Looks Aouar or Bennacer will replace D Silva.
I can’t see it with Bennacer but Pep was very complimentary of Aouar. I think he’d fit in perfectly there as he reminds me a bit of Iniesta (not saying he’s as good).
If City did sign him, I would be really worried if I was Phil Foden.
He is being touted as the D. Silva replacement and if City sign a 21 year midfielder, where does that leave Foden?
I think Foden is pretty safe in terms of future at City he’s still very young and I’d expect Foden to be the heir to Bernardo Silvas role when he inevitably moves to a bigger club.
Honestly I think Foden's overrated. More than ever fans feel disconnected from modern players so they're desperate for a local lad to make it. Don't get me wrong he's decent but this season City finish 25 points behind Pool so why exactly should Foden become a regular next year when Pep will be desperate to win it back?
I’m not sure he’s overrated he’s technically excellent and for his age performs very maturely. I agree though that City will desperately want one of their own playing regularly and Foden is someone who has shown he can cut it at the required level.
Actually i think id be more worried if I was Aouar... Not only having to try and get ahead of B silva (if he plays midfield) and gundogan but also with Foden coming through who the city heirachy and fans seem to have pinned a lot of hope for the future on ... could easily be that after a season or so an Aouar finds them-self stagnating on the bench for the next 4 years of their contract.
With home grown rules - plus the investment they put into the academy and seeming determined to have "one of their own" come through another young player is going to have to be quite a lot better than foden to keep him out of the team
I think for Aouar it makes sense to have a settling in period but if he’s bought I’d expect him to play over Gundogan and B.Silva for me is a RW for Pep.
I do think Aouar is currently quite a bit better than Foden and arguably one of the best technical U21 (I know he’s nearly 22) midfielders in world football
