*Hypothetically* Would Sir Alex come back to steady the ship and how would that go?

No chance, but the first thing he would do is get rid of this stupid 4-2-3-1 formation that we are playing and bring back the classic 4-4-2 and we would start scoring and winning games...

I just think he's up there in age now.

I don't think he'd be completely up for it after being away for 6 years and after dealing with more pressing matters like his health.
I had this convo with a mate yesterday though. His thoughts were that his love for this club, and him having to watch through several managers playing shit football.eith zero passion exuding from the players would get that fire burning on him again. Granted his heath ultimately stops anything from happening but it got me thinking that if he was in decent shape, he'd deffo light a fire under the shower of shite we keep seeing each week. Also made me wonder how they, in turn,.would react to him coming back

Which line up do you think he'd select in that formation?

Not even that. Leave the man alone.

But let's entertain that idea. This bunch of primadonnas wont fear saf. They know he wont manage for another 20 years, they know the don is old. It's like post shot corleone, he's not the same man as he was.
But short term, would his presence not have the same effect as it used to? Would the likes of Pogba, Rashford and especially Lingard not want to up their game playing under the greatest manager to ever live.

Nope. He'll be a laughing stock if he comes back. His time has past it. That's not a slight on him.

How'd you feel if jimmy carter brought back to fix trump's mess.

It is akin to asking our fathers or grand fathers to work because we can't take care of our family.

In fairness Jupp was no joke when he went back to Bayern. They even begged him to stay on.

Stop it, you're killing me. Imagine football that exciting itmakes you fall behind on your pint with the lads so that when they tell you it's your round......you have to neck half of it in one and head to the bar. Those were the days

You know what's frustrating? Bayern didn't even need the bald prick. In fact, he did nothing special there. They were just being greedy.

Hopefully he won't come back. He did everything for this club and should enjoy his retirement, also going with his health issues it's for best if he stays away from the club.

This shouldn't even be a hypothetical discussion ffs. He gave you ungrateful reprobates 30 years of his life and just because you are struggling a bit you want to call on him again, despite his being in his 70s and being in very questionable health not too long ago.

This concept of this thread is a disgrace. You don't deserve what he did for your club. Let him rest.

You do understand what hypothetical means right? They're not actually calling for him to come back.

He might even get us to top 4 but it's not worth risking his life 4 that. Not even the treble is worth that

1) The word 'hypothetical' wasn't initially in the thread, judging by some of the previous posts. Which means the thread poster was not speaking hypothetically, regardless of what the thread title says.

2) It shouldn't even be thought of, in actuality or hypothetically.

He'd love Lingard, Jones and Young :nervous:

-------------- DDG ----------------

AWB -- Jones - Maguire -- Young

Lingard -- McT - Pogba -- James

----- Martial --- Rashford -----

Subs: Romero, Lindelof, Shaw, Matic, Fred, Mata, Greenwood

No we need to move on from SAF. I think this shower of S**T from top to bottom, even he couldn't fix it short term or long term

It was there when you responded. And absolutely can be thought of hypothetically, unless you go into the draft threads and ask them to leave Cruyff rest in peace? Its a thought experiment about whether his methods and approach would match Klopp and Pep and get more out of these players in the squad. Its a sign of the respect that he is held in and no need to take offence to it on SAF's behalf.

It will never happen, but hypothetically if he did I have no doubt he would get the maximum out of the players and probably finish top 4. But then what? After he goes we are back to square one with another new manager trying to fill Ferguson’s shoes. The club needs to move on, Ole is probably not the man to do this though unfortunately

Its hard enough watching Ole suffer, I couldn't stand to watch a fraile Fergie struggle. Let him enjoy his retirement.

After 6 years away from management, with all due respect he is probably out of his depth.

Even if he was fit and healthy, I wouldn't want him to return. The man deserves his rest.

This.

We never seem to learn from history. Saf has done his time and built up a great club. Use his foundations but build a new era. One of the reasons Safwas so great, he could move with the times. He could evolve himself and his team. We now need to do the same.

This feels like a set up but oh well. Assuming everyone is healthy
----------------------------------De Gea-------------------------------
AWB---------------Lindeloff-----------------Maguire-----------Shaw
James------------McTominay-----------Pogba----------------Young
--------------------Martial--------------Rashford--------------------

He would have James on the right to take adventage of his speed. When you cut in, you slow down. So he would have a right footer on the right with pace to take players outside and get to the byline. MInd you, he would have James and Young switch sides during the game much like CR7 and Giggs used to do. Of course, we still need another winger because Young shouldn't be our first option and Periera isn't good enough to be a first choice option (not that Young is anymore)

For the game vs Newcastle with injuries to consider (which we may have to play a 4-4-2 anyways)

----------------------De Gea----------------------
AWB--------Lindeloff--------Maguire-----Shaw
James-------McTominay---Matic--------Young
-------------Rashford------Greenwood---------

Same as when Busby attempted it. He was too old (that’s why he retired) and therefore had not enough time to put it right and... Busby didn’t have the Glazers to contend with. In fact, he was part of the problem, being in cahoots with owner Edwards. Fergie’s “no value” and “if you see a cow in a field “ was Glazer-speak. They haven’t gone away, so the best manager in the history of the universe will struggle under these cnuts.
