for Helaena. I’m all for Aegon going full Joker - he’s been really good this season. Hated Rhaenyra’s character this season - whatever she does is completely illogical. The ninjas killing the gold cloaks plot was pointless.

Overall better than last but an inconsistent season. Middle episodes were a wasted opportunity. Shame we have to wait 2 years now.
 
When Rhanerya starts ranting about a prophecy about a darkness in the far north and her council looking at each other thinking this girl is bonkers :lol:
