'In the mid's 2000 he was genuinely one of the most exciting players in Scotland'

Scored some screamers, especially the two freekicks against us and that curling half volley in the Old Firm derby and he was outstanding in the SPL. But after all he did play for the best side there and it's only the SPL. He was pretty average in Italy and Spain. Kagawa was great at his peak but again, played in a fantastic Dortmund side/system that suited him.

Nakata on the other hand was inspirational, I feel his peak was at Perugia and he practically kept them up in their first season in Serie A in 1998. before winning the Scudetto with Roma where he was in Totti's shadow.
Yeah Kagawa was great at Dortmund but man he was arguably terrible for us...as bad as Sanchez has been at least, absolutely no impact.

Japanese players really need to start having a impact in the stronger european teams if Japan is to ever be a international force to be reckoned with.

Not a great player but a dead-ball specialist.

Just shows how overrated Scottish football was/is

Scottish football is pretty dreadful just now but during that period, Celtic beat all of the following teams:

Juventus, Porto, Valencia, Ajax, Man Utd, Blackburn, Liverpool, Lyon, Villarreal, Barcelona (twice), Ac Milan.

All on a fraction of the money English teams have - and the rest of Scottish football gets a fraction of what Celtic get.

The prize and tv money for the whole of Scottish football, is less, than the money 20th place in the epl gets.

Not bad going really. They’re crap just now - but I dare say we would be too, with the resources Scottish football has.

Its too bad Endo never left the J-League. I always thought he was so good.

Peak Kagawa at Dortmund was a sight to see. He seemed exactly the player any team would want creating chances. Just didnt fit our style when he came here though. At least he can hang his hat on that hat trick against Norwich.

Even at Celtic he would be left at the bench in a lot of matches against stronger teams. In UCL matches at his "peak" it was not an uncommon thing to see him seated at the bench.

But I agree about the free kick part.
